~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter.  I have just one announcement today.  Sharon Bryant our very prolific writer has just sent in her 100th published story with Storytime Tapestry.  I am so pleased with the loyalty of all my writers.  You have all made Storytime Tapestry the huge success that it is.
  Now on to the good stuff..........
Some friends and I were discussing alligators and what we'd do if we ever were faced with one.
I told them I had a scare in the 70's, one I won't forget and I don't ever care to be in alligator areas again.
Four of us were headed to Miami to catch a ship to the Bahamas.  We had went down the west coast of Florida and had to cut across "alligator alley."  I'd never been through the swamps before so I thought that would be something to see.  I'd seen movies of it on television, and that was the closest I'd come to that area.
So there we were, four of us in a large Suburban driving, laughing and having a good time, planning on what we were going to do in the Bahamas
There are these little rest areas along the route, so we stopped at one.  The road is narrow, and you park your vehicle on the shoulder.  My friend and I went into the rest room, and when we came out, our husbands were looking across the tall grass of the glades.
There was a mound out there and on this one, lay a large alligator.  It was approximately
75 foot from where we stood.
Well, we all know how some guys are.....our two husbands decided they'd see who could throw a rock and get the closest to the gator.  They both began pitching rocks.  We saw the gator move slightly.  We two women were standing by the suburban watching telling the guys, "Let's go."  Suddenly, BONK.....one of them hit the gator.  The gator slid into the water out of sight.
I'd watched a show on Johnny Carson one time with a gator expert.  He said in water, a gator can travel one step to 10 of man's.  I kept thinking of that knowing that 75 feet is really not that far.
We heard him before we saw him.  I wish now I'd had the door of the vehicle open when this happened.  In a panic state, your fingers just don't move as you would think they would.
The gator was at the edge of the water just about eight foot from where we stood.  I tried to push the button on the suburban and look behind me as I screamed.  The gator was at least 14 foot long, and had a huge head.  We barely made it into the vehicle.
Just as we were slamming the doors on the suburban, the gator was within inches of us.  His mouth was open, I saw all those ugly teeth and though I'd heard they would strike at a vehicle tire, I really wondered if that is true.
It's true.
Just as his jaws went to grab at the tire, we got away.
Easter Morning 2005
Bill Walker
wildbill6807 @yahoo.com
Easter Morning here, the sun is shining, the clouds
are not to be seen.  Good Friday was clouds and damp,
even kind of cold. The cold, the damp and the clouds
have went away.
I wonder if that was the way it was about 2000 years
ago, in a land far away.  That first Easter Morning.
The cold, the rain, the clouds were gone away.  A new
day was up on us, a new start.  The old was gone. The
new beginning is here. All the past is now washed
away. All the sins past, and even the new sins we do
each and every day is now washed away. We now have
been washed in the blood of the pure lamb on the
cross.
Good Friday the sins died on the tree. Easter Morning
the Son walks forth from the tomb, not dead, but
alive. Death has been fought, and death has lost the
war. The Son defeated death.
The Son  The light of the world. Who so ever takes of
this Son, will not want for a lamp to guide them home
to the mansion on the hill. His words. For I am with
you,  I will never leave or forsake you.  I believe
God the Father, says, take my Son, who so every takes
him, will have a mansion on the hill, just beyond the
Sunset.
May each have a most wonderful and blessed Easter.
About Me:
Well I??™m a story teller, not a writer. Never learned the art of fancy English. I
happen to live in Nebraska, but I??™m still Missouri. Never married, all the Dollies I
ever took a second look at was too smart. Now at 74, just turned that other day, I
figure they all home safe. I love Doggies and Dollies in that order. Lost my two
true friends this year, that be Tinker and Poo. So I found me a new one. This
time a little girlie Peke. She is a normal female. Got a mouth, talks all the time.
She will never be a great writers of stories like Tinker and Poo. They have
about 50 stories on HWS. And now writing back from Rainbow Bridge.
I just try to write about people, places and things best I remember. Have something
over 250 stories on HWS. under three names.
Nam??™s Easter Memory
by Gary Jacobson ?© March 2005
Hill 881
flag 1st Air Cavalry field mass Purple Heart
Oh softly beams bright morning ray
On verdant green clad jungle hill so far away
In a foxhole bleak and weary, on bended knee I stoop to pray
Between blistering firefights rests an eerie calm
Hallelujah, it??™s Easter in the Nam!
Comes that great day of holy redemption...
Only there is no redemption!
Without fanfare, or pause, count on war??™s continuation.
Charlie still looks to kill you.
You still look to kill Charlie too.
But something??™s wrong
Sung in this discordant song.
Comes Peter cottontail, it makes no sense
Hop, hop, hopping through my perimeter of defense
Just a hopping through minefields of my mind
Down that bunny trail through concertina wire unwind.
Peter Cottontail hops and skips over my claymore
Unconcerned with this explosive war carnivore
Though shrapnel could in his furry hide tear a new one
Out where Peter couldn??™t hide, couldn??™t run
In my field of fire mad minute of the gun
Hot lead would his wicker basket impale
Ring that furry mop??™s fuzzy bell
Spread colorful Easter eggs all over verdant hell.
I shake my head, open my eyes...I don??™t see Peter
I don??™t see any lilies of the field either
I don??™t see any crosses
But feel intimately my grievous losses
Too familiar with feral sacrificial toss of the dice
In a land where death looms all round
Fear reverberating in every out-of-place sound
Stuck to your tongue with misery profound.
Yet, in Easter lies my hope in war tempest tossed
Lies my dreams, feel my loss
In the shadow of the Nam??™s unholy cross
Wherein lies my innocence, oh how great the cost
Here in Nam lies my boyhood, my very childhood
My na??ve soul, forever lost in feral wood
Unprepared for sorrows in sacrificial violence bought
Hate in soulful depths this Easter feeling wrought.
Like Nam??™s sweet and sour, good and bad memory impart
Bane on this most sacred of days ripped apart.
Nam??™s Easter memory brings both joy and pain.
Significant delight of hearth and home in ecstacy proclaim
While ne??™er forgotten faces in our hearts bring blame
Crying ???Why are you not with us in our destiny
Beside us now, on Nam??™s greening field of Calvary????
From peaceful Easter morn, where no peace is found
Only a stake in our heart to nourish that hallowed ground.
On this holy day I look to the Lord
Lower the warrior??™s sword
Bursting in my heart awed reverence
All hating temporarily foresworn in abstinence
Trying hard to find again that loving veneration
That filled my hungry soul before its ablation
Still wondering how ... and why
Still wondering why in the heart of my soul I cry.
Purple Heart battle mass at Dak To flag
Peace be with you, and may love abound in all you hold dear.
I'm sending you this Easter
basket to brighten up your day,
It's filled with eggs I've colored
and this is what they say:
The golden egg says friendship,
it's what I give to you;
yellow is for sunshine
and the sky with it is blue.
The pink egg is for love
that I hope you'll always find,
The green egg is for peace
to remind you to be kind.
Finally the violet egg that represents spring flowers,
to bring you joy and happiness for hours.
Have A Happy Easter
May God Bless You always is my prayer for you! NormaLee xo
FEELINGS
Gorden K. Warner
When you're walking in the darkness, let a candle light your way
when your soul is steeped in sorrow, let some laughter change your day.
It's not easy to be happy when there's sadness that abounds
but laughter has a healing force and you'll like the way it sounds.
Never mind that time is dragging and the days all seem so long
when it's important in your spirit and the way you sing your song.
Just try a little harder to let a smile cross your face
let more happy thoughts surround you till the sorrow is replaced.
There's no time to be unhappy, life's to short to sit and cry
You'll never know how far it really gets you unless you give it a try.
Hope everyone enjoys my contribution.  You have such great writers and I admire them so very much for their stories and poetry.  What a privilege to be a part of this family of talent.  Again thank you so much and God Bless.
Mark,
I read your story twice. It was magical and inspiring and touched my heart! I don't think I will look at butterflies the same again. Thank you!!!
Sharon,
I'm on Terri's side, too. This country will be held to account by God. God bless you, my friend, and God bless Terri and her family.
I forwarded your message to Lee Simonson, with the following note:
Lee,
I believe that you know this writer. Although I agree with her, I have been blessed to never face this particular burden of the mother. Please, please consider airing this case. I know that you are not one for politics, but I think this has gone beyond politics and into that part of our souls that wonders what we will say when we are called by God to give an account, not only of our lives, but of the contents of our hearts.
My deepest respect and friendship,
Jaye Lewis
I am with you all the way, Sharon. If only someone could get the judges to see that. If only they weren't so liberal. It breaks my heart as a mother to think about that poor girl starving to death and being dehydrated to death at the same time. I have a daughter who is about Tetti's age. I can't see letting my daughter die like that. It is inhumane. If it were an animal they would put you in jail for that kind of treatment. Everything is turned upside down. Right is wrong and wrong is right. God help us now that this has happened. The parents have no further recourse than to let her die. God help them. And God forgive me but I hope Michael Schiavo has to suffer the way that poor girl has.
Re: Sharon Bryant  - Amen!!!
Pamy Blaine
I don't agree that removing the feeding tube is the same as murder. I also don't agree that this woman is still "alive" -- certainly she has no quality of life. The fact is, she is as alive the same way as a tomato plant is alive.
In 1980, my grandfather was 85 years old and underwent -- at his doctor's insistence -- his third operation for advanced cancer in his spine. During surgery, my grandfather's heart stopped...and the son-of-a??¦ doctor "resuscitated" him. Because of this act, my grandfather spent the next week of his "life" being subjected to a torture that would have been forbidden to a prisoner of war. He pleaded with people before the surgery to stop forcing him to live (after the surgery, he had a tube in his throat as well as in a dozen other places) and he tried to shake his head. His eyes, unlike Terri Shiavo, very eloquently spoke to me and everyone else -- to let him go. Finally, after that hellish week, my grandfather's heart stopped again and even though the doctors tried to revive him (!!!), he was finally behind their "help"!
Just who are Terri's parents doing all this fighting for? Certainly not Terri! I say that if she will never be alive, then let her die in fact rather than continue the same existence that a plant has. (And just who do you think is going to be responsible for the hospital bills anyway? I'll tell you...her husband, NOT her parents! That mountain of debt will probably destroy HIS life as well! Unless you are willing to pay those bills, then I say you have no right to tell someone else to take them on...especially against their will.)
