Keep Those Dust Balls Rolling!
By Mary-Ellen Grisham

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." Psalm 32:1

"Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all sins.  Proverbs 10:12   (KJV)

We have a friend at church who is something like the Erma Bombeck of the women's set.  For years she has entertained audiences at women's suppers and church programs with her wry wit and wisdom.  Though she wanders around through many topics, she usually manages to reminisce about her sons--and their rooms.  Always she makes an unexpected foray into one of their rooms sound like a perilous adventure.  Always she is cleaning and finding humongous dustballs--under the beds, behind the dressers, and on closet floors.  Just the mention of dustballs starts the smiles and chuckles in her audience, and one of her long-time friends even calls her "Dustball," to tease her gently.

Though she is a fount of good humor and practical advice, she has experienced many of the sorrows others confront.  During recent years, she has lost her husband, a son, a daughter-in-law, and a son-in-law as well as many dear friends.  She married her husband after one date, and even her several cats could not compensate for his loss.  She loved these friends and relatives, and shares her love and good humor with all she meets.  She knows how to relate to others and meets them on common ground, with a zest for all of life's experiences.

She has weathered severe medical conditions and always bounces back.  She may disappear from church for awhile for respiratory problems or surgery, but soon she returns in her bright colors with her down-to-earth joy of living.  Her big victories--over an aneurysm and several clogged arteries--have added to her appreciation of life, even with the trials and dustballs along the way.

As I think about her, I realize that we all have those problems, sins, and hardships that we'd like to hide in the closet or shove under the bed.  With God's grace we learn to deal with these experiences and still feel the joy of the Lord coursing through our being and His love supporting our daily living.  The recurring sins that we struggle to sweep away are brought under the broom of God's forgiveness.  The Lord of many chances watches as we push these fuzzy blots, these pesky dustballs, from our daily living.

Yes, we too, with God's help and grace, need to keep those dustballs rolling--out of our lives and relationships.  May the light of God's love and forgiveness clean up the corners of our souls and free us to love with vibrancy and joy.

Preacher and Wife

Bill Walker

missourisage@yahoo.com

These people came to town for a few days. They travel about the country doing some work for God. He is what one might call a old fashion preacher. Just can spell bound you with his preaching.  Sure don't put you to sleep, I thought maybe I would get a chance to take a short nap, but no he keeps me awake. Not only is he a great preacher, but he is a singing preacher.  Now I at first sight of this couple sure got missed up on age. I figured right off these had to be maybe hanging at about 35 or so.  Maybe hadn't been hitched too long. Preacher should keep quite on some subjects.  I noticed a couple things that made me think what I did.  I noticed when seated in the pew together, how close they will be. You know young love birds always set real close, as time mushes on, there gets to a larger space between.  Not these love birds.  But that is what gave me the idea, hadn't been hitched too long.

Well this preacher has gave it away, they been together for a while.  Why they are expecting a grandchild, in fact there is grandchildren already. Said they had been married 33 years.  Still look like young love birds to me.

I always set in the last pew, so I can do a couple things when needed. Seems like I am needed to do a couple things besides take a nap. I got to watching her a bit while he is trying to put me to sleep.  I notice her hands, she seems to have a way of giving him a sign, on his singing and preaching.  A hand wave of a sort, I notice he does watch the signal and seems like the voice does change a bit.

A couple love birds traveling about, doing some work for God.  Preacher and wife. Gary Fox is the name. Preaching  like the old time preachers.  Give you something to think about from the word of God, The Hole Bible. The old fashion King James Bible.

~ Thy Law ~

 Joyce C. Lock

I have longed for thy salvation,

O Lord; and thy law is my delight.

Open thou mine eyes, that I may

behold wondrous things out of thy law.

~ * ~

The proud have digged pits for me,

which are not after thy law.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law;

yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

~ * ~

I delight to do thy will, O my God:

yea, thy law is within my heart.

Let thy tender mercies come unto me,

that I may live: for thy law is my delight.

~ * ~

I have remembered thy name, O Lord,

in the night, and have kept thy law.

Unless thy law had been my delights,

I should then have perished in mine affliction.

~ * ~

O how love I thy law!

It is my meditation all the day.

My soul is continually in my hand:

yet do I not forget thy law.

~ * ~

Thy righteousness is an everlasting

righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

So shall I keep thy law

continually for ever and ever.

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest,

O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;

That thou mayest give him rest from the days of

adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

For the Lord will not cast off his people,

neither will he forsake his inheritance.

But judgment shall return unto righteousness:

and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

Psalm 94:12-15
