Sharon Bryant When he was a little boy, he was always hanging around in
the kitchen with me. He was breaking eggs for me for making cookies by
the time he was three. As the years passed, he would sit and talk to me
or watch me as I prepared meals daily and at Holidays. My daughter was never interested in cooking when she was
a child. Just my son. Today I learned something. I learned
that all those years of sitting with me, watching what I did, was being stored
in his memory bank. This was the first Thanksgiving I have not cooked the
meal in over 35 years. My son invited my husband and I to his house. "Don't worry mom, everything will be perfect,"
he told me. When I entered his house today, the aroma was
wonderful. I stood in awe as I saw all the "goodies" he had
made. "Mom, I made the oyster dressing just like you
always have," he said. I opened the oven, peeked at the bird and saw the
dressing swelling from the turkey. "Hey, you want to sneak a bite?" I asked. He laughed and said, "Sure, you go first."
I did. I was amazed it tasted just like mine. The only thing he was not sure of that would turn out ok
was the gravy. I showed him how to make it from the giblets he had in a
pot on his stove. "I always watched you cook when I was a kid,"
he said. I knew what to put into the dressing and how long to cook
the bird for." Everything was perfect. The meal was delicious. I watched as my son washed pots and pans, just like he
always saw me do. And I knew, that one day when I am no longer here, the tradition
will go on. His children will one day eat the dressing that my family
has always loved. Stories will be told about wishbones, and Thanksgiving's
from the past. As a mom who always hoped that my children would retain
just half of the things I had taught them through the years, I feel blessed
today. I hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful
Thanksgiving. God Bless, Sharon Bryant 1946@bellsouth.net P.S. I cheated on one thing. I bought a pumpkin pie and
took it with me today. ~**~**~ Heart Dr. Harmander Singh His heart was beating very fast but
he could not find the reason. He went to see his friend instead of going to the
doctor. He knocked at the friend's door. He knocked many times but no reply
came, even though the door was open. His friend was very poor but genuine for
his sharing with all of the human beats of heart. His heart was still beating
fast. "Monitor,
Are you here?” he shouted. "Yes,
I'm in the bathroom. Why are you knocking the door as if your heart beat is
fast?” Monitor replied. "Come
on! Open the door, and then take your bath,” he again shouted. "I'm
coming,” Monitor came and opened the door. "Hello!
How are you?” Monitor asked. "I'm
fine. Thank you very much. I wanted to see you. I will sit and wait while you
take bath. All right?” he said to Monitor. "Don't
bother about my bath. Moreover, why are you calling me Monitor while standing
in the street and at the door? I have told you many times that I am not your
class monitor now. Call me by name,” Monitor told him. "OK.
I will call you by your name. I'm sorry, Victor,” he said. "Why
have you come so early in the morning, John?” Victor said to him. "Dear!
My heart is beating very fast but I do not know the reason,” he said to Victor. "You
are silly. You are saying that you are fine how I am. Do not be so philosophic
again. Have you seen a bad dream?” Victor asked him. "No,”
he replied and was silent. "I
know why your heart is beating so fast. You would have spoken rudely to someone
or someone has not been genuine with you. Is it right?” Victor said while
laughing and looking at his face. "Well,
you are right. I said to Charles that he speaks too much, you know, I was right
but my expressions were not genuine, so he was hurt. I cannot forget his
response to my saying so. I did not mean to hurt him,” he said very sadly. "And
your heartbeat is normal now, just relax and accept things as they are. Is it
all right with you?” Victor said. "Thanks,
I am fine now,” he was back to his normal beauty. He always gets his heartbeat normal
when he comes to know why it beats fast. Daily Moral Insight for a Peaceful Night Is not it
beautiful that our heart beats? Is not it
glory of our heart that its beats seek something? Is not it
marvelous when our heart beats fast and we are reflecting on the day to know
why? Is not
the beauty of heartbeat that it bears our burdens? Is not it
like a bliss when we know why our heart beat is fast? Dr. Harmander Singh bhagouauty@gmail.com Poetry Corner ~**~**~ Thanksgiving Acrostic Tanja Cilia O Father of
