Living With Ghosts – Part II

Ina Townsend Young

Living with a ghost in the house presents unusual challenges.  If you read Part 1 of this, you'll remember my daughter Lisa was fifteen.  She and I decided to keep our ghost a secret from the younger kids who were about seven and ten at the time.  We were both scared enough for all of us, after all.  We figured that if the little ones knew, we'd both end up with one or both of them in our beds at night, too.  This was an easy task for awhile, as Mrs. Greer seemed to focus her energies on Lisa at first.  Things would disappear and show up two or three months later right where they should have been in the first place, or in some highly unusual spot.  We searched high and low for her make-up bag, only to have it reappear right on her dresser at a later date.  One shoe turned up missing and was found several months later on a top shelf in the pantry.  She'd wake up in the morning to find all of her stuffed animals (which were plentiful) had somehow worked their way from her dresser to join her in bed.  Were we freaked?  You betcha.  I began to think poltergeist.  I had read somewhere that they focused and fed off of the energy of adolescence.  Lisa had plenty of that going on.

Then, Mrs. Greer started turning her mischief towards me.  In retrospect, it was always when I was in a relationship that created bad energy, or bad vibes if you will.  Maybe it was her way of telling me to get these guys the hell out of Dodge.  Many of my boyfriends didn't believe me when I told them there was a ghost in the house, but I guarantee they believed by the time we broke up.  The brother of one boyfriend saw a stuffed animal jettison across the living room on it's own before he'd even heard about us living with an apparition.  My stuff began to disappear and turn up in the same fashion that Lisa's stuff did.  The spaghetti colander that was missing for three months turned up right in it's original spot in the cupboard.  A bottle of perfume gone and returned.  There were more things stolen and returned than I could ever remember.  I wish I'd kept a journal.

There was one guy that she disliked more than others, I think; with good reason, but we won't go into that here.  I'd started smoking again with this guy, after being quit for seven years.  We were sitting on my bed one night smoking and the pack of cigarettes just vanished.  Not right before our eyes, mind you.  They were just gone.  We tore the bed up, we looked under it.  We looked in dresser drawers.  Nowhere to be found.  The next day I continued the search.  It was just too odd.  I finally lifted the mattress up and there they were.  Right in the middle of the area between the mattress and the box springs.  Somehow she'd been able to get them in there with us sitting on the bed.  Freak out time again.

So, Lisa and I kept our secret from the little ones.  At least until they were old enough to be told that some of the things they experienced in our home were due to a ghost.  She and I would give them logical explanations for what they experienced, then we would go to each other and say "Mrs. Greer is at it again."

All of this was still pretty mild stuff.  We hadn't even seen her…yet.

 Some People Have It All

Bill Walker

missourisage@yahoo.com

One of the Dollies made this remark after looking at the pictures of the super rich man home in the oil rich lands.  One of the lovely Dollies sent me the pictures, so I just sent them on to all the other Dollies plus a bunch of fellows that has a Dollie for wife, or lady friend. Poor Bill is called left out Bill, he can't seem to find a Dollie, other then Little Girl..  Well maybe that is well and good, she is happy I think living here. And we all know most Dollies is not too easy to please. Some wants something that goes from zero to 200 in six seconds, and it better not be a bath room scale.

Anyways looking at the pictures of this palace, and the line up of cars got me to thinking of a few stories we read in the Bible.  About rich people, and poor people, seem like there is a lot to think about such sights. I wonder if the super rich man isn't good for at least a couple stories?   So here goes with a couple thoughts on my part.

Does this man, and his family have idols? Has he and his family placed idols first? Let’s look and think a bit here. If you looked at the pictures of all this thing some might call a home, the answer has to be yes. If one looks at all the fine things in this palace, and the lay outs, the answer has to be yes. Every thing in it is of special class.  There is nothing that didn't cost a ton of money. There is much gold and silver any where you look. He and his family worship money, and what money can buy.

1 John 5,21...  Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Money and the worship of money, and what money buys in this case has become idols, not only for this man and family, but for others that sees such. The ones that see may become a wish I had such, maybe not all of it, but some.  And if one has some, one becomes a wisher  of more. I believe I counted 15 cars in one picture, none of which was a common model.  The price of each had to be quite a chunk of money.  I am quite sure the man, and family made idols of these cars.  There is one I know for sure, the body was pure silver.  Look at me and my pure silver car, isn't it wonderful?  Look what I have, and what I have done. I have it all, there is nothing I can't buy.

This man, and family for a season, has it all.  Remember this it is for a season, just how long is the season?  This man and family knows not, but God knows.  The season, may be for a good long while, it may be a short while.  There will come the time, when the man dies, then what?  Well for one thing he is then no different then the poor man that had nothing. Oh I am sure he will be laid away in the best of fine silver and gold boxes.  That is the body, but the soul traveled on to meet up with God.  I don't have to draw a picture of what may happen.  I think the Bible tells us.

My son, you had a beautiful fine home, how many people did you put up for a night that was in need of a place to sleep?

My son, you had fine food to eat, how many poor people did you feed, that was in need of a meal?

My son, you had many fine cars, how many people did you help to get to a doctor, or a place of need to go to?

My son, you had much in the way of dollars, how much did you give to some worth while cause to help people in need?

My son, you had fine clothes, how many people did you give a coat to?

My son, you lived in fine style for a season, you had the best of the best, while many was in need of a few crumbs from your table. Did you not see them? Did you not hear the cry of the many in need of medical treatment? Did you not see nor hear the cry of those with out food, water, and a roof over the head?

My son, you had your season.  You had all the good things of life, while many was in need of just a few things to have lived.  Those did with out, now it is their season.  My son leave, I know ye not. For those that did with out, my Son Jesus has their mansion built and ready for them to move in.  You should see the mansion they will have, your palace on earth has turned to dust.  The mansion Jesus built for them will last for ever. Your fine fleet of cars has turned to rust, even your silver one is no more.  Depart, I know ye not.

Mark 8, 36  For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and lose his soul?

I think this man gained much, that is in the way of great wealth. He also had his idols, what great wealth could buy. He laid up much on earth, laid up nothing for the time when his season would end here.

Yes Dollie,, some people seems to have it all,  but do they really have it all?  Those too will some day, be just like you and I. No matter if they have every so much, nothing we have travels with us on that day we leave this earth for the meeting with God..  The super rich is not one penny better then the super poor.

The rich man may have thought there is nothing he can't buy. Remember there is others that thought there was nothing that could upset their apple cart. There will be many that is yet to come will have the same thoughts. Those too will find out that there is just a season for all things, that is most things, there is one that will live for ever.  I believe the builder of a ship so many years back, said even God couldn't sink that ship.  It never made the first trip cross the pond.  I guess God showed him and others,, yes the ship can sink.  The builder put his faith in the wrong place or things as the case was.  Never say God can't.. remember with God, all things is possible. The ship can sail or it can sink. The palace can be here today, gone tomorrow.  Man made is for a season, treasures laid up in Heaven will last for ever, there is no season for those treasures.

I have asked a friend of mine in Virginia to find music to fit this poem.  I had it in my documents and had never finished it until tonight. It was the right time.  I am sending it to Cyndi at Spiritisup to be published when Diane sends me the music for the poem. I will publish it on www.thestarlitecafe.com too.

I Saw Myself in Heaven

Janice Bumbalough Marler

I saw myself in Heaven

Floating on a cloud with you;

The cloud was billowy white

And we were on a sea of brilliant blue,

We were talking about what

Our life had been like on earth,

With its sorrows and pain,

We laughed because we knew

It would never be like that again,

God came and joined us

“What are you two up to?”

“Well sir we are so very happy

To have come home to live with you.”
“I have always loved my children

And this is where you needed to be

For I am the giver of life

And I gave life to thee;

I knew one day you would

Come back to live with me.”

At that He gave us a kiss and a hug

It felt so good to be in the arms

Of our Father the creator of love.
