"Christmas: Look Forward To It or Dread It?

 Cheryl Williams

This may seem like a strange question, but do you look forward to Christmas or do you dread it?

I have to say that every year, I seem to dread it more than look forward to it.  I know how terrible that sounds, and the last thing I want is to be a Scrooge.  Its just that it seems like people have forgotten the true meaning of the holiday.

Every year, the Christmas decorations go up earlier and earlier.  Now it's in October.  We can't even enjoy the fall season and Thanksgiving before we start singing "Jingle Bells".  That really bothers me. Because the decorations and the songs on the radio spell out one thing...commercialism.  Buy...buy...buy.  The television is bombarded with commercials directed at children so that they can beg you for the latest gadget, video game system, or video game.  I find it all extremely stressful.

I remember the Christmases of my childhood.  Church pageants acting out the Christmas story, baking cookies with my mom, decorating the tree, going caroling, taking treats to the rest homes.  It wasn't all about the gifts.  I remember making a list for my mom to give to Santa....and I would hope for at least one thing.  I would never have dreamed of asking for something that cost over $100.  All of my gifts combined probably did not add up to that.  But you know what?  I don't even remember my gifts.  I remember the time spent with my family and friends.

Today I was in the car, trying to find a radio station, and nearly every music station I turned to was playing a Christmas song.  I don't want to hear Christmas songs at the beginning of November.  First of all, Thanksgiving is not even here.  Secondly, by the time Christmas gets here, I'm sick of all of the Christmas songs.

"Jesus is the Reason for the Season".  Ever see those Christmas pins that say that?  Well, is Jesus REALLY the reason for the season?  Is Jesus found in the shopping mall as we max out our credit cards to give people more junk they don't really need?  Does Jesus want us debt ridden, and filled with greed while there are children overseas who are starving to death?  Maybe...just maybe...our gifts should be going to them.

Like I said, I don't mean to be a Scrooge, and I really am NOT a Scrooge.  I enjoy giving.  I love seeing smiles on people's faces when they open something I have bought for them.  But here in America, we take it to the extreme.  We really do.

I can't think of one single thing I need or want for Christmas.  Well...except perhaps not to hear another Christmas carol until December 1st.

So tell me...what are your thoughts about this?

Make A Wish Come True

Conrad S. Cardinal

Sleigh bells ring, children sing, a

wonderful time of year.

A time to think of family and friends,

those that we hold dear.

Decorations, Christmas trees, lights

all around.

The wonder of all we see and every

joyful sound.

Jesus, his amazing gift, a blessing

for every one.

His sacrifice to set us free, Gods

blessed son.

We have the right to do our will and

to make each choice.

To say whatever is on our mind, none

can hush our voice.

What about those oppressed, their

rights taken away.

They wish to worship and enjoy this

time, but aren't allowed to say.

Then there are our neighbors, you know,

the folks that live next door.

Do they have the things they need, or

are they much to poor?

Perhaps we should be more concerned

with the needs of others.

Doing as Jesus said, loving our sisters

and brothers.

Take the time to look around, see what

you can do.

See a need, share your joy, make a wish

come true.

Why?

Conrad S. Cardinal

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year.
A time when we think of giving to those we
hold dear.

We take the time to think of Jesus and  what
we  should celebrate.
It’s even easier to be patient with those who
are irate.

It’s a time when children who are poor come
to our mind,  it makes us sad.
Many of them live on the street and things are
really bad.

We become aware of the many that don’t have
a home or food to eat.
We’re thrilled to be able to give them clothes
and a meal for a special treat.

The thing that bothers me as I write this verse
and often brings a tear.
Why is it  that these things I mention only come
to our minds once a year?

Readers Feedback

~**~**~

Well, Respected Carol,

Most reverently, I am amazed at your sacrifices for the spreading the love and cultural awareness. The people earn millions of dollars as donations and awards without doing anything substantial. I wonder if the readers on the Storytime Tapestry may select the best person of the year 2007. It is none other than the Carol. We all know that those who encourage and help others go through such troubles. It is problem of the Reiki, that our goodness takes the burdens of those, who go for taking the time to give the moral support to us, as the Carol is giving. I would sincerely appeal to all of the readers to make the Happy Christmas a gift for Carol.

We may earn money, but the discouragement may take years to get back to normal. When we go through any suffering, we can share it, just imagine if we buy the Storytimes Tapstry as newspaper, we would have paid, but as a token of thanksgiving, we may do something. Let us try and pray that a solution may arrive before the Christmas. May God Bless Us All! Thanks!

With sincere regards,

Dr. H. Singh

Well, Respected Carol, you see how the great parents offer the universal love spreading to all, the world and indeed the World of the Great Parents and the Children, as we seek it the way the Cynthia has expressed, and through their children as this true story witnesses. The same stories about the granny, parents and others are keeping human civilization alive. Even in the darkness, one such candle is enough to give hope to many. The good parenthood is our common assets, and we enjoy it as it the true stories of witnessing the true religion, culture and civilizations.

Well, I would express that you see Respected Cynthia, it is a greatness that you have had a privilege of having great parents. The great parents make the children great. I would sincerely request that you may kindly use "He is your treasure, as he not only resides in your body, but also as a soul looks after you, you may remember your dreams, when your mum and dad visit you". We cannot go to heaven, but they can visit us, as the souls can. I believe so, that is why I have requested. This relation of parenthood is everlasting. I have to comment on it as it is our treasure not only yours. Thanks and May God Bless You father as guiding us even in your writings. May God Bless Us for Having Such Heartily Sharing as we wish to be such an ideal parents, and May God fulfill Our this Good Wish. Amen!

With sincere regards,

Dr. H. Singh

Well, Respected Carol, I agree with the prophecies, the hidden point that all of us may meditate on is that who is the Lord Jesus Christ? He is the "Word". The Holy Bible will become the vision for the world as the "Word". Though, all the prophecies will go as described here. The Horse is the Holy Spirit and the Riders represent the various gifts from the "Word". We are becoming use to obeying what we feel as true and right, but what the the "Word" in the Holy Bible says as the Gospel says is the acceptance of the "Word". Imagine about "Loving Thy Enemy" and "Those, who use sword are killed by the sword", disarmament. All of it is not happening right now. We are praying for it, as when there will be world free from armies and the weapons. That will be the ruling of the "Word" as God, the Raising of Lord Jesus from the "Word" to Life. These articles are very necessary for all to read to ensure that the world will not suffer forever. We Pray for Grace through Word working as all over the world helping people with the Gifts of Holy Spirits, the singing, preaching, prophesying and the endless list. I would request all to read and feel personally what these interpretations says to each one of us. May God Bless Us All! Thanks!

With regards and good wishes to the Book (Revelation Revisited) and the Author,

Dr. H. Singh
