Dogs That I Have Known. Lad
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

I have had a few dogs cross my path in this life, I love dogs as most knows. There is one dog or breed I never had any real dealings with other then reading books about them, but I love those big wonderful dogs.

I guess my love came from reading the stories, the books written by Albert P.Terhune, of his Collies. He had a home called Sunnybank in
New Jersey I believe.  There he had Collies and the friends of his Collies. Some of his Collies became show dogs. There was Bruce, and then there was Laddie. Both were champion show dogs, and won many prizes in the show ring. This all took place in the early 20th century, about 1910 to 1920. He must have had a great mind to put together stories of the things his dogs did, and got into.

I think that might have been because he loved his Collies, and he studied what each was doing. I don't think it takes a great mind to know that a dog is not dumb.   I think a dog has the brain to study people, and things out, and reason what to do in most cases. I never
heard of any dogs that needed college education to think and reason out what is going on. At least, one don't have to send them to  school, buy them books and still end up with something that can't figure 2 and 2 and get 4. When my dogs knew I started with 4 treats in hand, and they got 3, now where is the number 4? Also the box is empty, isn't it
time to go buy another box?

I know Tink and Poo knew what was going on when I loaded sacks in the back seat of the car. I could hear them checking the sacks to see if there was food  they liked, like a nice rump roast, or some steaks from
Omaha Steaks. The boxes was hard to bust into, but, "Oh joy, Poo, we got steaks." I could hear Tink say.

I've thought for a long time, that a person never dies, as long as a story was written about them. This goes the same for a dog or any other thing made by God, and some one reads the story. I read one of the books by Terhune about his Laddie, I still cry when the end comes and Laddie dies. Laddie lived so long ago, but he comes to life each time I pick up that book and read it once again.

There is no such a thing as a bad dog, just bad people that made them that way. There is no such a thing as a dumb dog, just people who don't understand each dog has it own reason for being here, same as each of us. A dog can reason things out in it own way, and what it needs.

I know one thing I think it was President Truman that said it best. "If you need a real friend get a dog, it will never let you down."

I never had a Collie, but I knew Lad of Sunnybank. A Grand Champion
Show Dog of long ago.

Walk with Me

By Joyce C. Lock

My Dearest Child,

Joyce C. Lock

I am here, in this very room.  When you sense my presence, and even when you don't, I am here.

Do not be concerned about the things that are happening to you.  They are not evidence of my disappointment, in any way.

I have seen and know your heart, and am very proud of you.

You are among my chosen.  Many are called, but few are hand-picked by me.  And I am here, by your side, every step of the way.

Worldly problems are not your destiny.  Though, they are a means for you to learn to walk with me, moment by moment.

Others have not been able to help you because I want you to look to me.

You need not know when, and you need not know how, but 'day by day', I will supply your every need.  Don't worry about tomorrow, as I will be the same God who meets your need today; and all your tomorrows will be provided for.

You might imagine yourself on a foreign mission field, having gone with empty pockets and empty hands.  Yet, there is nothing to fear, as I am the one who fills your pockets, and your hands, each and every day, so that you can serve without reservation, in all I call you to do.  I am your provider, and I am faithful.

All I want of you is to walk with me, talk with me.  When I lay something on your heart to do, in ministry, do that.  When I tell you to wait on me, do that.  When you have a question, just ask.  I'll tell you the next step to take.

When you're fearful, call on me.  Ask for a promise, or some confirmation that I am still for you.  I will answer.

When you don't know what to do, even in the simple things, I care about all your needs.  In fact, especially, ask me about the little things.  If you need a specific tool for a repair around your house, let me know and I'll give you an idea of something that will work.  When you go shopping, I'll confirm when it is a good purchase.  I want to dwell with you, so feel free to take me with you, always.

Then, as you begin to experience my faithfulness, share your testimony of what I am doing in your life; as others may want to walk with me, too.

I am preparing you for greatness in my Kingdom.  Not only will you be able to teach others how to rise above their problems, but you will become more and more fearless to trust me in all things.  For the magnitude of your calling requires it.  You will be steady, strong, and sure in my might; and powerful against all evil, as you are my child and a joint heir with Jesus.

I love you.  Please come, walk with me.

Your Heavenly Father

Tania Cilia’s group of Haikus

Sea and Ocean cry
Clouds rain sludge and dark secrets
Mankind kills, then dies.

Seagulls flying high
Flowers blooming like our love
Smell the new-mown hay

Seaside of my dreams
Ozone smell invigorates
When will I return?

Secrets when untold
Dwell within the heart and mind
Stealing all my joy

Share your time with me
And I will multiply it
By eternity

Shelter from the sun
Run away from all that heat
Stay within my hug

silk-stranded cobwebs
catch our love and hold our dreams
embroidering time

slip slide down the slope
savour the sensuous scents
stop being so suave

sliver of morning
beginning of creation
silence amidst the chaos

Slivers of my heart
Melted by the falling tears
Unrequited love

Snapshots in my mind
Shades of white and black and grey
Etched within my soul

Snow cascades downhill
Memories try to escape
I remember both

Snow that lights up nights
Flakes that make the darkness bright
Firing up my soul

Streams that flow unchecked
Torrents of adversity
Are but thawed glaciers

Strength needs a soft heart
Toughness needs a warm soul too
Positive

Suddenly I sense
The Tulips and the Roses
Crying for lost youth

Suddenly you came
Rainbow arc across my sky
Technicolour gem

Sun, sea, sand and love
What else could a person want
When days are counted?

Sunset of my mind
Winter melting into spring
Sunrise of my soul

Tender are your words
Emotive undercurrent
Refracting your love

The best thing by far
Is to let bygones be things
That never happened

The breezes of change
Metamorphose into squalls
When you are not near

The clouds are patterns
Holding on to memories
Rainbows tied in knots

The forest beckons
Sunshine flows across the sky
Come taste the future

The glass is half-full
Fire and ice will fight it out
I'll wait until dawn

The mist and the haze
Won't obscure the horizon
When we're together

The moon has turned black
The sun and stars will not shine
Just your love-light left

The mountain rises
Visible between the vales
Will it ever fall?

The neck of a swan
Asks a very big question:
Do you really care?

The path to nowhere
Evanescent avenue
I know, I've been there

Readers Feedback

The Death Of Pavarotti, - George Waters Ojeigbe’s tribute: What a loss for all of us.  I am not a fan of opera but his voice mesmerized me and then moved me and I loved to listen to the greatest kind of music that only he could make. Perhaps heaven will share his gifts with us again one day when we too have reached the other side.           Louise
