From: This I Believe # 8
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

This I believe, war is Hell on earth. It can't be anything else. I have been doing a little research on something that happened in World War Two. You see in the block where some day my bones will be placed at the local cemetery, there is a marker for a British Soldier His remains are not here, but in the waters off the coast of China. He had
family here, and they had a marker placed. On this marker is his story.

I came home today after getting a flag placed on the marker, and started doing my research.

First I must tell you about the flag. Some years ago there would be a British flag, I guess family put it there. Today the Legion is placing flags on the graves of the
American boys. I saw they were doing this and moving to this block. So I waited till the old soldier got there with his hand full of flags. I told him what I knew about this case, and said I think he should by all means have a flag. Of course all this man has is Old
Glory Flags. He took a look, and said well guess Old Glory might be all right. So he worked one into the vase for flowers.

The normal thing is there is a holder for the flag. Now I thought this is fine, but next week I have to make a run to the court house. I am going to see the Veteran Officer while I am there, and plant a idea, there should be a flag put up on this marker for this soldier. I hope we can get him a British Flag.

Now then if you would like to read more about what happen to this soldier, and many others, write in your search box.
LISBON MARU. You will learn one thing. War is Hell on earth. This I Believe..

The ones that lived through the war from that sinking of that ship, to the going home. Life was pure Hell.   I read many different writes up about what happened and it will make a strong person sick. To think people are so mean and heartless. These POW's are helpless, they are humans, how can people treat people that are helpless in the manner
these were treated is more then I can understand.

Now I read one mans history of his life. At the end he writes about the day the guards were no more. Then here comes one man of friendly side of the fence. He tells them help is on the way, it is just miles away. They find a old truck and go fetch things. In a couple
days here come the Americans with doctors, food, and all sorts of needs. These people are transported to better quarters, and the long road to recovery starts. In time they are placed on a American Ship, and headed for the states. These are given the Royal
treatment. The word is to dock in a
U.S. port, from there transported to the east coast, then back to dear old England.

This man said in his story. The Americans went far in giving them the Royal treatment. The Royal treatment ended soon after docking, and getting on
Canada soil.

Do Americans treat people like humans? These men have been to Hell and back. Yes this I believe.

Oh, Little Shoe
Cynthia Groopman

Oh, little shoe,
A colorful flowering pink are you.
Ready to run all about,
As I wander and dance and shout.
Throughout summer days,
With you, I am active in many ways.
To the beach I go,
To catch the sun's rays of golden warm glow.
To the mountains, I climb,
As I hear the birds' loving musical melodic chime.
A game of tag, I play,
Enlivening and energizing a child's day.
So little shoe,
You are happy and no longer lonely or blue.

 A Happy Little Shoe
Cynthia Groopman

On a warm spring day,
I was greeted in a sweet affectionate way.
As I entered the store,
A little shoe gave me a smile that I shall cherish and adore.
I am lonely, the shoe did say,
And I love to walk many roads, streets and highways.
So, please put me on your feet,
As many experiences and surprises we shall meet.
 With the shoes securely on,
Off we dashed to frolic, walk and scamper over meadow and farm.

Coping With Life's Unexpected Misfortunes
Cynthia Groopman

I try not to let the unexpected misfortunes of life make me down,
I always try to smile and seldom do I complain or frown.
I do not wrestle with circumstances that happen over which I have no
control, because the Lord has given me fortitude and an unconquerable soul.
Courage and strength God has bestowed upon me to accept any misfortunes
that may come my way,
And I am grateful for each and every new day.
In times of adversity, God has given me the ability to overcome
obstacles as I successfully cope,
And as each storm of life is weathered, I dazzle at the beautiful
radiant rainbow of hope
For upon the comfort and guidance of the Lord, I can always rely
With a heart full of optimism I laugh and seldom do I cry.
For dear friends, life is a complicated tapestry of unexpected events
that is woven into a truly magnificent never-ending story.
And I am contented and elated as I bask in the golden sunshine glow of
God's everlasting glory.

Disability
Cynthia Groopman

Disability is a confusing word, as you may already know,
It does not mean, lack of insight, or the inability to learn,
and intellectually and spiritually flourish and grow.
We can do things like others but in a different way,
And we are courageous,
able to successfully accept the challenges of each new day.
As we walk down life's rocky road,
Our strong faith in God, eases our burdens as we carry our load.
Life is exciting, vibrant and full of energy,
And nothing stands in our way, not even a disability.

Readers Feedback

THE BEAR FACTS by Marsha Jordan (June 16, 2007): Indeed, you are a wonderful writer.  You are a difference amongst many others.  You were able to passionately give a contrast of about four sets; the bear, the husband, yourself and the bee.  Finally you rounded it up making all in one.

ANGELS # 2 BY BILL WALKER (June 16): A word is enough for the wise.  Bill, you have said it all.  I have also wondered and understood timing.  Just as they did in the days of Noah before the great flood so is the world fast becoming today.  Truth is fast disappearing from the church.  The aim of the gospel has been neglected for worldly possessions.  People, even church goers now call what is wrong right and evil as good.  Someone once said to me , “we did not make ourselves to be what we are today, we found ourselves doing it which we can not shy away from”, he even used the bible as a defense (although, he quoted it wrongly to shoot his opinion).  I said to him, “does it mean that if a child is born having the genes of stealing that he should continue stealing?  NO!  It is wrong to steal and something must be done either by correction or spiritual deliverance.  All he did was to grow annoyed and became defensive and aggressive.

The world is really on the wrong side today.  Power is fast leaving the church due to wrong teachings.
