The Only Sermon

Bill Walker

missourisage@yahoo.com

I heard there are millions of people in this world that has never had

or never will have a Bible. Also there are millions that will never see

a Bible, even in someone's hand. The only Bible that they may see is a

person that claims to be a Christian, therefore it is wise to let your

Christian light shine.

I was reading a little note from a lady who lives in Canada. She said in

the note, that she had passed the story about the Glory Train to a

friend.  The friend passed the story on to his grown children.

Seems he was kind of worried that his children may miss the ride on the

Glory Train. The man died, and his children had the Glory Train Story

worked into his memorial.

This made me wonder about sermons we hear from time to time.  Maybe

just some simple words put together on something remembered from the

past, may be the only sermon many people will ever hear.

Maybe my simple story of the Glory train ride to the land of the green

grass of Heaven won one soul, helping him to believe in the ever lasting

glory of God, Jesus, and a Mansion on the hill top.

Maybe that was the only sermon some might ever hear.  I never thought

of it as a sermon.  Maybe you never thought of your words, actions,

to others as a sermon.  So maybe it would be smart to think  what

you say, the words, the actions toward others.  It might be the only

sermon they will ever hear.

INNOCENCE

Dr. Harmander Singh

He was studying in standard one. He was preparing for his test in the next morning.

"Sunny, please go to bed,” she suggested him.

"No, I'll prepare my essay on dog. Today, my teacher laughed at me,” while preparing he said.

"Why, my son? She wanted to know.

"Mum, my teacher asked me how many legs the dog has and I replied that it has four. Then she asked how many eyes the dog has and I replied that it has two. She asked about ears and I replied that it has two. Then she asked how many tails it has and I asked her if she has ever seen a dog. She said she has seen a dog. Then I asked then why she was asking me about the dog. She laughed at me. Is not it insulting?” he was very sad.

His Mum could not control her laughter. He looked at her with his eyes widely open,” he was almost crying.

"My son, your teacher was asking you if you yourself have any knowledge about the dog. Just think like this then you'd understand your innocence,” she said.

He thought about it and finally laughter started and both of them joined it. It was the laughter of the night a rare gift for the next morning.

Daily Moral Insight for a Peaceful Night

Is not the innocence the most natural expression of human life?

Is not it a great joy to recall the memories of childhood?

Is not it an innocent insult to laugh at an innocent without knowing what he or she means by the expression?

Are not we having the greatness of life that innocence glorifies our life with the tender expressions of children?

Is not it a great discovery to invent laughter with a child?

 Fragile

Conrad S. Cardinal

Life is so fragile, like a dandelion cluster.
To hold it together, at times,  takes all the
strength you can muster.

There are so many cruel winds that  blow.
We don’t always know the right way to  go.

Choices and voices often confuse our thinking.
At times one feels like a ship that is sinking.

Often we feel as though we’ re the only one
in this spot.
Take it from me , I know for sure, you’ re not.

For the most part we’ re all the same.
Trying to figure out how to play the game.

This means that  some one who understands
is as close as the phone.
If you take the time to call a friend, you‘ll
never have to be alone.

If each of us were to take the time to be this
kind of friend,
the chance to get help  would never end.

Dear Mom

Conrad S. Cardinal

You are in my thoughts each and every

day.

I hope you know I love you more

than words can say.

I've missed you these many years.

The loss I feel, still brings me to

tears.

I miss the times we shared our hopes

and dreams.

You were the only one who knew my

secret schemes.

I could always count on you to help

me through my roughest days.

Your being there, time and again, helped

in so many ways.

You watched my kids and helped keep

my sad life eroding.

You just how to calm me down when

I felt like exploding.

Please know what's in my heart and how

much I care.

When it's time for me to leave this earth,

I know that you'll be there.

Marriage

Conrad S. Cardinal

Marriage can be a wonderful time, two

hearts joining together.

To build a life and family they'll nurture

in all types of weather.

Sometimes the days will be clear, the

sun shinning bright.

Other days may be cloudy and dark,

with barely any light.

Why are there so many failures, when

they could succeed?

They drift apart so often, failing to fill

the need.

Perhaps I have an answer to help things

along.

It may be just the step we need to keep

things from going wrong.

Men and women think so differently, they

must be aware.

Allowing each other to be themselves, while

still showing that they care.

While they continue to walk together, their

family growing strong,

they must remain individuals, singing their

own song.

If one loses their identity in the relationship,

the end result will be a hurtful trip.

 Readers Feedback

Good suspense-filled adrenalin rush followed by a well-taken point about jumping to conclusions. Reminds me of a joke I heard.  A protester in Los Angeles is shouting, "Allah akbar! Allah Akbar!" His companion jabs him in the ribs and says, "You idiot! You're in LA!" To which the other says, "Right! Si se puede! Si se puede!"

We all need a good laugh, in these troubled times, don't we?

Well, Respected Carol, you see I made a comment in hurry, so it needs some corrections, it is as: Respected Roger, you see at one hand we are proud of globalization and believe that we are the global citizens and on the other hand our focus is on the cities, states and the nations. We seem to have destroyed the wildlife, jungles, natural resources, all that is free from nature. If we, the elders have no respect for the Grand Mother, Mother Nature and the gifts it bestows, how can we expect that our kids should respect us? Who teaches the animals and the birds, the respect and enjoy nature more than we, the humans do? They learn naturally. The animal kingdom and the Green World has not changed, but we, the humans have, we seem to lack the feelings of reverence. The nature seems to work as if a humble servant, then who is the highest among all? In this age, the one who can impose to be hero is the idol, and those who perform duty seem idols as they are paid. Just ask any kid when they are paid for studying, why do they refrain to become the heroes, accepting the challenges and the cost it needs in the various fields? The answer may be the same. We simply need to have feelings of reverence for nature, it is setting an example, this is what I believe. Thanks for sharing so frankly.

With sincere regards,

Dr. H. Singh

Respected Carol, it seems that Respected Roger believes that one day we will be totally dependent on the computers and machines, and our importance will be little. The kids can't work non-verbally and the best teachers are selected by the aborigines if one is able to teach non-verbally, the most ancient people, in the Tsunami the aborigines saved lives, when the technology failed. The old days are our asset, we have what we have because our grand thinkers and philosophers did a lot. They were selfless and philanthropic, but we are getting so professional that human life seems computerized interaction. I strongly follow Sir William James as my ideal, who favored the naturalism, I express about naturalism, not the backward going. The naturalism is the human essence as is the existence of life in earth. It hurts, as you were hurt by your coupons given to someone else. Thanks!

Roger - Good one, but why does everyone want to go backward, to the old days? Why not come up to answers for today, yes everything on games, tv, etc. is crap, but we put it there.  Could go on & on, but reader try and think about some solutions. Have a good night. later b
