Subject: Update on Sharon Bryant's Operation We Care - August10, 2005

Bound for Iraq:
Just so folks can see what one shipment looks like, here are the boxes headed for Iraq in the morning.?  I had a few more filled after I had this photo taken this afternoon.
This load is for 3 different camps.?  One needed wet wipes and the wet wipes are the ones on the table behind me and the ones on the far left side.?  The red/white/blue boxes are the flat rate for 7.70 regardless of weight.?  I have them filled where you couldn't even fit a pen in the box!?  I took advantage of the "no weight" charge.?  I wish I'd had these boxes two years ago and a year ago when it cost over $4,000.00 to ship the other boxes out.
I still have 15 cases of wet wipes stored in another location to get labeled plus two very large boxes of items.?
You can see the white papers on each box......those are the custom papers I have to fill out for every box listing all the items inside each box.?  Then the soldiers name goes on the right side? of the custom label.
All this takes time, sorting items, packing everything in zip lock bags, taping lotion caps, etc.?  I've never minded taking the time to do this for our troops, but I'm not getting enough support from the public to continue on with sending just items.
In these boxes are food supplies like cookies, beef jerky, candy, lotions, sunscreen, socks, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste,? frisbees, etc.? and I even had a Yo-yo donated so off it goes.
Two boxes are for 30 female soldiers and I made sure they get "that extra touch" with scented Bath & Body soaps, nice lotions, and just things girls like.?  The letter I received last year from a Sgt. after she got into the female box made me realize how much everything was appreciated on her end.?  She told me it was the best shower that day that she's had in the 6 months since she arrived in Baghdad.?  She said, and I quote, "I felt like a woman for one day over here."
This load and I'm guessing at it because of all the boxes I've sent so far.....will cost right around $800.00 to $900.00.?  I have $1273.00 in my fund right now.?  After I ship this load out, I'll have to do another radio announcement to get more funds in for the phone cards.
Even then, people are reluctant to step up to the plate and give a hand for our troops.
This is the last load of items that I'm doing.?  From now on it's going to be phone cards for the troops.?  I can fit a lot of phone cards into one flat rate box, save on postage, and I know all soldiers can use phone cards.?  I would like every soldier to be able to call home for Christmas this year, as many as I can help.
But I need help.?  If anyone wants to ? send me a global or international card for the Christmas delivery, please do.?  I will be shipping that? shipment out the second week of November so the troops get them in time for Christmas.
And please continue to send me cards and letters if you want as they also go into the boxes.
I'm also having our local schools write cards and letters again for Christmas.?  If anyone cares to give a hand, send a phone card to:
