 The Artist
by Clara Wersterfer
cbwest@webtv.net

My friend Anne has two daughters who are as different as night and day. When they were younger they shared a bedroom. Entering the room was always a shock, even if it wasn't your first visit. There was an invisible line drawn down the center. On the side nearest the door was Karen's bed. It was neatly made, stuffed animals adorned the coverlet. Beneath the bed Karen's house shoes sat side by side, dead center on the throw rug. Her nightstand was orderly, lampshade in place. The closet doors were closed, but if you opened the door, garments were hung in perfect order, colors together.

Here comes the shocker. Sissy's bed was such a jumble, with covers hanging half on the floor. Her throw rug in a heap, clothes in a pile on the bed and floor. Her lampshade was missing with the bare bulb exposed. Several pairs of shoes were scattered all over the place. Sissy never closed the closet. Here again we find clothes and shoes in the bottom of the closet. Most of the garments hanging half off the hangers and empty hangers protruding every which way. Had it not been for the perfect order of Karen's side, you would swear a tornado had struck.

Where was Sissy? Why was she not straightening up? You'd find her in the kitchen, creating an absolutely beautiful cake, while cooking a meal with the other hand. If it wasn't mealtime, then look for the artist creating an original masterpiece from fabric. Maybe a dress, skirt, drapes for the windows, slipcovers for the chairs. Sissy never needed a pattern. Give her a picture and she made a pattern.

She didn't have time for the mundane chore of housekeeping, not when she could make something beautiful. When her creative juices were flowing, please stand aside. It
was always worth getting out of her way when you saw the end results.

Here Sissy excelled. Every seam on a garment was as straight as an arrow and pressed. The hems of skirts were invisible. The fit was perfect. She was great at multi tasking, working on several projects at once.

Excuse me, but did I say she was doing this at age 11 or 12?

Now that Sissy is a grown up lady with a family of her own, she still works hard at beautifying her home and garden or anything else that needs it. Her children decided early on what was most important in life. They have learned not to even mention the messy house. They know Mother doesn't have time to clean and still make them the best Halloween costume in the city, or the prettiest cup cakes or cookies for school functions. Her daughter knows when it's time for her wedding her mom will make her a drop dead gorgeous dress, and do all the decorations too.

Sissy is never too tired or too busy to take part in anything related to her children. They pick up the mess, do the laundry and let Mother create. After all, she is an artist who thrives on chaos.

Searching

Tim Kevin
-
Silence is often golden
With words left unsaid
And never really spoken
But best whispered in bed
-
To awake my lady's wildest passion
For her to take me in her special fashion
That only you my darlin' know how to do
When lover's emotions are hidden from view
-
We met in all innocence nothing conspired
If a matinee intended a room we'd have hired
But no that intense an attraction just happens
Hearts reachin' for that moon in the heavens
-
Our bodies entwined now in search of pleasure
Seeking to satisfy that lovely pink treasure
You gasping in passion seeking our nirvana
Both lost in the rhythm of our private mantra

Betrayal

Janice Bumbalough Marler

He was handpicked and added to the twelve,

Unsavory from the start,

He had been given authority to cast out

Evil spirits from the peoples’ heart.

He healed the sick, and raised the dead,

From God’s lost sheep,

He was entrusted with the disciple’s money,

But he stole from it instead,

He sat at Jesus’ feet, this Judas Iscariot,

Jesus knew His ultimate betrayer; it was all in God’s plan,

For His time had not come yet.

Judas sold His Master for thirty pieces of silver,

His abandoned loyalty and fidelity; he made an allegiance with the foe;

He became Jesus’ enemy; two thousand years ago.

Judas opened his heart to Satan,

The dragon, the Devil, that serpent of old,

And Satan delivered the supreme blow,

Judas let him in; the deed was done.

As the scriptures had foretold,

“Even my friend, in whom I trusted,

The one who ate my bread,

Has lifted up his heel against me.”

At the Passover Feast, the ultimate betrayal had begun,

Then Jesus said, “There is one at this table,

Sitting among us as a friend, he will betray me.

I, the Son of Man, must die; it is part of God’s plan”,

Judas asked, “Am I the one?”

“You have said it.” Replied the Master;

He dipped his bread into the sauce and gave it to Judas;

Again Satan entered in.

He told the betrayer to do it quickly.

The deed was done.

Dear Friend:

My response to Sharon Bryant.  Exactly how I feel.  Couldn't have said it better.  I almost died at 20, had cancer when I was 22, and now 40 years later am still trrying to leave "that smile" when people remember me.

I usually try to "crack a joke" or "say something to make you laugh".  It's what my husband says makes him smile to himself.  He says" I have to smile when I think of all the silly things you do".  Laughter is love speaking to me.
