Today’s Announcement

Dear Carol,

As you know, I have had not one but two rounds of mammograms, an ultrasound, an mri and a dbl needle biopsies on my breasts last Thursday 12/6/07.  Results looks pretty good but the Dr and pathologist feel that they need to look into a questionable area under antisetpic next Thurs 12/20/07 so I feel the need of prayer from my Storytime family. I feel sad in that it will be my daughter's 54th birthday but that is the way that things stand.

On top of that, my son in law, Earl has been suffering terrible pain

with his left shoulder; was in the hospital five days and the end result is that he has four burrs on the rotator cuff which requires surgery on 1/12/08.

Needless to say, my daughter, Cheryl is the main spoke in the wheel; had been working two jobs at the hospital in case mgmt in e.r. plus as a nurse in the Observation unit but for now, she has taken leave of the job in the OBS unit.  It is up to her to cart us to any and all dr appts plus she is taking her masters online but she will be having a class break starting next week.  Sorry to hit you with so much but I pray that God will interene on her behalf to lighten her load.

I feel confident that all will be well with me as the Lord has given me peace and if the situation becomes different then I will cope with it in His good timing.

Love you all very much and I am thanking you in advance for your prayers and will update you when I know the score.

Normie

Entertainment
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

I used to work with a strange fellow, he also was a very smart fellow. I
think he had been to a school of higher learning. Something like a
grad of college of hard knocks. I believe he held the title of PhD
from that school. You know what PhD stands for I trust? Most cases
it is piled higher and deeper.

Any ways we talked quite a bit about people and their needs of
entertainment. We were at the local race track, watching junk cars
going round and round. It was part of our job to be there. Waiting
for something called crash. Mr.T said people came for one reason.
They were starved for entertainment, and was there hoping there would be
a real bad crash, and they might get to see us go hell bent to drag out
the bodies, and then go on a tear to the local hospital.

He said it is a throw back to the days of old, when the Christians were
thrown into the pits with the lions of the Roman days. People were
starved for entertainment, and seeing people hurt, bleeding and so on
was entertainment.

It is not only junk car races that one sees such. Many so called
sports, we see hundreds and thousand of people waiting to see some one
get hurt. I was watching some people that had been football
players, These are now the ones that tell us dummies what is the late
breaking news on the games. They were talking about a great, that now is
side lined for a while. Seems Mr. Great is really needed  in the
game, but he has a small injury, and it is not known if and when he can
return to the wars. He may even have to have a repair job done in the
hospital, and woe on us that he can't play in this rough game. Then the
talk got to a play that was just made, and some poor fellow had to be
carried off the playing field. One said  maybe the coach of the
other team ordered his players to really lay this guy out, any which
way. Might get fined 15 yards, but knock the guy out. It would be a
small price to pay, if the guy was knocked out of at least this game,
and who cares if he can't be back in the line up for the rest of the
year? Another fellow said he didn't think that was the case, it is a
rough game, people will get banged up from time to time. I started
thinking, yes same thing as the car races, people are starved for
entertainment. They will show to see someone hurt, and carted off the
field of play. Just like in all of history. People are starved for
entertainment. even during and way before Roman days.

You know I believe this might even be part of wars. The Kings, and
Queens have armies. Lets start a war, and set on the side lines,
and watch the poor souls fight, bleed, and die. We, the Kings and
Queens, are really starved for entertainment.

I really miss Mr.T, one could always get a bit of learning from that
wise old Billy Goat. I guess he is up there telling
St.Peter how something works. Like entertainment.

LOOKING AT THE STARS

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

I have always loved looking at the stars ever since childhood. It has been one of the great pleasures of living in the country. It is so delightful to be able to walk into my backyard in the evening and gaze up at them all. In recent years, however, I had forgotten just how spectacular the night sky could be. The dawn lights along the road where I live kept all but the brightest stars from shining through. At night I could see only the moon and a few dozen stars from my home.

The other evening, though, while I was picking my daughter up I found myself on a small farm far from the dawn lights, car lights, and building lights. It was then that I felt a gentle urge in my mind to look up at the clear, night sky. The sight was so glorious that I could feel my heart swelling with joy. There was no moon, but the stars were everywhere. The entire sky was filled with them. Thousands upon thousands of them were glowing and shining with happiness. It was so bright and beautiful that I could even see the frosted grass on the ground sparkling in the light. This was the night sky the way God had created it. This was the night sky that our ancestors had gazed upon for thousands of years. Under this wondrous blanket of light I felt covered with God’s love. I was as comfortable, safe, and happy as a child tucked in their bed at night, and even with a cold, wintry wind blowing across my face my soul still felt warm. All that I could do was look at those glowing stars, smile, and thank God for giving me a chance to live in a world of such beauty, such joy, and such love.

God loves us all so much. He created this glorious world for us to live in, to grow in, to learn in, and to love in. Take the time to enjoy it, cherish it, and care for it. Take the time to walk in the woods, swim in the ocean, and look up at the stars. Take the time to feel God’s love flowing through it all and through yourself as well.

THE MORNING STAR

Dr. Harmander Singh

The moon shined and filled the sky with its moonlight for the stars to see and add beauty to the single glory of the sky with its own uniqueness. The dawn came before the Sunrise and the moon was brighter than before. It felt the need to share its glory with something rarer than it did. Its light looked in all spheres of the sky and found a star, which was shining with twinkling glory of starship.

"Why are you looking around?” the star asked the moon.

"I want to share myself with other stars but they do not seem to share their light with me more than you. I want to know you. Would you like to share with me?” the moon requested.

"You are valued throughout the night and you're the moon of the earth. I am just a star to represent all other stars, which disappear on sunrise. My friends call me the morning star. I knew you before your creation because you are the child of the night and I am a star of the morning. I come to declare that the Sun is rising to add more light to the beauty of the night. Is not it the beauty of the Sun that we share everyday early in the morning?” the morning star said.

"Yes. You're the beauty of the dawn of the sunrise,” the moon said.

"Thanks a lot. I also admire you as the bright smile of the night,” the morning star said affectionately.

"Thanks. And thanks for being here in the sky,” the moon replied thankfully and both waited to see the Sunrise.

Daily Moral Insight for a Peaceful Night

Is not it great that we sometimes get awareness that we do not need to be the humans of dark wisdom?

Is not it a great venture to find genius inside us?

Is not it glory of dutifulness that it gives meaning to sincerity and dedication?

Is not it great of find fearlessness as our guide to be a human?

Is not it beautiful to pause to think that after all we are humans?

Poetry Corner

Carol, I read about Dianna and her tragic loss and I was inspired to write her this poem. May Kyle rest with the angels.

~Borrowed Angels~

For Dianna Doles Petry and her family

Tragedy has a tiring way, of making one surrender.

The Lord remains our only hope, in helping us remember.

He lends each one of out, for such a short sweet while.

In the end we shall return to his rapturous golden mile.

Some travel all too early along his path of glistening gold.

And our only true consolation is that they are going home.

Indeed we morn, we grieve and question, because we want them by our side.

I believe continuously that God shares in the tears we cry.

Not because he has taken them home,

Away from the world in which they knew;

I believe he sheds his thunderous tears,

Like rain, with pain for you.

We that are left here to journey on through time,

Until the day we get carried away to heaven with our precious Divine.

In preparation for that moment, we can bow our heads in prayer.

God's perfect love, is lingering above and his reason awaits us there.

Readers Feedback

~**~**~

Heartsong  by Jennifer Oliver -Well, you see Respected Carol, this story is awakening the love and cultural awareness for which all are here trying, writing and praying. The writer has created the feelings and thus, the words speak. Thanks!

Chris Hansen’s Column - Well, Respected Carol the Writer has holistically offered all of us the way for receiving the blessings thorough faith. Thanks to God. It is written with a great enthusiasm, faith and sincerity of heart. The worship is the only thing we can do. If anyone gives or offers a glass of water to his disciple will receive the blessings. The disciples will do the greater works, and worship is obeying his teachings, being salt to the world, the humbleness (Great are those, who are humble in heart!) that evokes that we can view the Image of Jesus in all. The Leo Tolstoy's novel "War and Peace" has the similar feelings as the old man Martin waits for the Lord, as also in the writings of the Kahlil Gibran. However, this work is exceptional as if gift from the Holy Spirit. This is the devotion as he himself presented it in the Last Dinner, the Spar, washing the feet of the disciples and offering the food. May God Bless Us. Thanks for sharing such a devotion and dedication in your words!
