In Honor Of My Father's
Birthday~He'd have been 73 today

In Loving Memory
Len at 70
Today, April 12, 2002, is my father??™s birth date. He would have
been 70 today. I have a warm feeling in my heart, not heavy or even sad, but I
feel the tension requesting my attention.
What I am feeling is the energy
of my father. I heard him call my name last night just as I was going to sleep.
I don??™t remember, but I suspect we met in my dreamtime. We do that from time to
time.
I just heard him say I was one of his favorite
earthlings.
It has changed now, though. He is no longer my dad. I sense
him to be more now, bigger and without the ego identification. He is freer and
more magnificent today.
He has forgotten he was ever angry
Or that
he was so attached to this earth
And the way things were
He??™s forgotten
now how sad he was
For such a long, long time
When his own father
died
And not until the miracle
Of his first and only grandson
Did the
spark of Love
And the remembrance
Of the miracle life is
Return to his
beautiful brown eyes.
He has forgotten the hills he walked as a
boy
The shoes he walked holes through as a man
The joy and excitement of
planning a surprise
For someone else to enjoy
He told me once that there
was nothing
He could ever buy for himself
That would bring him more
pleasure
Than doing something
That brought happiness to someone
else??¦
He??™s forgotten the personality quirks
Of those of us he??™s
loved
Recognizing us as our essence now instead
He??™s forgotten the
stories
He loved to tell
Of clever things his children did
Or of events
from long ago
That usually had a punch line
???The upshot of the whole
thing???
That made the tale worthwhile
He??™s forgotten that he loved the
jokes
He laughed at with everyone else
He??™s forgotten the race he had
with the clock
That he may have been running late,
But he was running all
the same
He??™s forgotten how hard he worked
How far he pushed to get it
right
He??™s forgotten the disappointment
Of watching good men fall
The
heartbreak of
Watching people he loved fail
And that his own life wasn??™t
more
Today I know that he is free
To sing and dance and fly
There
is no longer any need
To ask the question, ???Why????
Today he is Love from
heaven above
Gracing us with his Light.
70 agrees with you
Len
You??™ve never looked as radiant,
I know that we will meet
again
That??™s the way Love works
You will always be loved
You live on in
our hearts
You helped us all to be more than we were
You showed us how a
person can grow
With Love and intention and faith
With Love and
gratitude for all you gave me
For what you taught me
About Love and
laughter and life
For all the ways you were there for me
For the times I
fell and you cleaned me up
You helped me right myself
And said something
to make me smile
For so much more than words can say,
I thank you for
being my Dad
Your earthly daughter, Jodi
