Subject: Time Sensitive - Please Read - Contest Rules For Halloween Contest Voting - November12, 2007

Storytime Tapestry E-zine

The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural awareness around the world.

Halloween Contest – Poetry

Voting runs from November 10 – 15

This year I have separated the Halloween contest into two segments; prose and poetry.  I have noticed a tendency for prose writers getting the most recognition in these contests and somehow it appears as if poetry is devalued.  People this is so wrong.  Poetry is a major component of writing and is no less important than prose.  It is a traditional form of writing and passed down through the ages.  You know many of the great poets, Shakespeare, Kalil Gibran, Rumi, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sylvia Plath, take your choice there are a multitude to choose from. Our poets on Storytime Tapestry try hard to perfect their art and they are really good.  Give them the recognition they deserve; all you have to do is vote.

Rules For Voting

Voting for poets starts today November 10th and closes on November 15th.

You will be voting for your favorite poet based on the works he/she published in this contest.

Do not vote just because a certain poet is your friend.  That is not fair, there are many new wonderful poets in this contest and they deserve a chance as well.

*      Vote based on the quality of the work. Here are some things to look for when deciding upon your favourite poet.

*      Did the poems follow the rules of poetry?

*      Did the poems adhere to the theme of Halloween, or supernatural?

*      Did the poem evoke emotion; make you laugh; make you cry, scare you?

*      Did the poem help you remember your own Halloween experiences or give you some ideas on how to celebrate Halloween in the future?

*      Were you able to connect on some level to what the poet was expressing?

*      Was this poem, a poem you will say is delightful but forget in 5 minutes or stay with you the rest of your life?

There are only 10 poets so I am giving you two votes, your first and second choice.  Note to poets please do not vote for yourself, my vote is for every poet as the publisher therefore that serves as your personal vote.

If you would like to reread the poems before making your selection please go to the archives:  http://archives.zinester.com/98907

Most importantly members and poets alike get out and vote. These contests are only as successful as you make them.  All votes must reach me: winterose@videotron.ca by November 15th.

Here are you Poets and the poem titles and the days that they were published.
