Fireside Chat ??“ Featuring ??“ Joe Mazzella, original writer for Storytime Tapestry

June 28, 2005

Joe has been with me since the day I started Storytime Tapestry.  His hard work and dedication has helped make our newsletter what it is today.  It is with great honour that I present his interview with Nicole Stevenson.

No Stranger To Writing

By Nicole M. Stevenson

Joe Mazzella married and father of three... graduated from Glenville State College with Bachelors in English and Education. He is no stranger to writing, he has been writing for over 20 years now. He is a father and dedicated to his children and is very giving of himself...a perfect example of a father in every sense of the word. A mental health worker. Joe works from home caring for his two sons who are both handicapped with autism. When he writes he writes with such conviction and determination. Joe writes pure and without acceptance only to share!

Nicole: Joe Mazzzella what made you want to write?

Joe: I started writing when I was just a teenager. I think it was my desire to share what I was learning about the nature of life, love, joy, and happiness that has kept me writing all of these years. Almost everything I have written has been about choosing and sharing a life of love, joy, and oneness with God.

Nicole: How many of your works have been published if any?

Joe: The editors of my local county paper have always been willing to publish everything I send them. In the last several years I have also been sharing my writings with other local papers and online. I have never really made any money from them, but that is not really the reason I write anyway. I am just so grateful to all the beautiful souls out there who have helped me to share my words over the years.

Nicole: You share such intimate details about your life, do you have think that you are sharing to much?

Joe: I hope not. :-) I try never to write anything that would be harmful to my family, friends, or myself. It is from my life that I draw my inspiration though. It is a simple life, but I think God speaks to me through it and keeps sending me ideas and moments of joy to share with my readers

Nicole: How many writing groups if any do you belong to?

Joe: I have never really belonged to any writing groups over the years. I think that writing groups are a wonderful way to learn and grow as a writer, but my own writing voice has developed over almost 20 years of writing my weekly articles.

Nicole: What or Who is your inspiration?

Joe: Everyone and everything. I get inspiration from God, nature, books, music, animals, friends, words, ideas. I think life itself is an inspiration if you just pay enough attention to it. I truly have been blessed to find so many glorious things to inspire my writings.

Nicole: You write and contribute for several sites are there any that stand out?

Joe: Every single one has a special place in my heart. I have been so blessed to find so many special souls out there who have been willing to take my simple words and give them to all their readers. Without them I would just be a voice in the wind heard by no one.

Nicole: Can you share something special about your self?

Joe: That is a hard one since like you said earlier, I share almost everything about my life in my writings. I would like to state, though, that I am an eternal optimist. I have great hope for the future of this world and for the future of mankind. I think that we are on the right path to finally creating a world full of peace, love, joy, and brotherhood. That is why I continue to write too. I want to be a part of creating that world.

Nicole: From what I know of you, you are a very dedicated father what has been your proudest moment?

Joe: I think that every moment that someone draws me aside and tells me how good, kind, cheerful, and giving my children are is my proudest moment. I see these things everyday with them myself, but knowing how great they are when I am not around makes me feel that I must have done something right.

I hope that was a good interview. It was one of my very first ones. Wishing you every joy my friend, Joe
