Dog Bite Update

Friday she got bit, I got shuffled around and went to the magistrate who was appalled by my report about the dog bite, the dog having bitten my other daughter two years before, and the fact that the manager is a sex offender.

So, Saturday the Animal Control came out, took a report and confiscated the dog while he stated that my daughter got bit because she was trespassing on his property. My reply to them was that since he has video cameras all over the place he should prove it to me that way. He wouldn’t.

Tuesday was court. The owner tried to get the dog back and because I am seeking criminal and civil charges on the owner the judge demanded the dog be held over until we go to court at the owner’s expense.

I was pleased with that and went on about my week. However, we have a lady in the park who I have had several run ins with because of the fact that she is always cussing at my children and is just plain rude to everyone.

Wed. she came knocking on my door and I was like "What do you want Margaret?" She said I am sick and tired of your children trespassing in the yard. I said. "What in the world? 2 of the 3 are grounded and the other had been at church all evening. She then explained to me that her neighbor reported to me that while Melody was riding her bike she was observed riding between the poles and fence of her home.

I said when was that? She then told me it was when she got bit. I went off because well, it proves that my daughter was trying to steer clear because she NEVER rides in grass period but it also made me mad that she was complaining but it gave me a lead...a witness!

So Thursday and Friday was spent knocking on the door of her neighbor to no avail. They refuse to talk to me because I guess they are scared. I understood and haven’t really tried approaching them since.

Also, Thursday I took Melody to the pediatrician for her heart check (murmurs and another story) and asked them to look at her leg because she is complaining about pain when she walks. She was put on another round of antibiotics but this time it is kaflex instead of augmentin.

Saturday the officer at animal control called me from her home telling me that she was making a personal call "as a mother" she was truly concerned about the video camera on the pedophile managers home. I told her that all of us in the park think it is a rouse but she said the reason she was so appalled was because when they walked in his home he had a big screen TV and she could see the whole park perfectly.

Ugh, so she gave me the contact info for a friend of hers in the sex crimes unit and told me to call first thing Monday morning. In addition to this, I have an appointment with a lawyer and she is going to be having the tapes subpoenaed based on the fact that he said my daughter was trespassing.

I am feeling better about this more and more everyday. I truly believe that this is the reason why I have stayed here for so long. Even though a community has problems, the only people who can solve them are those within the community. Before, and if the landlady is successful at the eviction (which I don’t think she will be) I am taking the sex offender out of this park...and away from the children here whom I have come to love.

Finally, his time has come.
