THANK HEAVEN WE ARE ALL ABLE TO DREAM!

THE DREAM IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE

Ellie Braun Haley
Our thoughts and words and the thoughts and words of those around us are powerful. They have a strong influence on us.

It has been said "do not constantly tell a child she is clumsy or she shall become so" and "do not tell a lad he is stupid for he will become convinced it is so and therefore apply himself no more." We are all greatly affected by conditions around us, and as I mentioned, by thoughts and words directed at us and by our own thoughts and perceptions (views/insights).

A golfer visualizes his putt traveling toward the cup and dropping in. This practice putt in his mind is powerful and will aid him in getting the weight (force) correct and the direction accurate. It may be the slight slope which keeps his ball from dropping, though if he notices it, he will also take this into consideration.

Visualization, our mental pictures, can also shape us. When I was working seriously on losing weight I visualized myself at a lighter weight. I also celebrated my weight loss before it had actually happened. I did this because I wanted my body on the same team with me, working with me to make it so. When I use the word celebrate it was not merely a celebration in my mind, I literally caused endorphins to increase by the excitement I generated.

We bring about so much by our own energy, by our own thoughts. Often we are armed to protect ourselves and do not utilize the tools available to us.

Many of us have felt uncomfortable in a room as we sense the negativity of another and if we knew how we would guard ourselves against this bombardment. If we but visualize a protective shield surrounding us the negativity will be unable to reach us.

Encouraging our children to dream, to aim for reachable goals is a huge step in achieving them. We need to do the same for ourselves. Talk about our expectations for ourselves. Dream about the aspiration, visualize achieving it and celebrate it long before it has taken place. All we think and do has the power to help bring about the dream.

"I like my body, every single cell of it! It is my own and I shall always dwell within, so I find it necessary to bombard it with positive thoughts." ellie Braun-Haley

ESPECIALLY FOR YOU

A number of years ago I worked for a college and taught for the college two days of each week in the city and for two days of the week I was on the road traveling for this same college taking my courses out into some of the towns in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Often I picked up hitchhikers. This practice caused a lot of concern for my family and to ease their worries I had to promise I would cease. This is the story of what happened one night in Saskatchewan.

The Broken Promise

She was returning from teaching out in a small community. It was only
9:30 in the evening but in November it gets dark early and it was definitely a black and moonless night. The car heater was on and she was grateful to be driving a dependable car. A blizzard was blowing in and this would not be the time to have car trouble, not on these roads! A teacher for the nearest city College, she'd been traveling the same route for over a year and there was seldom traffic on the little secondary highway.

She remembered back to when she had first started teaching out in the small communities. In those days she was constantly picking up hitchhikers. She smiled as she remembered the one young 16-year-old fellow she picked up one day. He kept saying, “Haven't we met somewhere?” They laughed long and hard when they remembered that she had given him a ride a month previously on the same road. She thought back to the day when she was on the northern route and had given a ride to a man. He was seated before she realized he was drunk and a talker. He talked and talked and made little sense. Finally with great relief she saw another hiker and picked up that one to keep the first company.

Her family became greatly concerned about her welfare over the hitchhikers but she continued the practice until the day her sister talked to her. Her sister's friend had been shot in the head by a hitchhiker, all because the girl stopped out of mercy to help a man in a storm.

The storm that night brought the memories. They'd gone to school with this girl. She was gentle and thoughtful. To die because of an act of goodness did not make sense. That was when the family heard the promise. 'No more hitchhikers, I promise!'

Well, I won't see a hitchhiker on this road she thought. It is unlikely I'll see a car!

She came out of a slight curve and slowed because a car was parked on the road ahead. These little highways just don't have any shoulders, she thought. Then she saw the man waving. He was in trouble and she slowed more. He looked like he was in trouble but what if he wasn't? A screwdriver on the floor was the only protection she had.

In a flash she remembered the promise. She remembered the old school friend, dead because of a hitch hiker. She knew this road well though and the chances of another car coming along to help were stacked well against this lone motorist.

She pulled over and rolled down the window. She had pulled ahead of the stranded car. Now as he ran toward the car in the dark she shook with fear and yet knew if he was truly in need she could not leave him here in this storm.

The stranger explained that his car was dead. She knew she had to break the promise and hoped she would live to see her children that night. She told him to get in. They drove for an hour into the next city and she took him to a telephone booth. She waited until he had made a call. When he reported back to her that a family member would soon be there for him, she wished him well and left.

Tears fell on her cheeks as she drove away. It felt as though she had been holding her breath for an hour. “I hope they'll understand why I had to break my promise. I think I've been watched over this night!”

A Wee smile
 Going To Church

A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside
The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."
Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.

May the wind blow at your back and push you in a good direction
AND MAY YOUR DAY PRESENT YOU WITH GOOD MEMORIES OF TIMES SPENT WITH THOUGHTFUL PEOPLE!

HONESTY

Dr. Harmander Singh

He was very angry one day because he was not able to decide why his honesty was not being accepted. He went to a philosopher. When he listened to it, he rebuked him saying:

O Mortal human,

Find your image

In an honest human, the mirror,

You see we may disregard

The blue thoughts

Between you and honesty,

You cannot believe

Because your

Faith is in seen things

But when

Believe, then also I feel

You may need to have faith

In the unseen; the experiences,

You see, we all know

Personal weaknesses

Bring doubt, Bhagouauty

In the honesty of

Others who deserve

It not, however it needs effort

To leave such flaws as let go.

 REVERENCE

Dr. Harmander Singh

He always respected his friends. However, one day he found that some of the friends are like free end. He bowed his head to his great friend and said with being humble in a manner of appreciation. He said:

What a day

I do not know

How I feel today

Nevertheless, I am certain

That someone

Dear to my heart

Has given me

A reward

Of affection

With delights of perfection,

Yes, my friend

Has given me

Great satisfaction, the gift of contentment

As a feeling of reverence, the honor

That makes Bhagouauty,

Humble his being

With great reverence

For and to my friend

That I have.
