The Gift Giver
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

There is something special about giving gifts. Have you ever thought about the greatest gift giver of all time? But first I will ask something else. Have you ever thought, after giving someone that is special to you a gift, the gift was not what they wanted, or they did not have any use for it. You may have bought something, or made something special for that loved one only to get a look of I don't need or care for your gift. You are badly hurt if that happens.

I wonder if the greatest gift giver of all time has had that hurt feeling, not once, but many times.

Have you ever thought about what you have in this world? All you have was given to you by the greatest gift giver of all time. GOD.

Without GOD, you have nothing. This wonderful world he made for you. Your very life is a gift. What you claim to own is a gift. You worked for it you say. Well if GOD didn't allow you to work, then what?

You say you have a talent to do certain things. You can make much money singing and dancing. Without GOD, you can not sing, nor dance. You say, but GOD can give, GOD can also take away. I could not write this if GOD said that’s enough.

GOD has given us so much, and he keeps on giving. I would think GOD might be upset with the way we treat his many gifts.  To top it all off GOD gave us the greatest gift of all.

John 3;16 For GOD so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten SON, that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have ever
lasting LIFE.

A GIFT it is free. It is there for the taking, but many turn away, and don't take the free GIFT. It was not what they were looking for.

It wasn’t for those were looking for riches, money, fine home, fine car and fame while on earth. Many think the great life will never end, yet it does someday. All the gold, all the silver, all the fame soon pass away.

The greatest GIFT giver of all time is sad to see HIS GIFT left laying there; the package not opened - The Gift of ever lasting life.

Glad To Be Back

Cynthia Groopman

On August 20, my computer suffered an illness attack.
As it was carried away,
My heart shuddered and I began to sigh.
Gone were emails from friends, and jaws clear voice,
I just had nothing to say or to do.
I counted each day,
With optimism, I did pray.
The repair man worked in a diligent way,
Fixed everything and Jaws had nothing to say.
Days were lonely and long,
I missed jaws tuneful song.
Finally, my prayer came true,
I am back on line again with you.

Honoring God On Rosh Hashanah
Cynthia Groopman

Happy birthday dear creation,
basking in the golden sunshine of gratitude,
we embark upon triumphant celebration.
We hear your powerfully strong and mighty voice resound
in the shrill resounding of the Shofar's blow,
as we feel your Divine presence in the wind's cheerful hello.
For you created a world that is so breathtakingly great,
as you crown our lives with countless blessings,
we jubilantly celebrate.
Today we stand humbly before you, in earnest and heartfelt prayer,
please inscribe us in your Book of Life, ending sorrow and despair.
Please clean my heart from temptation and sin,
and renew my soul and heart that beats within.
For on this special day, we pay tribute to you, my God and King,
in Hebraic chants and prayers that we sincerely sing.
God, you are the exalted, righteous and almighty one,
we shall adore you eternally
and salute you for miracles you have gloriously done.

A Memorial Tribute To Our World Trade Center
Cynthia Groopman

Standing regally in lower
Manhattan were the twin towers
that were so majestic and tall,
And as we looked down from the highest floor,
the entire world seemed so blissful, innocent, and small.
Commerce and industry were prominent as there
was hustle and bustle on every floor,
And enormous opportunity was opened by each golden door.
It was a busy and awesome place,
And visitors marveled at its architectural
magnificent with breathtaking awe and a smiling face.
Then on a day in mid-September,
Terrorism, like a vicious lion roared
and rampaged and only sadness and fear we remember.
For the mighty towers began to crumble and fall,
And with the blink of an eye, gone was all.
For now, there is hallowed ground,
And there we stand with prayers,
tributes and thoughts that are deep and profound.
For we shall cherish, admire and salute the tower
with honor and respect with sentiments so dear.

As I Tearfully Recall

Cynthia Groopman

As I tearfully recall,
My heart shudders as I weep when I saw the towers crumble and fall.
So mighty and strong were they,
As they were destroyed in a cruel and tragic way.
Although the day began so sunny and mild,
Terrorism's blight roared like a beast so vicious and wild.
Plumes of smoke so noxious and black opaqued the fresh autumn air,
Rubble and destruction and earth were scattered everywhere.
Oh, thousands passed on to the heavenly father before their time,
Bells of tearful sorrow in hearts sadly did chime.
Heroes rose to the occasion, giving their lives,
We salute them with honor so high.
Rest in heavenly peace, dear ones who were victims so dear,
As we hear your voices singing hymns of glory,
In God's arms so lovely and clear.

Have Faith In Him

Cynthia Groopman

Have faith in Him,
When your head is turning and the world is in a turmoil spin.
His presence of caring love resides close by,
His comfort dries your tears when you sorrowfully cry.
When nights are long and you feel alone,
Have faith in Him,
Have no regrets of what might have been.
For faith in Him gives you resolve to continue and to carry on,
As storm clouds of frustration and sadness are gone.

Readers Feedback

Joseph Walker’s piece, “Protecting Me from Me”, is a terrific read – funny, but with a very important message.  Thanks, Joseph, for reminding me that I really do need to pay attention to those who are looking out for me.
