Candle of Love

Carol Roach

Cold and waxy, the icy feeling sends shivers through my hand and up my arms as it tickles my senses. I twist the candle round and round in my hand as I bask in the pleasures that these sensations created in me.

I enjoy the pleasure,
the erotica,
the sensuality.
I embrace the candle as my lover.

The smooth waxy texture fills me with a sense of calmness, while lifting me to a level of heightened awareness.

The candle serenades me
flirts with me
woo's me,
teases me with promises of what is to come.

The candle warms from the heat of my hand and the heat of my passion. I tightly hold its cylinder shape.

I stroke it
I caress it
the wax becomes sticky as it spews forth its love for me.

I feel the rough round ridge.
I follow the circle with thumb.
There is no beginning and no end.
impenetrable
unvanquished
insatiable

It is the circle of life
the circle of love
forever
everlasting
eternal

birth
childhood
adulthood
love
new birth
old age
death
and life again

The circle never ends. The flames of love never expire.

I roll the candle along my face, down my neck, and between my breast.

It is cold,
exhilarating
sensual
erotic

I feel every nerve respond to the touch,

I am alive,
I am passionate
I am prepared to embrace love and life at its best

I place the candle back onto the surface from whence it came.

I slowly raise the palm of my hand to my nostrils.
I drink in the wonderful fragrance; lightly scented but oh so powerful

the aroma of vanilla,
the scent of hearth and home
the scent of love
