be written by Dr. Harmander Singh. The purpose of the column
is to bring the culture and joy of mysterious and beautiful India to the world. April 6, 2008 Harmander loves email and
feedback on his work. He would also like to know what topics about India would
appeal to you the reader. Please
contact him at: bhagouauty@gmail.com with your ideas. He, as the Western
and I, as the Eastern Talk and Discuss-VI Dr. Harmander
Singh “Oh, I see, did
not the senior workers in your production house do anything?” he asks. “Possibilities for
the opportunists are not helping, it is time to gain. You see the changing
values and the ethics are such that one of the person, whom we offered work,
asked us to pay some money to the producer, who did not want to produce the
religious serial. However, he also borrowed all the costumes and other team
ready to do so, but the budgets did not allow to make any profit from it and
thus he took lots of money as if a bribe, as if a golden chance for us so that
we may launch the TV serial,” I say. “Alas, it sounds
bad, did not have your family any experience in this field?” he asks. “Well, you see our
family had already co-produced a film on the patriotism around the mid of
seventies. Sometimes, some people want the full credit, even while working as
an employee. You know the person in the team gave guarantee of the production
equipments so that we must produce the serial and thus pay the costs for the
borrowed equipments and the costumes. We produced it successfully for about 30
episodes. After paying the half of the amount at one stage the channel offered
the cheques, as the part of the payments, but the person involved
forced others to return it so that full payments me be received. Once they
returned the cheques, the members of the channel laughed at us as if we were
the fools. They used it against us, though the court overruled it. The person involved
became revengeful, as the producers did not support his actions to earn
self-honors. One of the worst things he did was to conduct the live telecast,
which our production house was conducting at the Gurudwara, the religious place
of Sikhs. He tried to create disturbance in the production house. He gave
hundreds of missed calls to the people in the production house, sometimes
threatening. I have heard his threatening comments on the mobile, is not it
shameful,” I say. “Yaw, it is
shameful. Did not you earn some money from the payments, which the channel made
for the half or any number of the episodes?” he says. “Well, you see as it was a costume drama and
mega project, we were paying from our pocket, the reason was simple that though
the channel was offering almost the half of the investment for each episode. We
thought we should buy our own costumes and thus we bought it, moreover all
members in the family considered not get payment for any work while doing it
for the production house,” I say. “Gosh, it seems a
risky, you could have thought before doing it, however, as the cause and the
commitment were there, you seem right,” he says. “Well, it can
happen anywhere, is not it,” I say. “No, it happens,
but it should not happen,” he says. |
