From my son Steven Roach:

I was thinking you should advertise the link regularly in your newsletter if the link doesn’t work just cut and paste

http://greenhorse.com/join_now.ghc?r=177952857

tell them it would help support the newsletter and they can earn money from it. They need to sign up and install it but they don't need to do anything else. They just do what they normally would anyways on the net and they earn money while it’s on. In other words they just keep it running while they are online. It’s small doesn't take up much system resources and they can earn more if they advertise their own link and get people under them as well. Let them know some people make 5-10$ a day on it and its been open since 2002.

Don’t forget to order your copy of Angels Watching Over Me, the story of an ordinary woman facing less than ordinary challenges.  Angels Watching Over Me is a story of family love, sacrifices, poverty and an undying faith that makes heroes out of all of us. Here is the link in case you have forgotten it: http://www.lulu.com/content/964306

As Seen In Insight of The Day

Gifts From the Heart

According to legend, a young man while roaming the desert came across a spring of delicious crystal-clear water. The water was so sweet he filled his leather canteen so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher. After a four-day journey he presented the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student lavishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart.

Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was awful. It apparently had become stale because of the old leather container. The student challenged his teacher: "Master, the water was foul. Why did you pretend to like it?"

The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of loving-kindness and nothing could be sweeter. Heartfelt gifts deserve the return gift of gratitude."

I think we understand this lesson best when we receive innocent gifts of love from young children. Whether it's a ceramic tray or a macaroni bracelet, the natural and proper response is appreciation and expressed thankfulness because we love the idea within the gift.

Gratitude doesn't always come naturally. Unfortunately, most children and many adults value only the thing given rather than the feeling embodied in it. We should remind ourselves and teach our children about the beauty and purity of feelings and expressions of gratitude. After all, gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.

Katie's Komfort Kolumn

Vol 1341

DSA

BJ arrives home from work to find about thirty dogs in the front

yard...

BJ:  What is going on?

Diana:  I am not certain..  You will need to ask Katie or one of our dogs.

BJ goes outside..

BJ:  Katie what is with all the dogs?

Katie:  Glad you asked father.  We are organizing the initial meeting of the

DSA.

BJ:  DSA?

Katie:  Yes, the DSA, Dog Scouts of America.  Rudy will be the first pack master, ahem, I have been voted the leader and Sandi is the Chaplin.

We have about 35 members so far but this is our first meeting.

Rudy is trying to organize and get the rules set up..

Rudy:  Okay, so far our rules are:  One, we honor our masters and we

honor our Creator.  Two:  we protect our families and our homes.

Three:  We help each other when we can and help the homeless doggies.

Four:  We will split into groups of ten which we will call sub-packs by area.

These sub-packs will meet once a week and teach each other things they

have learned.  Each subpack will send a representative or all can come

once a month to a high pack meeting.

Five:  We each try to recruit one new member a month.

Sandi:  We are set to vote on our flag.  A biscuit and a bone.  All in favor.

Bark bark bark!

Sandi:  Oppose.

Silence

BJ:  Wow, you guys are getting organized fast.

Katie:  Yes, we will offer training courses by experts for swimming, for

therapy dogs and other ideas.

BJ:  What a neat idea.

to be continued

From Cares To Prayers

Norma Liles

There is a footstool in my closet
It is a very special stool but plain
It's where I take my cares before
I take them to the Lord in prayer!

While in that little closet
I reach for the tender Words
That's found within the pages
Of God's love and forgiveness.

I thank Him for the blessings
I try to name them one by one
But keeping track of the numbers
Reaches too far in this simple mind.

I ask His grace for you and you
For our leaders and our troops
For all the ones who serve Him
When I take my cares to prayer.

I always wish to thank Him
For the roof that keeps me dry
For the food that sustains me
But mainly the source, the Bible.

I don't think I have thanked you, Lord
For providing the prophet's words
Or for the heavenly angels, Lord
Who proclaim your Holy Words.

I ask that you might bless the ones
The ones who read these words
I know these words are through my pen
Which is led by the Master's hand.

If you feel burdened down with worries
If your heart is heavy and sad
Just go into your own closet
Take your daily cares to prayer!

 Tzedakah ~ Righteous Giving

"Do not withhold good from one to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it." Proverbs 3:27

Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch points out that the word that is commonly used for charity, tzedakah, really does not mean giving alms. It is derived from the word tzedek, meaning "justice." When people give tzedakah, they may feel that they are making a sacrifice by giving to another person from their own money. They may even resent the recipient taking away from their assets. The Torah, however, tells us that this attitude is wrong: "Do not give with a bad heart." Deuteronomy 15:10 What we give to the poor is rightfully theirs, and the person of means is really only the trustee of the poor man’s property.

"Do not rob from the poor." Proverbs 22:22

What do poor people own that we can rob from them? This verse refers to withholding tzedakah, because when people do so, they keep for themselves what rightfully belongs to the poor. People who receive tzedakah should not feel humiliated, and people who give tzedakah should not feel superior. It is simply an act of tzedek, justly distributing what rightfully belongs to each person.
