He, as the Western and I, as the Eastern Talk and Discuss-V

Dr. Harmander Singh

After drinking some water, we continue our talk.

“I see. How long did you keep your animals with you while working and studying?” he asks.

“You see the credit of it goes to my revered mother, she is an ideal householder woman. The family kept a dairy farm while we all studied while working with more than 20 cattle, cows and buffaloes for more than thirty years, though as we completed studies the number of cattle decreased and we had the last cow in 2006,” I say.

“Why do you feel that you have not achieved anything, it is a good that your family did lots of works and the studies, is not it,” he says.

“You see I do not want to be a joke of the day. The reason I regret is that it is difficult to progress in such adverse circumstances, which our family and I faced; I have helped so many people financially in so many ways that I have no funds right now. I just paid for helping people in trouble hoping that I will get good response and development from the future. However, it was a US$ 4000. We produced a TV serial, the first ever in Punjabi about the Indian Philosophy of Religion, Mythology and Mysticism, and the money has not been made paid to us, it about US$ 50,000. Is not it disgusting?” I say.

“Yaw, it is. Are not you proud of it that after all odds, your family could do such a mega projecting without support?” he says.

“You are right, we as a family are proud of it. However, the people, who we offered work in the team first claimed that they were helping as if they have invented a golden chance for us. However, later on their motive change as the money makes mare go. It affected other similar productions from our production house, as a result one of my approve script and pilot episode is waiting for funds to be telecasted,” I say.

“Wow, so you have a TV serial in your credit, it is a good achievement, is not it,” he says.

“You are right, but due to not getting the payments, the family faced lots of problems. For us, in the family, the philosophy, Divinity and Mysticism is hobby. Moreover, for my father, after retirement, while dwelling on his pension, he accepted the proposal of making the TV serial. For seven years, the pension went to this work. The loans and others points are part of it. The family’s income remained as if earning for it for until today, as it appears that the channel is not going to pay,” I say.
