STORYTIME TAPESTRY

Special Treat  - George Waters Ojeigbe

April 29 2005

Last night I learnt of the death of a dear friend??™s cousin.  It hurts like a hot coal placed in my heart.  I have never seen her in person, I have never spoken with her but I guess there is just a bond somewhere.  So I give my tribute to her where ever she may be now??¦

I have lost the opportunity of meeting her in person before her death and that is now forever gone??¦

THE END OF ANOTHER PRECIOUS SOUL

The stubborn wind of rain came rushing hard

Pulling down the gift of mother-nature

Echoing the words of destruction into ears

It brought the thunder thundering harder like never before

The lightening from the thunder bolts, sparkling brighter like dooms day

The water from the sky gathered in it thick dark color hovering on heads and homes

Dark as the darkest glossy paint

Darker than the thickest night falls

The anger of rain drops and the fuming of wind hammered on,

Bringing out from the earth the deepest roots of the strongest tree;

To the surface of the mother earth

Her words I have once heard

She was born and grew up on African soil

Her dreams usually filled with Africa

A testimony of the way of life in Africa

One from the Blood of the missionaries

Who were blessings to the Africans

Her time was made short as the stubborn wind from the rain

Tore upon her beautiful head the hardest wood from the tree

Instantly the driving stopped and the car stood still; total silence

The cell phone was running out of power and air time

A human came by to tell the story of the now immortal to the mortal at the other end

The soul in the car was already gone; back to the maker of all good things

The sad story came like a tumbling drum filled with coal tare from the highest hill

The gentle life was squeezed out of her tender body

Oh what a life

May her soul rest in perfect peace!
