Let??™s Change the Law

Jan Verhoeff

Recently an issue came up in a local court, custody case where the parents were never married. A young girl has a baby and is currently in a relationship with a lot of promise. Her finance has a job, works steady, and they are raising two children together, in a nice home, nothing fancy, but it's nice. She's working where she can take the kids with her to work, has plenty of help with them, and makes good money. Bio father of her child doesn't work steadily, has never held a job more than six weeks at a time, is renowned for his drug use. His blood/hair tests showed positive for cocaine use within the past week before the test. The judge still gave him very liberal visitation of the child (less than two years old), three weekends a month. The man pays no child support, and lives in a house his family provides, and spends any money he does get doing drugs. He has no driver license, no transportation, and no phone. During the time he has the child, the mother has NO CONTACT.

In the valley newspaper recently, a 28 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal substance and the child was taken into custody by Social Services.

Critical information.

The custody visitation case above has some interesting connections. The bio father is a felon. His attorney is married to the chief of police. The judge in the case, is the same judge who handled the felony case a couple of years ago. The probation officer in the case is the bio-father's step-mother's ex-husband.

Is this just a case of small town justice??? I don't think so. I think something is wrong with a system that on one hand condemns people for having possession of drugs, and takes away their children to foster care, and on the other hand supports their use of drugs and gives them rights to their children. Whatever happened to fair and impartial law? What happened to children's rights?

Just my thoughts...

I think a man have a few things he should be right proud of. A couple comes to my mind. One would be his wife. He should be, she took him for better or worse. She has over time tried to make him a little better.  At times she knows it is hopeless, she still tries. Now some may not have a wife, but has a lady friend, well he should be proud of the fact she has hopes of getting a "I do " some day.  Then there is the children he may have.

Now if he isn't  proud of his children, he liking something between the ears, and it may not be hair. His girlie pictures has long time ago been replaced by pictures of his children. He is always ready to pull the kids pictures out and show them off.

I think if a man is proud of his kids, they will do better in many ways. You know the child will think I have to try to do better, in school, or playing ball, or what ever. If a child don't have a cheering section at home, when and where will there be a cheering section? A child should have quite a cheering section. Mother, Dad, Grandmothers, Grandfathers, and others of the family. I was thinking of one family in American history about this.  One became President.  J.F.K. Makes no difference, which one tried to do something, there was the cheering section.

I know, I carry pictures of my kids, always glad to show them to anyone. These are my kids, lookie here, this is Tinker, this is Poo, and here is my latest one. Little Girl. Isn't she a beauty?

About Me:

Well I??™m a story teller, not a writer. Never learned the art of fancy English. I

happen to live in Nebraska, but I??™m still Missouri. Never married, all the Dollies I

ever took a second look at was too smart. Now at 74, just turned that other day, I

figure they all home safe. I love Doggies and Dollies in that order. Lost my two

true friends this year, that be Tinker and Poo. So I found me a new one. This

time a little girlie Peke. She is a normal female. Got a mouth, talks all the time.

She will never be a great writers of stories like Tinker and Poo. They have

about 50 stories on HWS. And now writing back from Rainbow Bridge.

I just try to write about people, places and things best I remember. Have something

over 250 stories on HWS. under three names.

~ People Do the Oddest Things ~

Joyce C. Lock

We send our best wishes for holidays, birthdays, get well, weddings, and such.  Yet, why are we wishing for anything when we could really bless them in prayer?

We go into a state of panic when our child is a few minutes late, as if our worry is going to get them home any faster than trusting God.  Satan must get a good laugh.

We receive aggravation on every side, as Satan is alive and well on Sundays.  Thinking we do not need God??™s help and no one will be the wiser, we go it alone; with our painted smiles, polished attire, and frustrations neatly tucked ... then take it out on our waitress.

When our spouse is out of town; we receive comfort in a friend sleeping over, us staying at mom??™s, or one of the kids climbing into bed ... as if any person present can make us safer than we already are.  God is our protection.  Though, maybe we??™d rather believe the dark will get us.

Instead of asking the one who owns it all; we spend money we do not have on things we think we have to have, get our finances all messed up, then cry, ???Help!???

We sleep in on Sunday morning, thinking it will make our day brighter.  Instead, it makes our week longer.

We prefer to exhaust ourselves with endless deeds than to slow down, spend time with God, and ask Him what He wants us to do.

We work all the overtime we can get, steal God??™s tithe, and then think we are going to financially get ahead.

Believing our doubts and doubting our beliefs; were we to consider the things we do, we might find them odd, too ... then look for more desirable alternatives.

As someone once said, ???When we feed our faith, our doubts will starve to death.???

THE BREAK UP

Saskia Nienna Streidel

A clear line

A straight GOOD BYE

You wrote it to me

Like a poem on my body.

You used my heart blood to do it.

Blood on white skin

And a red pencil on the white paper.

IT IS OVER.

Now I have clarity.

And my heart will heal again.

Laughter and love

Saskia Nienna Streidel

A melody in the wind tells me about love. It is the whisper of the trees in my old garden. Wise words ??“ given to the wind, so they will be shared with everybody who is able to wonder.

A laughter, given to the wind, is like a prayer of hope and energy, like the wisdom of love and like an answer to every question in this world.

Laughter and love, both given to the wind, are presents for us, if we are able to use them wise enough.

Led by the Master

Norma Liles

In His arms I am happy

Like a child who has fallen

He picks me up and soothes the pain

Being led by His nail pierced hands.

Oh my, how I love to love Him

From here in this life of mine

Thank you, Jesus, for being

There for me, day and night.

My heart is so full I can barely contain

All the joy that my heart feels

Knowing I am protected by you

From here and through eternity.

How I love to share your love with others

Praying they will follow you, too

You are my Blessed Father, Redeemer

The Alpha, Omega are You!
