Today’s Announcements

Dear Friends....

Thanks to all of you who wrote to me, Helen,  hmdowd@telus.net, expressing your concern for Hart and saying that you would pray. ... It means a lot to both of us. I am printing out all of your messages so that I can take them to Hart tomorrow. I haven't personally seen the doctor since Hart was admitted, but I was told by the nurses that he would be in for at least 6 days. I will keep you posted on what I hear tomorrow when I visit him.

Corky is an excellent hospital dog and has already made friends with the hospital staff. I took him in to Hart's room after Hart was all settled, and he snuggled in, nestling close to Hart, just as Rocky did. Corky and Rocky have absolutely NO similarities, which is good. We won't be comparing them. Rocky shall forever be in our hearts. But we are so happy that Corky has come to fill the empty spot Rocky left. He is a real pal, and after only three weeks as a member of our family, he has fitted right in. Even the cats have made friends with him.

Helen

 Good Afternoon, Friends;

Corky and I didn't  go to the hospital today. When I looked out the window at 6:30 this morning, it was like looking at a Christmas card. The trees were laden with snow. Large flakes were falling. The street lights filtered through the fog, giving everything an eerie look. Beautiful, but a day that said, "Don't venture out on to the road today!"

I called Hart at the hospital. He updated me on what procedures the doctor was taking. ... He has to keep his feet elevated above his head, making reading difficult and writing, impossible. His I.V. treatments will be continued every 12 hours. The doctor said that he would be in at least 2 weeks. ... But he is cheerful and always does his best not to give the hospital staff any more work than necessary. . Corky and I will be in to see him tomorrow if the snow keeps melting as it has all today.

Helen

The Cold Case
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

The cold case murder of Beatrice, Ne. is of a woman that lived about a block from my corner. Well to tell the truth she lived in the middle of a long two block section, there is no street that should have been there.  January the first is figured the day she was last seen in the year 2000. That is alive, her body was found in the early spring by a
farmer and his dog on a little traveled road to one of her farms. She was found off the road, in a ditch under an old small bridge.

The killer or killers is unknown to the local Keystone Kops. I don't think the killer or killers will ever be found. In fact I really think the Keystone Kops have forgotten the case, marked it up to we muddied the water so bad, there is no hope of closing the case.

It was even said I put the old gal in the ditch. Some wise guy down the street started that rumor. It seems the cops at first made every house around asking questions. Some houses they made a repeat stop at, even maybe a couple more stops. I seemed to be blessed with I think it was three times of being asked, "Do you remember an out of state
car?"

Now I have offered my services on cleaning up this case, as I know the killer, but so far the offer has not been taken.

There are things I found out by just watching, thinking, and hearing what was told me by a couple of others. Also she told me a thing or two about the killer while she was alive and doing her inspection of what's going on here abouts. She was one of those that inspected what every one was doing you know. She always had her nose in to  why are you doing something, and why don't you do this instead? A regular pain in the neck
person at times.

Known fact number one. She had a son, lived in
Kansas City. He owed money to K.C. gamblers.

Known fact number two. She drew out 100,000 dollars from bank a couple days before the turn of the new year. She had heard money might be hard to get out of bank when the turn of the century came about, she might need a little ready cash.

Known fact number three. Son just happened to be in town, but did not spend time at the house, other then a funny story told by him. He claims he stopped by, she wasn't at home, so he went else where to spend the night. He returned the next day, drove her rented car back to a repair shop, picked up her car, and put it back in the house garage, then headed for
Kansas City. Oh by the way he never noticed blood all
over the seat of the rented car. The blood was on the right side of front seat. The seat color was red, there fore blood was not seen until much later. Strange, I happen to know what blood looks like. That was fresh blood, and blood a day old.

I talked to retired Sheriff Fred a couple or three years ago. He had retired a few years before all this took place. He said son would have never made it past the county line if he had still been sheriff.

I rest my case.

SWEET FORGIVENESS

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

"Forgiveness is the sweetest revenge." I saw this wonderful old saying again in a book recently. It got me to thinking about all the times that I have been able to forgive others in my life and all the joy that it has brought me. One memory stands out particularly well. I was a young boy spending a week at 4-H camp during the Summer. I was having a great time and enjoying everything about it except for another young boy about my age. To say we didn’t get along would be an understatement. We spent most of the week irritating, insulting, and picking on each other. Words finally came to blows on the next to last day of camp. We got into a fist fight which I lost. Thankfully, older boys broke it up before I was hurt too much. I spent the rest of the day alone, sulking and stewing in my own anger.

The next day my spirits were lifted, however, when my Mom brought the boys in our cabin some of her delicious homemade pizzas. I was enjoying a few slices of it when I saw the other boy sitting by himself at the bottom of the steps outside. He seemed very lonely right then. I am not sure what moved me to do so, but I took my pizza down and shared it with him. It made all the anger and pain inside me go away. We became friends after that. I never got into another fist fight either. I had found out that sharing and forgiving were way more fun and a lot less painful.

Forgiveness truly is the sweetest revenge. It can turn an enemy into a friend. It can free a heart from the chains of anger, hatred, and pain. It can open a soul to the sweetness of love and joy once again. It can help you to live by the Golden Rule and to create a Golden Life. It can bring you back to oneness with God in everything you think, feel, and do. That is why I often pray, "God help me to forgive, help me to give, and help me to love." May your life always be full of sweet forgiveness then. May you always delight in its Heavenly charms.

 HYPNOTISM

Dr. Harmander Singh

"Is love hypnotism?” an old lady asked a wise man.

Have you ever loved anybody?” the wise man put a question.

"This is not an answer to my question. Is it?” she protested.

"I'm a man and you're a woman. Is not it?” he smiled and said while looking into her eyes.

"You are a big fool. What do you want to prove?” she was irritated with the question.

"You've kept your child nine months in your womb. You are in tune with him, which is beyond hypnotism. Then you remained in tune for more than 5 years, still the child has his own individuality, originality, creativity, personality, privacy and personal life. Why can not you hypnotize him even though he is your own image?” the wise man questioned her.

"Because I do not know how to hypnotize,” she replied innocently.

"No. Even if you knew it, you would have not been able to hypnotize him. Think about it,” the wise man, suggested.

"I don’t know,” she replied.

"You know because you love him, that is why you can not hypnotize him,” he replied.

"Thanks a lot. I know what you mean. Love is to be in tune not hypnotism,” she said.

"It is higher than any other influences because it is harmony and peace of presence that is why it is the most powerful and pious possession,” the wise man said.

She knew that love is the greatest helplessness of the beloved ones and she felt the great love for her son.

Daily Moral Insight for a Peaceful Night

Is not it a beauty of love that we cannot label it?

is not it a glory of love that it's beyond any limit of human relations which are based on hard lines of social norms instead of self and humanity awareness ?

Is not it a unique gift of humanity that true love is a light to conscious awareness?

Is not it universal beauty that love is the beauty of all appreciations and the touch of selflessness?

Is not it an awakening thought that the selfless love is like a mirror, which shows us our image without hypnotizing us?

A Void for Eleven Days

Cynthia Groopman

A void did exist for eleven days,

Effecting my routine in many ways.

It seemed that the internet was disconnected,

My name and password were being rejected.

Technical support gave me no aid,

Many calls were made.

They did insist I needed a dial-up update,

,

Waiting for the mail to arrive each day, was nothing to celebrate.

When the disc did arrive,

Oh, smiles on my face like springtime flowers did flourish and thrive.

The computer doctor made a house call and thus made the necessary repairs,

That, indeed was an answer to my heartfelt prayers.

Now, I am back again on line,

Everything is splendid and fine

 Dissatisfied with the News

 Cynthia Groopman

With the news on radio, television and in the newspapers, I am greatly dissatisfied,

Nothing is optimistic that makes me elated or gratified.

All we hear are about murder, disasters, assassinations and horrible war,

None of these events, I  cherish or adore.

Gone are the smiles and joy of daily life,

The media gives us too many doses of daily strife.

The goodness and the beauty of people should be displayed,

Saluting everyday heroes with a big hurray.

Primary elections arrive much too early in the game,

Debates present opinions that are boring and are the same.

Programs on regular television are not inspiring,

Repetition of course, is very boring and tiring.

I hope that the upcoming new year,

Will bring smiles, happiness, and lots of cheer.
