Subject: Time Sensitive - Please Read - Rules For Christmas Poem Contest Voting - January06, 2008

Storytime Tapestry E-zine

The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural awareness around the world.

Christmas  Contest – Poems only

Voting runs from January 6 – 9

This year I have separated the Christmas contest into two segments; prose and poetry.   Readers of Storytime Tapestry, our writers try hard to perfect their art and they are really good.  Give them the recognition they deserve; all you have to do is vote.

Rules For Voting – For Poems only (stories contest is still in progress)

Voting for your favorite writers starts today Januray 6th and closes on January 9th.

You will be voting for your favorite writer based on the works he/she published in this contest.

Do not vote just because a certain writer is your friend.  That is not fair, there are many new wonderful writers in this contest and they deserve a chance as well.  You must vote for the quality of the work you judge.

Here are some things to look for when deciding upon your favourite writer.

  • Vote based on the quality of the work.

  • Was the poem well written?

  • Was it just a little rhyme or did it tell a story?

  • Did it have a message?

  • Did the poem adhere to the theme of Christmas, New Years, Kwanzaa, or Chanukah?

  • Did the poem evoke emotion; make you laugh; make you cry, instill a warm fussy feeling inside of you?

  • Did the poem help you remember your own holiday experiences or give you some ideas on how to celebrate the various religious holidays in the future?

  • Were you able to connect on some level to what the writer was expressing?

  • Did the poem remind you of how you should or should not conduct yourself throughout the holiday?

  • Did the poem make you think, reflect, become a better person for having read it?

  • Was this poem, a story you will say is delightful but forget in 5 minutes or stay with you the rest of your life?

There are only 14 poets so I am giving you up to 3 votes because I do realize how hard it is to choice.  There were so many good poems this year.

Note to writers please do not vote for yourself, my vote is for every writer as the publisher therefore that serves as your personal vote.

Members please remember you do not need to be a writer to vote, your vote is what is keeping these contests alive.

If you would like to reread the poems before making your selection please go to the archives:  http://archives.zinester.com/98907

Most importantly members and writers alike get out and vote. These contests are only as successful as you make them.  All votes must reach me: winterose@videotron.ca by January 9th.

Here are you writers, the poem titles and the days they were published.
