Blessings and Thanks

Bill Walker

Luke 17 in the Bible we read of ten men. These ten men were Lepers. They seen  Jesus from a distance, and cried to him. Jesus Master, have mercy on us.   Jesus told them to go show them selves to the priests, and at that minute these were cleansed of being with this sickness.  One a Samaritan turned and gave thanks, the others did as was told.  One out of ten gave thanks for the gift.

I wonder how many of us gives thanks for the blessings we receive each and every day of our lives. We carry our troubles to God all the time, do we ever say thanks for what we have?

Here we had one out of ten, who turned back, said thanks.  I take it the ones who traveled to see the priests were of Jewish faith. The Samaritan as I take it just happened to be in the crowd, he of his calling as a Samaritan was looked down on by the Jewish people. Kind of a half breed or something of that order. But he turned and gave thanks for his blessing.  The Bible says Jesus told him his faith had made him whole.  Guess that meant he could skip the priests trip.

I wonder,, maybe we should take a page here and think what it means.  Sure take your big problem to God,, then give thanks for what ever takes place.  You see I am thinking that you dumped your load, have faith God will take the problem and cure it.  He may have cured it the second you dumped it, but ye of little faith keeps right on screaming about it.  He heard you the first time.  Does it not say in the Bible. ASK, and it will be given?  Remember God is a good Father.  He does like to see his children somewhat happy.  He also knows over all what is good for his children.  Sometimes he does say NO, my child winning the lottery would just be a bad thing for you.

I think in my case, he knew I needed one thing to make me happy.  He seen fit to let me have a few friends.  Some of who was named MengToy, Chinker, ChinkerBoy, Then the two specials, Tinker and Poo, you know the two writers of a book, and now Little Girl.

 Overjoyed
Cynthia Groopman

Overjoyed I am,
the sun is smiling so brightly at me,
the waters are flowing gently in the deep blue sea.
Overjoyed I am,
because I have done the best that I can.
I have risen to the top of the mountain of success,
and my heart is dancing triumphantly,
as I bask in the glow of victorious happiness.
For God has been good to me,
and that is why I am overjoyed, as you can plainly see.

Pesty Mr. Wind
Cynthia Groopman

A roaring that was loud and deep,
suddenly awoke me from a sound and restful sleep.
In a rant,
I heard the wind say hello in a pesty chant.
Why do you come and bother me?
Give me peace and serenity.
The wind did not listen to me,
as he shouted with glee.
Then he pounded upon my door,
knocking down my picture as it landed onto the floor.
I began to run,
but the wind did not want to have fun.
He blew off my shoe,
and I did not know what to do.
Oh please Mr. wind do not be a nagging and annoying pest,
please go away and give me a well deserved rest.

Please
Cynthia Groopman

A beautiful word,
conveying splendid feelings of politeness that are joyfully heard,
when we say please,
our hearts dance with pleasure and ease.
When I was a child, please I was taught to say,
To convey friendship and manners in a kind way.
But, unfortunately people do not say please nowadays,
that annoys and upsets me in so many negative ways.
We must teach our children well how to be thoughtful and kind,
that a pleasant word in their vocabulary we can strive to find.

Please Do Not Cry
Cynthia Groopman

Please do not cry,
let me enfold you into my arms and your cascading tears, I shall dry.
Please do not cry, my dearest friend,
words of comfort and consolation, to you I shall send.
Come let me grasp your hand,
and I shall welcome you into solace's healing land.
Please don't cry, try to remember after the raging vicious storm,
dazzling sunshine will greet you as each new day will dawn.
Please do not cry, for the best is yet to be,
fill your heart with joy and try to think optimistically.
You are never alone, because God is guiding you,
turning your cloudy teary rainy skies into a radiantly blue.
