Subject: Storytime Tapestry Update On Hart - April26, 2007

Hello Friends

Helen tells me that she has had over 250 responses to the Rocky-Helen update report, as of today.  Helen tells me she loves to hear from all of you. She tells me that many of you have reported experiences of people you know who have had amputations. She appreciates hearing these reports.

Tonight Helen is very tired, so she asked me to do the report for her today. So here it is:

Just as we were going out the door this morning, the phone rang. It was from a nurse at the Hope hospital, asking Helen to take along Hart's wheelchair and walker. I think the reason for that is so that Hart can begin his therapy.............But he didn't start today. Do you want to know why???????? At 6 this morning Hart fell. It took a team of nurses to pick him up and put him back to bed. I am glad I wasn't there or I would have barked. People don't seem to realize that they have to ask my permission before they can touch my Hart. I just would have HAD to bark at them, hospital or no hospital!

I heard Hart telling Helen that it took 3 nurses to pick him up. I don't know what made Hart fall. But I think it was because he lost his balance. ... I heard him telling Helen that he really hurt his knee. When the physio therapist came in, Hart told him he would be unable to begin therapy today. He hurt his "good" knee. Hope it isn't serious. We will know tomorrow.

Yesterday when we went to visit Hart, he was "hyper." I heard Helen use that word. I think she said that because he talked non-stop to everyone that came into the room, including the doctor. And he had all kinds of energy..I heard him say that he felt like he could take on the world.......But today was quite different. He could hardly make it to noon so he could have a rest.  He was so tired, and his colour didn't look as good as it had yesterday. ... He could hardly finish his lunch. After lunch, he just went to sleep and slept until we went home at around 3:15. I hope he will be better tomorrow.

Helen told me that many of you have been asking about sending cards to Hart, to make him feel better. His address is:
Hart Dowd
% Fraser Valley Hospital
1275 7th Ave.
Hope, British Columbia,
Canada. V0X 1L4

And some of you have already sent cards and things. Thanks so much....

Helen asked me not to make this email too long, as she wants to go to bed and can't until I am finished. That's okay by me. I am tired..... Good night, and God bless.
Rocky.

Helen says....with great appreciation:
Thanks to all of you who have been voting daily for (Helen's) website.
