My Dear Readers:

?

I am so sorry that due to a computer breakdown, and lack of finances to fix it (or buy a new one), there will?not be a March 10th or an April 10th magazine issue on?my web site (www.rosannecatalano.net).

?

Not to worry though... there is hope that The Cat's Meow for Writers & Readers will?return on May 10th, 2008!

?

If this should change, and there won't be a May 10th issue either, I will definitely let you know. Thank you for your understanding in this unfortunate matter.

?

Sincerely,

?

?Fritz
Bill Walker
missourisage@yahoo.com

I was doing the throw a toy with Little Girl, when I started
thinking about Rex and Fritz. I remember poor Fritz, just a dog.
He died before his time, but that part of the story can wait.
Rex was in his last years, had a car fix it shop. At one time he was
the Packard dealer here, Packard was a thing of the past. That is the
Packard Company had shut down, there still were a few of them about, and
other makes that Rex would work on.
Rex had this old building across the street from one of my gas stations.
Every morning? Rex and Fritz would be there. That was Monday to
Saturday.. Saturday was a short day as a rule. He might have a car
or two to work on. He really didn't care about taking on new people,
just? some that dropped in with a problem. It was nothing to look
across the street, and see Fritz following Rex around a car, looking
about what to fix. I think now Fritz was a helper in many ways. He
was a big fellow, and when Rex would leave for a short time, Fritz
guarded the door. I think his job was to tell someone that pulled
up, that Rex would be back in a few minutes, stay put, and don't be
thinking some tool would fit their hand. Also would you like to play
my game?
His game was to would bring you an old hose, you throw it, and Fritz
will fetch.?
Don't think you will? get the hose anytime soon to throw again. Now
it was nothing to see Rex setting in a chair, throwing the hose.
Fritz would fetch, and bring it back to him, so he could throw it again.
I remember one time, the girls selling magazines stopped by the
station. Now these was young dollies. All had a song and dance act
trying to sell those things, something about they was working their
way through some school, and the selling of these rags would help pay
the cost. I had heard the racket many times. I looked across the
street, and saw Rex throwing the hose, and Fritz fetching. I told the
mob, go sell Rex one and I would buy some. Well across the street
went this bunch. they came out the door faster then went in with
Fritz following. I watched, and I noticed the dirty look from them.
All went back down the street. Rex went back to throw the hose, and
Fritz was happy again. We got rid of that bunch, right boss?
Rex has a major blow out on a artery going to the heart, he had it
repaired once, this time there was no repair, and he never lived
through it. He left poor Fritz with Mrs. Rex. Well she sold the
place, and it was torn down, and a fast food joint was put up. I
would see her and Fritz once in a while. One day she pulled in and
got some gas, where is Fritz? He was still a young fellow, well
middle age for a dog. She told me she had Fritz put away, he just was
too much for her. Poor Fritz, just a dog, and in the way. Poor Rex
would have died if he was still here, he thought the world of
Fritz. Guess they are up there in Heaven, Rex throwing the hose, and
Fritz fetching. Maybe they might be fixing someones Packard, or
Rolls-Royce. Rex had a fellow that looked to him to have a look at
his Rolls once in a while.
Yes Rex and Fritz, what a pair. Every morning, here would be Rex, and
Fritz following him out of the car.

Today?s poetry is a selection of haikus from our very talented Tanja Cilia

?

?A baby?s laughter
Like the peal of angel bells
Strengthens the spirit.

A bridge to nowhere;
A long and serpentine path;
I'd rather stay here.

A fly?s a nuisance
A frog could be Prince Charming ?
Foxes are so sly!

?

?

A heart that's broken
May not want to be chosen
To love someone new

A glass that?s half full
Carries much more promise than
One that?s half empty.

A horse pulls at his reins;
Child rebels because of rules ?
Both have to obey.

A lightening bolt flash
A glimpse of the horizon
A moment in time.

A veil of silence
Covers me like a shroud

I feel so lonely.

A warm hug is salve
When nothing else will suffice
To heal the heart's wound

A withered leaf falls
And is borne by the current
To the Great Unknown

Alone with my thoughts
Clouds threaten to engulf me
My sun is no more

?Carol,
??? Thank you again for creating this special column for me.? You are the best my friend.
???? I know too that your current situation with the government will work out just fine.? I am pretty sure that it is just a computer mix up.? Computers have done a great deal to make this world a better place, but they have also brought a whole new set of irritations too.
??? Have a joyous and relaxing weekend.? Joe
