Now on to
the good stuff.......... Animal awareness
series endorsed by MORE AIMEE Bob Shaw ???They??? say a
Shih Tzu doesn??™t bark, at least very little. ???They??? haven??™t met Aimee. Her
little rubber squeaky hedge hog is going deaf. She likes to sneak up on us
around a corner and bark when she wants to play, and now she??™s started barking
to wake me up, usually around We??™ve been
trying to get some grass to grow along the new patio, and Ronni had been pulling
weeds along the flower bed. Aimee decided to pull grass and weeds too. I didn??™t
put it together until Ronni had transplanted some flowers, and Aimee had pulled
one of them up, had it halfway to the other side of the patio, dirt and all, and
was going to transplant it back. If Momma can do it, so can
Ronni was in the bathroom doing her
hair and Aimee was watching. She climbed up on the bath scales, jumped down and
looked at them, got back on then off again and barked at them. I just smiled and
said just like her Momma, argue with the scales. Sometimes my humor sounds
better before it comes out than after. She must practice those looks in the
mirror before she uses them at me. When Aimee found the checkbook on the floor,
she took off with it and didn??™t want to give it back. I just smiled and Ronni
said ???not a word??¦not one word??¦! I can take a
hint. Having a puppy in the house changes
things. I put my socks on this morning and was surprised to see I was wearing a
puppy on one of them. Ronni said ???yeah, you should try folding clothes???. And she
loves riding the dust mop and attacking the vacuum cleaner. Baby the Cockatoo
shakes her head a lot. I??™d love to know what she??™s thinking. Especially when
Ronni is sitting in the rocker, rocking Aimee to sleep. It??™s a good thing she
doesn??™t believe in spoiling her. So ended Aimee's first week at
home. By Bob Shaw

Today's Queue Stories CD Writer Wouldn't
Work By Richard D. Sims I have a Compaq Presario pc. In the two years I
have had it, it's never given us any trouble. Us I said; there is three of us that
share it and for all the abuse it gets it's really done a good job for the three of
us. My CD burner quit on me and wouldn't work. It
would tell me that an error had occured and that the disc would not be usable. I
had went to Wal - Marts and got a brand new box of six Memorex Ultra Speed CD
- RW without giving it a thought. I figured I could burn them and reburn
them if necessary. We explored everything we could think
of that would cause it not to work. It worked great and then just quit. Why? Jackie and
I both went through all of the files to see if something had been deleted. Nothing had
and everything seemed be okay! What happened? I went through making sure all the ad-
ware & spy-ware was gone, even went through more programs searching to find the
problem. Then I e-mailed everyone I could think of to
see if anyone could tell me what was wrong. Some had a few good ideas but, none of the
good ideas worked for us. Still no working CD burner. I began to go on all
the websites to companies who worked on P.C.'s. Yesterday I was listening to my
truck radio on the way home from Four State Computers Inc. well at this point
anything was worth a try. I was bound and determined to get that CD burner going one
way or another. I got home and got on the computer and typed in
http://www.fourstatecomputers.com Turns out they had just put up this
website and I was the first one to contact them
on this new website. They called me on the phone and
told me that I was the first one to use the website so, I could have work
done to my PC up to two hundred dollars worth of labor for free but, the parts or
components I would have to pay for. We took the tower to Now here is the scoop, it was those Wal - Mart
Memorex Ultra Speed CD - RW's that just were not compatible with our CD
writing wizard! Don't get me wrong; the disc are good but not with this COMPAQ
PRESARIO. Richard

I??™ll Pray for You (part
2) Stunned, the old man froze.
He had not heard those words spoke since the day in the hospital. His
mind quickly reeled, scattered, broken thoughts all rampaging his baffled brain
at once. Could it be? ???Nah???, he reckoned to himself, it was
purely consequential. There had to
be some explainable, logical reason for
this. As the
car drove off, down the road, out of sight, the old man still sat bewildered in
his chair. He tried to remember
exactly what that boy looked like so many years ago. What exactly did that boy
say to him? Did the boy say ???someday your children and their children or someday
our children and their children??™?
He must
be getting old, his mind slipping with age. It could be that because of the absurd
twist of fate that he was letting something so trivial, insignificant rattle
him. Still, ???I??™ll pray for you??? drummed unending through his
mind. Slowly,
he raised his aging body out of the rocker and shuffled in the house. He needed a nap. Maybe that was it; all the excitement of
the day had made him tired. ???Your
mind does play tricks on you when you??™re tired???, he thought to himself. Once refreshed, he might see things
differently. Sleep
did not come easily and once he finally fell asleep, his mind refused to shut
down, infusing, interweaving itself in a series of broken and fragmented
dreams. He saw the boy praying for
him, saw his children praying for him, saw his grandkids praying for him. Over and over he kept hearing ???I??™ll pray
for you???. He tossed, thrashed in
his bed. He saw a figure
circumscribed and bathed in brilliant light, so intense it burned his eyes,
standing in front of him, arms opened wide. He awoke covered, suffused in sweat
and perspiration. He
busied himself that week with any and everything he could to occupy his
mind. His already neat house was
spic and span and freshly painted.
His lawn trimmed, hedged and sporting a new flower garden behind a
newfangled decorative miniature white picket fence.
Even
though he could monopolize his mind during his waking hours, his dreams, he
could not control. His dreams
insulted his integrity with vivid images, haunting images of that kid and now
his soon to be new granddaughter. It was
Saturday, and again he sat in his rocker, rocking smoothly, metrically. He
looked around pleased and satisfied with his weeks work and effort. The gentle, warm breeze filled his
nostrils with the fresh scent of the flowers. ???Ha!??? he snorted to himself, no
imaginary god was going to invade his home. He issued a silent challenge, ???if
you are so real, if you do exist, show me a
sign???. With a
gentle snore, he dozed, drifting off to a peaceful sleep. He was abruptly awakened to the sound of
tires and honk. Opening his eyes,
he saw his grandson and ???that girl??? approaching him, excitedly, both sporting
new wedding bands and carrying a
book. ???Grandpa???, the boy shouted, ???we just got married! Her grandfather married us just today???.
Then he opened up the book. ???Here his old school album, look grandpa???, the boy
eagerly exclaimed, ???her grandfather went to college with you. Did you know him???? The old man looked down only to see the
image that had been haunting his memories for so long.
Quivering he looked at his grandson, ???tell me about his God of
yours???. Kathleen Ann
