 Dr. Harmander Singh

“Hey, your family seem to have strong attitudes, is not it,” he says.

“Yaw, it was the attitude that our family kept for the society. You see my father never got any honor from the authorities, relatives and the society in the form of finances. He even did not take his share from the property, which he shared with four other brothers. He just said that he was learning while they took care of his family, no share from the property,” I say.

“Hey, is your father belonged to a joint family?” he asks.

“Yaw. Moreover, he never wanted to separate from his bothers,” I say.

“Well, why he refused to take anything from property of the joint family, did not court ask him to reconsider the decision?” he asks.

“No, it was not from the court, the family members decided it and he took his decision and kept the word.  Moreover, with getting a loan, he bought a small land to build a house. While many people offered him property at cheap rates telling him that the society honors the money not the ideals, he did not bother, not even toady. The film that he co-produced, along with our family members though young, he gave money from his earnings, played the main role of an Indian sage, but did not take a penny for it. Moreover, the film is still waiting to for release. That was investment for social awareness and welfare. The cause was good, but the result the usual one. He never took a loan to build the house or buy a vehicle, like a car or so. His ideals are that are the children are the living houses and the banks, whatever is invested, it contributes towards their development,” I say.

“Wow, I like it. You see the person about whom you described took advantage of your way of thinking and living, is not it. I see. So, he intentionally played a game knowing that our family is not a professional as all are artists in it as you said that two of your sisters are MA in Music and the other in Theater and Television, and you are a writer. You know, such people know how to get advantage from the creative and artist people. Hey, is he a so sharp minded?” he asks.
