The Devil Made Me Do It

Cheryl Williams

Okay. So I got your attention. I wish I could say "the devil made me do it". I wish I could blame somebody else when I decide to eat that second piece of chocolate cake or those french fries dripping in grease and salt. I wish I could blame my husband or stress or just having a bad day. But the truth is...nobody makes me eat in an unhealthy manner. When I eat in such a way, I do it for one reason and one reason only. I CHOOSE to. For whatever the reason may be...good or bad...at that given moment I choose to be destructive.

Perhaps I do it to numb some pain I am feeling inside. Perhaps I eat in an unhealthy manner because it just tastes good. Perhaps I do it because somewhere deep inside I think I deserve it, or perhaps I do it for the simple reason that I can. The power lies within me to either take care of myself or not.

The reasoning behind taking good care of myself seems fairly obvious. But what could be the reason for NOT taking good care of myself? Let me suggest low self-esteem, a feeling of hopelessness, and a defeatist attitude. After all, if I don't deem myself worthy, why go to the trouble to eat healthy and exercise?

All of this negative thinking in our heads is false. And the reason it is false is because ALL of us are worthy. God made us all in His image, and deemed us worthy to be placed on this earth. Our lives are not without purpose, and God wants us to live our lives to the fullest...and that includes taking care of our health. If we try and remember this and let this thinking replace our negative thinking, we will soon be treating ourselves with love. We will slowly begin to see ourselves as worthy, and we will begin to take care of our minds and bodies accordingly.

Love
Dr. Harmander Singh

Love is not blind
It has eyes
Having the sight
Of virtues that are deep
Within the soul
And outside
The realm of cleverness
But inside
The heart
That seeks
And weeps
And longs
For beloved
So strongly
That the eyes

Of love for Bhagouauty

Dr. Harmander Singh
Has only pure sight of
Faithfulness for selflessness
That is the essences of humanly love
Having the never changing values
Giving the eternal presence
As it is not the body
It is the soul
Seeking love
The body is just a tool, which cannot have
Any room for a fool
Believing that essence is the physical presence
Well, just to remember is the excellence
Of the thing called love.

The Mother as a Woman
Dr. Harmander Singh
You taught me
To be a human
Moreover, you created
A discipline
In me to walk as a man,
From you
I received
A virtuous way
In my life
And from
Your manners
I expressed myself
In front of humanity,
You directed
Bhagouauty to be himself
For you are indeed among the unique symbols,
Yaw, the mystical mystery, the image of peace
Guiding all to live happily
In the shelter named the womanhood.

 TO A POET
Dr. Harmander Singh

Bhagouauty admires
Your simplicity
In complexity of
Expression of nature,
For your thoughts
Are fresh
As a new plant
In the peace garden,
Your integrity
Is virtuous
For you are
Divine in your
Dedication to
Simple way of living
You are glorifying
The natural living
While you have the privilege
To honor your soul
By faithfulness
In all your deeds,
Creating feelings
Of reverence in us for you
The creative word feeler
As a poet, you are.

Thank you our dear Winterose, for your kindness to me in publishing my writings again.  I always enjoy so much your sharing of all you take of your time to send out to be enjoyed .  God bless you  Leona

Dear Peggy,

You make me think deeply into myself...I may write soon a little sharing for myself titled, "All About Me Leona."  There are so many seemingly "false me's" and only one true "Wanna Be."  Leona

P.S. Keep on writing and sharing Peggy Ann Doak.  And God bless you Dear Winterose.

wwjdleona@aol.com  Leona is author of the published books "Search For Life Through the Past" a fiction novel that tells how the love of God can bring healing to old wounds that scars our soul made by words that cut deep.  And  "Dancing with Life"  a mish-mesh of my life and the  terrible struggles and victories over fear with blank pages to let you record your memories as they are jump-started while reading. They can be purchased at AuthorHouse.com &/or online at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon, etc.

Re. Authencity by Peggy Doak   I am not impressed with Peggy’s intelligence or her scathing descriptions of Maine and Maine folk. I quote   “Being intelligent in Maine is not a social upper”

Being a Maine girl, I cannot help but respond and suggest that perhaps Peggy would do well to seek more intelligent company and take her chances on her social standing.  Perhaps Peggy can return to Smith and get a postgraduate degree.  The environment will better suit her.        Louise
