The wonderful
aroma of cut grass lingers in the area by me. The cherry and pear trees
are beautiful with their blossoms sprouting from the trees. Flowers in
all colors are showing up in flower gardens and along the highways.
And the birds are everywhere. Last year when we had the snake attack in our bathroom
window where a mama bird had her nest, we were going to close the window
permanently. But for fifteen years we've seen so many birds make their
nest in that window. We wanted to see it again this year. As usual,
two birds made a nest on each side of the window ledge this year. I've watched the mama bird sitting on her eggs for days
now. Today they hatched and I laughed when I saw the tiny heads with a
few strands of "hair" open their mouths as the mama bird fed her
little family. But today I saw something I've never seen before. The mama bird was sitting on the nest when the daddy bird
flew to the window with a worm in his beak. He gave the worm to the mama
bird, and she stood on the edge of the nest and gently fed her one
baby. I watched as the daddy bird returned with more food and with each
trip (four) I watched him give the food to the mother and she fed each one of
her four "children." It was adorable. I commented to my husband what a wonderful mate this mama
bird has, that he goes out and makes sure his family is fed. My husband said, "Well, you sure can't call him a
dead beat dad." It made me think of the difference in birds and
people. How many dead beat dads are out there who have walked out on
their families. How many never care if their children are fed or not. Maybe humans should take more of an interest in
birds. Sharon Bryant Choklite@bellsouth.net Poetry Corner ~**~**~

Pringle Father Time is a companion, whom we all come to know; For in the moments of the day, are the very seeds which we
sow. Each moment is a blessing, a time to reason nay or aye; It is in the moments which make
a difference, in the outcome of a day. It is in the moment, in each and every thought, which will bless or curse; It is in the moment, that Futures are made, of better, or of worse. A tiny fragment of our lives, the moments quickly pass; but whatever good shall spring from a moment, will, forever, with us last. ~© 2008 Sandra Lewis

~**~**~ The Cross in the Middle Sandra Lewis Pringle Once, there were three crosses, standing upon a hill. The earth had grown dark; the winds began to shrill. In the center of the crosses, was Jesus Christ, our Lord. His love had reached many, and ears had heard His Word. But, even though they listened, the Sacrifice still was yet to
come. He came upon the earth, to see His Father's will
completely done. He turned His back upon
temptation, and was able to deny sin. So, we, too, may strive to do
the same, to remain strong, in Him. We keep our eyes upon the
Cross, which stood there, in the
middle. We keep our minds upon His
Word, and we are saved, from thorn and thistle. © 2008 Sandra Lewis

Sandra
Lewis Pringle As a child watches for her
father, so I watch for You. Ever ready to follow. . . to do. . . . what it is, You wish me to do. Humbly, Father, I await, and watch for the sign. Truly, I know that I am Yours, and that You are mine. So, I sit here by the window, opened wide, for me to see. I expect Your mighty blessing, and for the Samuel, you've sent to me. Thank You, Father, for Your blessing, and thank You, for Your love. I await in stillness, for the direction of the Dove. © 2008 Sandra Lewis
