Recommendation Bonnie
Carriles Growing
up I had no one. Even though I have an older sister we were never close so we
both taught ourselves that family is what you make it. In doing so, I met a
wonderful person who became what I call my soul sister. We were
convinced at age 16 that we were put on earth for each other. She gave me a
home when I was a pregnant teen and was my labor coach when I delivered my
first child. I have known her for almost twenty years now and consider her my
family. So, I
just knew that she was the person that I had to ask to write a letter of
recommendation for a college scholarship. What I didn’t know was when she sent
it to me it would allow me to feel the warmth that have missed since she moved.
The warmth, the love, the everything. I wanted to share it with you because
even though it was about me, it was very touching.... Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing you concerning a great
friend of mine who even when it seemed Murphy's Law was taken from her life
story, faces the day knowing it is a new day, so there are new
chances. Bonnie is a hard working, loving mother of 4 kids who has had to
battle schools to ensure her kids got the education they need and deserve. She
stands firm when it comes to her family. Her life has never been easy. She
& I met in high school, the youngest in our families & we each had
an older sister. Both she and I saw the unfairness in the way our Mom's treated
our sisters, but my Mom changed for the better with grandkids. Bonnie has
fought tears & frustration when her Mother refuses to treat her kids fairly
& equally. She wants her kids to have a loving relationship with their
Grandparents. Bonnie fights for education & love. Both too many
people are too busy to provide. I know of no other person, Man
or Woman, who deserves this opportunity than Bonnie C. She faces life and
any diversity head on, though her smile can get a little strained. She needs
this chance to know that all her hard work has been for something. The thing
that makes me proudest of Bonnie is, like me, she dropped out of high school.
She was one of the kids "No Child Left Behind" was made for. She felt
stupid because no one would help her learn. Even with a mom that was a teacher,
she felt lost and alone. But, here she is, a woman who found faith in herself
enough to get her GED , And here's where she gets my standing ovation. Despite
all she has gone through and all the unknown ahead, she realized she was
more than smart, she realized she could take on college & get her degree.
And she is going to make it! I know there are many
people out there who are deserving of this, but I feel Bonnie, with all her
trials and tribulations, is the most deserving. Many things in her life I have
left out, not because they aren't important, but because you would be in tears,
as I often am when I think of how far she has come. Bonnie has lost
many friends & loved ones to sickness and accidents. She has had to
fight her entire life to get even, not even trying to get ahead. She has always
championed the underdog and never felt she deserved pity. She struggles daily
to make ends meet. She makes sure her kids and husband have what they need
& then she makes sure she has what she needs... an education.
Thank you, By Bonnie Carriles krazyB73@aol.com

c_pmeeks@hotmail.com Readers Feedback ~**~**~ Hi
Carol, Pamela
Perry Blaine’s piece, “Doodads and Thingamajigs” is highly entertaining and
lots of fun. And to cap it off, she quotes from G & S – perfect! Yep, she’s
got ‘em all on the list! Congratulations,
Pam. Joan
Skura = - I enjoyed your articles very much - quite an eye opener reading about the many religons. that is a lot of work gathering all that material and then presenting it in such an interesting way. Thanks, Carol Hart Hart,
I used to watch all Jane's movies and loved them all. Sharon Bryant Hi
Carol Even
though I've been part of organized religion most
of my life , I agree with much of what you've said.
A true understanding of God is a spiritual awakening.
Scripture is a help and to some degree going
to church can help. These things set the mood for prayer
and communion with God. For many it's helpful to
mingle with others that are searching. I
believe that God meant for there to be one church. However
the free will that we have been granted has enabled
some to move in different directions and interpretations.
In my experience,I've found something interesting.
No matter the denomination or cultural affiliation,
a spiritually alive individual has the same caring, compassionate,
helpful attitude. They love God and they
love their neighbor.

Carol – Spirituality versus Religious Doctrine :Your comments were thought provoking. I like thinking 'out of the box' and i think you do too. We are so hemmed in by our own mortality, it is refreshing to see an effort to go beyond it. Thank you. Mary Ann Reed Here is our Storytime
