The Book Says

Bill Walker

wildbill6807@yahoo.com

I don't get around to reading that old book called the
Bible too often. But I do remember some of what is in
there. Now I think we can talk about things and the
way it says in that book. Most of us just read it and
never give a lot of thought on what it really says. We
let the preacher, brain wash us with what ever is in
his little mind. And his thinking at that point in
time. Today this line is, well it will serve the
reason for thinking this line. Tomorrow it is wrong
and that is not what it meant. Or he puts a different

spin on it.

Now most of the ever day preachers, never studied
Latin. Greek or Hebrew,. In fact some of them don't
even know English very well. Maybe I could put on a
suit and try my luck at jumping up and down and
screaming on Sunday morning.

OK it says in the first book in the Bible, in the
first few lines God went to work. He made every thing.
The whole show was made and he rested on the seventh
day.. Now along comes Mr. Preacher, all he does is
muddy up the water.

Now if you read real close. It says nothing about you
going to live so long and die, that comes a bit later.
It also says nothing about the animal living so long
and dies. It sure says nothing about you and I eating
beef, and such. All of us and the animals will eat the
crops. Now while I got you thinking on crops. Lets do
a history class here.

It talks about corn in the Bible does it not? OK. Look
at that word real hard. It says corn more then once in
the Bible. I don't believe they had CORN as we know
corn. When white man came to what is now American,
they were shown what corn was and how to grow it by
the people living here in this land. Read your history
books. So there fore we have another place where
Mr. Preacher can jump up and down and say well it meant
something else. How does he know, he as I said
before, he as a rule don't read Latin, Greek nor
Hebrew. And that is what those people wrote the Bible
in.

Well take another look at that first chapter in that
book of books. It says God looked at all he had made
and said. "IT IS GOOD." He had made every thing. The
stars, the moon, the sun,  the earth, and all that live
and move about in and on the land, and in and on the
seas. He said, "IT IS GOOD." In other words, he was
very happy with his work.

God made man, God did the first surgery. And we had
woman. Now here comes the sad part. First off, man and
woman was going about in their birthday suits. The
animals were too.

Ok man did as God told him not to do. He and dear wife
seen that they had no duds to wear. So they made a
dash to WalMart and got some leaves.. God came along
and figured things out. Well from that time on man,and
wife wore a better line of clothes. But the animal had
to supply the hides for the clothes. So poor animal
was killed, not only for it hide, but for food.

Who sinned? It was man and woman, not the poor animal.
OK lets take this another step. How come the poor
animal never got to wear clothes? I will tell you why.
The animal never went against God's orders.  The
animals and the birds, and the fish didn't do the sin.
That two legged animal did.

Now this two legged animal claims to have a soul. Well
that it does say in the Bible. Even a simple mind like
I have can understand that. Now like I have said, if
you don't read real close, you are not going to get
the part where it says the animals have a here after
too. Well us people are only worried about our selves.
The devil with all the other things on this earth.

You read that book, it says in a few places
about, there will be in heaven and it named the
animals. The horse, the lion, the sheep. the cow. and
I bet there is some I haven't said a word about. Oh yes
even a snake. If a slimie snake can get there. I
believe my Little Dogs are going to be there too. OK
your Cats too.

I know a preacher that said, "I hope there will be no
dogs in heaven, as he hates his dog." Ok we got two
things here to chew on. First is the word hate.
Preacher works hard on getting that word out of
our minds. I believe the word is "love" we are to use,
not hate.. Now the second thing is I think his little
loving dog is going to make it to the gate. That
little dog is going to say to St. Peter... " Please let
me in, I don't think he is coming."

Four Seasons

Bill Walker

wildbill6807 @yahoo.com

Out here in the land of Nebraska, and the other good states next door for the most part we have what is known as four seasons.  You may also be so blessed.  Here we have an average temp of in the upper 60s to mid 70s.  Nice girl watching temp you know.  It just depends on a couple things as to how the average will go for the year. That is how many days near 20 below, and how many days near 120.  As a rule there is very few nights that it will dip near the 20 below. The girls just put on a bit heavy bikini. In summer there are a few days of maybe close to 120, then we see the real light bikinis. Some of the winter days the girls do wear near hip boots to trot about in the deep snows.  Then in the summer a lot of shoe soles. Those may show up anytime. Seems like girls are known to be a bit tougher to the weather conditions.

I think the four seasons are real nice to have.  If it was summer all the time, or winter, even spring and fall we would soon get tired of it. Each gives us much to be thankful for.

Take winter. The cold cold days, does much, that some don't understand the reason for. With out those cold cold days we would be over run with millions of different kinds of bugs in summer. Most would live through and the eggs from the past would make it.  As it is some do make it.  But those real cold near 20 belows takes it toll on a lot of those pests.

Summer days, sure some of those get hot.  But those are days needed for the grain to ripen, and dry out. The corn needs a couple things you know.  Water to grow 6 feet tall, and then dry days, many to dry out in August and September.

Fall. The time of year for the art work to be put on the trees.  The leaves to fall, in many colors.  Have you ever picked up a leaf and really looked at it, and thought about its life on the tree?   In the spring the leaf is so green and fresh. So tender to the touch. Much like a new born baby behind.  In the fall the leaf is tough and brittle.  Did you every wonder why? Well for one thing it is an old leaf now. It has lived its life. But in its life it did something. You see we need that pretty green leaf, and all the other growing green things of spring and summer for one reason. Those tons of leaves filter and clean the air for you, and me, and all the animals to have fresh clean air to breath. If it was not for those we would be in deep trouble.   Think about that the next time you vote to chop down some trees. That is one reason Nebraska is know as the tree planter state. Where did you think, and who did you think started Arbor Day? So if you ever come to Nebraska, take a day and visit Arbor Day Home at Nebraska City. If you come at the right time in the months of late August, into early October, you will find the best apples you ever will eat, bar none.

Now then spring.  What a wonderful time of year.  A hard winter is gone; time to plaint a new crop. The ground is mellow from the deep snows of winter, fresh to be worked. The winter wheat is so pretty and green, and growing.  Someone said to me one time that grass is so pretty.  Yes it is grass to some, come back about June; you will see beautiful fields of golden wheat. Waiting to be cut turned into the staff of life. We are the grain belt of the world. So the next time you bad mouth a farmer, think about how would the factory, or office worker live with out? You do remember the one thing?  God told Adam to do don't you?  Take care of the garden. Life does depend on growing a crop. With out food, nothing moves very far, or long.

Now I have touched on the four seasons of the year. If you stop and think, your life is much like the four seasons of the year. You come into this world, in the spring of your life. You are young and tender, you grow. Then the summer time of your life. Early summer you take off on the road. You sow oats; some may be wild oats, while others are tame oats. Anyways you work the way of your life.  Mid summer is like middle age. Then late summer is kind of like harvest time. Days start to get a bit shorter as fall comes on. The fall of life is in a way a pretty time, should be. But in some cases it isn't.   Then we see the signs of age, like the leaf. The body can't do the things like in the spring time of life. It has become older, easier to tire out.  It is old and brittle. Some would say used up. We see the younger push them into homes, waiting to just pass on.

We see the winter years of life.  For some those are the good years, for others not so good. A lot goes into how things have gone.  Some has been able to lay back stores for the winter years, while others just couldn't, or had the lay backs taken out from under them for some reason or other.  There is an old saying. "The well laid plains of mice and men often go astray."  I believe I have seen much of that, maybe you have too.

We all know what winter is like of the year.   I guess at last winter comes to us all. that is the life time of each will some day come to an end on this earth.

I think there is, and it is said the winter just means there is a better place for us. One where it is like spring forever.   You know I kind of like that.  Spring time is a happy time.

About Me:

Well I??™m a story teller, not a writer. Never learned the art of fancy English. I

happen to live in Nebraska, but I??™m still Missouri. Never married, all the Dollies I

ever took a second look at was too smart. Now at 74, just turned that other day, I

figure they all home safe. I love Doggies and Dollies in that order. Lost my two

true friends this year, that be Tinker and Poo. So I found me a new one. This

time a little girlie Peke. She is a normal female. Got a mouth, talks all the time.

She will never be a great writers of stories like Tinker and Poo. They have

about 50 stories on HWS. And now writing back from Rainbow Bridge.

I just try to write about people, places and things best I remember. Have something

over 250 stories on HWS. under three names.

THE GREAT DIET RACE

Joe Walker

At present there seems to be some significant difference of opinion as to
whose idea The Great Diet Race actually was.
Anita insists that it was my idea that she and I should race to see which
of us could be the first to lose 15 pounds.  And it is entirely possible
that words to that effect did come out of my mouth.  But that doesn't
necessarily mean that the idea was really mine.  I know this is going to
sound weird, but my wife can do this mind control thing that makes me say
and do things that I normally wouldn't say or do.
"Of course I'd rather go grocery shopping with you than stay home to relax
and watch a football game."
"Yes, let's go power-walking so I can once again enjoy the painful burning
in my lungs that happens every time I go out there and try to keep up with
you."
"There's nothing I'd rather do than go to the store to purchase feminine
hygiene products."
These things pop out of my mouth without being routed through my brain.  I
don't know how she does it.  I never see her wave her fingers at me like
Obi-Wan Kenobe does when he uses the Force to make feeble-minded storm
troopers say and do stuff.  Which suggests either that Anita is more
forceful than the Force, or I'm more feeble-minded than a storm trooper.
Take your pick.
But psychic manipulation or not, I was pretty confident that I could drop 15
pounds before Anita did.  For one thing, I'm male, and it is common
knowledge that men lose weight easier and faster than women.  I don't know
if this has anything to do with that extra chromosome, or if testosterone
simply melts faster than estrogen.  It's just one of those immutable facts
of the universe, like gravity, relativity and the home court advantage.
For another thing, I have sequencing in my favor.  The 15 pounds I need to
lose are just the first of many 15-pound increments that should be shed.
For Anita, these will be the last 15 pounds that she needs to lose.
Everyone who has ever been on a diet knows that the first 15 pounds are easy
- it's the last 15 pounds that are tough.  So I'm thinking The Great Diet
Race should be a piece of cake for me.
As long as I don't eat the cake.
Unfortunately, I didn't take two things into account.  One, Anita has an
incredible amount of self-control.  And two, I don't.  When she gets hungry
late at night she drinks a big glass of water and goes to bed.  When I get
hungry late at night I drink a big glass of Diet Dr Pepper (but only because
it goes so much better with that big plate of late night nachos I just
fixed) and sit down to watch TV.  And of course, after all those nachos,
you've got to have a cookie or two, which is OK, because I'm drinking diet
soda.  Right?
Still, I was feeling pretty confident as the moment of our first weekly
weigh-in approached.  I had only eaten an apple late the previous evening,
and I had almost actually jogged a little while crossing a street during our
early morning walk.  I was feeling fit and energetic and definitely lighter
as we approached the scale.  Anita weighed first, and I congratulated her
for the two pounds she had lost during the week.
Yeah, right.  Two measly pounds.  I felt kind of bad for her.  Two pounds
wasn't much to show for all of her hard work and conscientious dieting.  I
hoped she wouldn't be too discouraged when I stepped on the scale and she
saw that I had . . . GAINED TWO POUNDS???
Who's idea was this race, anyway?

I hope this place shall be here forever.......
This haven we've found for friend an lover Where we express ourselves
from with-in, Unsure of our steps and love's direction....
-
Even while fanning the passionate fires
That our wild fantasies wish to transpire
Whether from our mind, our heart or soul,
With passion an desire for a lover's goal,
-
Whether it be with longing and fears......
Or if only someone's sad lonely tears.....
That we found this space of ours to tarry
This haven, our love's secret sanctuary ....

Today Love

Tim Kevin
-
With tomorrow's coming dawn ,
This day shall be lost to us forever.
When you awake it shall be gone
But tonight's embrace I hope never
-
Will time erase many a little thing
The touch, look and kisses of today
The magic that makes one's heart sing
And the private whispers of love we say
-
Will it all disappear like clouds above
With the passing of this ordinary day
Made so special by passion and love
And emotions felt in such a special way
-
I wish it's memory to be alive forever
Not to be diminished by the morning sun
Even though we may not even be together
When dawn breaks as a new day is begun

Carol, I had a similar experience with cheese.  I too did not think to highly of any cheese except kraft slices when I was a child.

I was babysitting for a Jewish couple and they asked me if I'd like a piece of cheese cake....can you imagine!  Cake made of cheese! Yucky, was my inner reaction and I declined.  I guess once they had left for the evening I peeped in to see what a cake made of cheese looked like.  It was covered with strawberries so I decided to venture a try.  Wow! My taste buds did a tango :) I've been hooked since.

Carol, "A Very Special Child" was such a joy to read, especially
knowing that one of our granddaughters is also a very special child to
a family other than our own.

Thank you, too, for "airing" my skunk story.

Blessings. --Kay

Absolutely loved Kay Seefeld??™s story about the baby skunk.  I'm still laughing.  It was so
cute!
