Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to
spreading love and cultural awareness around the world. This column previously ran
by Deepak Morris is now taken over by Gautami Tripathy and now the column will
be written by Dr. Harmander Singh. The purpose of the column
is to bring the culture and joy of mysterious and beautiful India to the world. April 7, 2008 Harmander loves email and
feedback on his work. He would also like to know what topics about India would
appeal to you the reader. Please
contact him at: bhagouauty@gmail.com with your ideas. He, as the
Western and I, as the Eastern Talk and Discuss-VII Dr. Harmander Singh “Hey, your
family seem to have strong attitudes, is not it,” he says. “Yaw, it was the
attitude that our family kept for the society. You see my father never got any
honor from the authorities, relatives and the society in the form of finances.
He even did not take his share from the property, which he shared with four
other brothers. He just said that he was learning while they took care of his
family, no share from the property,” I say. “Hey, is your
father belonged to a joint family?” he asks. “Yaw. Moreover,
he never wanted to separate from his bothers,” I say. “Well, why he
refused to take anything from property of the joint family, did not court ask
him to reconsider the decision?” he asks. “No, it was not
from the court, the family members decided it and he took his decision and kept
the word. Moreover, with getting a
loan, he bought a small land to build a house. While many people offered him
property at cheap rates telling him that the society honors the money not the
ideals, he did not bother, not even toady. The film that he co-produced, along
with our family members though young, he gave money from his earnings, played
the main role of an Indian sage, but did not take a penny for it. Moreover, the
film is still waiting to for release. That was investment for social awareness
and welfare. The cause was good, but the result the usual one. He never took a
loan to build the house or buy a vehicle, like a car or so. His ideals are that
are the children are the living houses and the banks, whatever is invested, it
contributes towards their development,” I say. |
