Discernment
Mary Dees Little

That distinct scent. Cowering through those trap doors, encompassed by the chambers that were locked by fate and ensured by time. Hurrying through my nostrils just long
enough for me to turn and glance behind. Did it really happen? Was it me lying there, unaware, or just an image burned so discretely in to the claustrophobia of my subconscious mind, that I argue with the fact that I only nourished someone else's trudge through a pain so potently consuming? This becomes my battle when such odor permeates, lingering just within a hush of a second.
The disregard unsettles me, yet distinguishes me in the slight sweat beading at the, base of my temples. Ugh, heavy again, why so heavy? Clinching fingers confirm the unmentioned injustice of a small girl so unmistakably torn between accuracy and accountability.
It did not just materialize, for the racket too echoes within my own deaf emotion.  The authentication seems to chastise my one inevitable escape. Stroking the small of my back
with my own arms extended around while recognizing the musk of of lost innocence, I empower myself with the discovery I find reflecting in the mirror.   In the tainted yet budding image before me, I see her for the first  time. I embrace her shortcomings and drink from her misgivings, but I own her light. It resounds from her eyes and perpetuates through her soul. I own her heart, unguided and patronized, though she is mine.
Her strength can not be swayed nor her truth betrayed. I swell with devotion for the woman before me, the honor I have left is given to her and through her I will thrive.
I am living, loving and recognizing the peace that solely comes with experience and the one truth that derives from a notion of utter belonging to one's self.
Fulfillment lends me satisfaction and satisfaction offers me the only justice needed now.
It was not my fault!
I say the words aloud in rapture,
So that no one else will capture,
The breath I breathe hereafter
During the discovery of myself.

Sunsets

David Fox

Sunsets come and sunsets go

from red to blue to indigo.

When the sun's not shining

they shine bright;

they're nature's way

of saying "good night".

You may use this in Storytime Tapestry if you wish, as I have retained all rights to this poem.

Your friend,

David Fox

  My Daughter's Shadow

Patricia Johnson

You are but a memory,

wrapped in my tears and regret.

Always, always I will love you,

my sweet, sweet child.

Your first cry, the first and last time we said goodbye,

your face unseen.

You are the shadow in my life.

One day we will meet and see each other face to face.

then, we will hold each other and cry joyful tears.

In the bright light of forever, never again will we say goodbye.

Today’s Dream

Tim Kevin
-
Today is of the utmost importance
It depends upon your performance
It may start with laughter or a cry
And end with a loving kiss or a sigh
-
But for today you are in control
Of the destiny of your own soul
Your yesterday's are forever gone
You may never see tomorrow's dawn
-
But today is here before you awake
And it's a present for you to take
Whether it is grey, cold and rainy
Or the sky blue, bright and sunny
-
Treat this day with respect and care
Tis a good time for our wealth to share
If it's only our uniqueness we can give
Or past grievances to others we forgive
-
What may you make of this opportunity
Will you contribute to life's community
Can you help anyone with a smile today
Be charitable and giving along your way

Tis no difference what today may bring
Heartache or joy that will make you sing
It's a chance to make the world brighter
Even if you bring only giggles an laughter
-
For whatever you do this day in your life
In this world so filled with pain and strife
It may help others in lightening their load
All may have a happier trip down this road
-
And if we're blessed with a tomorrow
I see a wrinkle of doubt upon your brow
Yes my friend there's never a guarantee
That the next sunrise or sunset you'll see
-
So in reality and truth today is here
Now is the time to spread good cheer
To help others burdened with a sorrow
For there may never be another tomorrow

Tell David thanks. I agree: "Okay then, who created the big bang?" Good question!!!! Any one or thing that could cause "the big bang" why would they? If "they" were powerful enough to create a big bang to start everything off, why would they stop there? How ludicrous, eh. The infidel who can believe that hasn't gone very far in his thinking, has he? Thanks David. You think like I do. Helen
