In answer to Sharon Bryant??™s story, Uniform or Gown

Dress Code

Bill Walker

I guess I too am old fashion, and maybe out of step with today??™s world. I have had a few shockers the last few weeks. While back I was in a place getting my clunker worked on. This was a big car dealers place. Nice big waiting room. Some babe came prancing in with a small dog tucked under one arm, no leash. I and every one else took note of her dress, maybe better word would be lack of dress. Skirt was short, very short. Couldn't have been any shorter, also it didn't go up very much above the bottom edge. The top if you could call it top, didn't amount to much either. Dog was dressed in an outfit that I think had a bit more cloth. She put dog on floor, and it being a male ran to
check out mine, that would be Little Girl. Here lack of clothes comes to get her mutt. I think I seen quite a bit, more then I have seen in quite sometime.

A few days ago I was dining with a preacher and his wife. Some babe pranced by. I believe lot of years ago I seen a stripper that had more cloth on. That is at the end of her act.

I went to a so called Southern Baptist church the other day. I was used to Southern Baptist as being
pretty much tight on dress codes and other things. Well this joint, I thought was a night club.?  Dance
band really doing the hip hop stuff, and a lot of the women and girls dressed right for that, or again lack of clothes one would think of in a church of any kind. Some of the up to date young and older model girls, seemed to like showing the tattoes also, and rings in the belly buttion neck of the woods. Oh the drummer boy, wearing leather arm bands, with rings in them. Leather straps handing here and there. Chains hanging here and there. Ear rings also, heck he is the preacher son. The best part is at last the preacher showed up. I thought it was a bum, he was in shorts, loud shirt, and flip flop shoes. I still think I got lost, and hit a night club that hadn't shut down from Saturday night.

Guess I just don't understand today??™s fashions.

http://www.iuniverse.com/bookstore/book_detail.asp?&isbn=0-595-35741-5

About Me:

Well I??™m a story teller, not a writer. Never learned the art of fancy English. I

happen to live in Nebraska, but I??™m still Missouri. Never married, all the Dollies I

ever took a second look at was too smart. Now at 74, just turned that other day, I

figure they all home safe. I love Doggies and Dollies in that order. Lost my two

true friends this year, that be Tinker and Poo. So I found me a new one. This

time a little girlie Peke. She is a normal female. Got a mouth, talks all the time.

She will never be a great writers of stories like Tinker and Poo. They have

about 50 stories on HWS. And now writing back from Rainbow Bridge.

I just try to write about people, places and things best I remember. Have something

over 250 stories on HWS. under three names.? ? ?

How Amazing Grace affected my life

Norma Liles

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound!?  Did you hear that or did you just see it??  Think about what you have just read and I pray that you have come to terms with what it really really means!

Many years ago, God extended the hand of salvation to me which I accepted but on top of His redeeming love, He included Grace; the Grace that is as His love; unconditional!

As the words say: 'how sweet the sound!'?  What a wonderful sentiment that is music to my heart and soul!?

He saved a 'wretch' like me who was bound for another place for eternity but today, I am one of His saints because He has granted me that station plus He is preparing a place for me AND He plans to come and take me home someday to live with Him eternally!.

I once 'was blind' to all of His atoning power and unending mercies but now, because He lives, I have been made new with His: Amazing Grace!

Star Light, Star Bright

Margo Fallis

???What are you looking at, Daddy???? Kyle stood in the doorway, gazing at his father.

???I'm doing a little star watching. Would you like to have a look???? John scooted off the stool, leaving it empty for his son.

Kyle rushed to his father and climbed on the three-legged stool. ???What do I do, Daddy????

???Put your eye right here,??? he pointed to the eye piece.

???Wow! I see stars! They twinkle, just like in the song.??? Kyle hummed the tune to his father's smile.

???Keep your eye still, Kyle. I'm going to turn it a little so you can see the Orion Nebula.??? John made some adjustments on the powerful telescope. ???Look for something red.???

???I see it, Daddy. It looks like an explosion of color. Why is it red???? The boy's face scrunched together as he rearranged his face to a more comfortable position.

???Nebulas are explosions, Kyle. Very good description. They are gases mixed with interstellar dust. The red is expelled energy from other stars. You know what your mom used to say???? John lifted his son off the stool.

???What, Daddy? What did Mommy say???? Kyle wrapped his arms around his father's neck.

???She used to say I was silly to look at the stars all the time. You know what I say????

Kyle shook his head from side to side.

???I say that a telescope is a window to the sky. Any time I want I can come out here, look through the lens and see millions of stars, scattered across the blackness of the eternal universe.??? John carried the boy inside and put him down on his bed. ???It's time to go to sleep.???

???Daddy, if the telescope is a window to the sky, can you see Mommy up in heaven? She used to tell me to look for the brightest star and that would be her in heaven, watching me.???

John caught his breath. A tear formed in the corner of his eye. ???Would you like to go back outside and look for Mommy????

???Oh yes, Daddy! Then I promise I'll go right to sleep.???

Kyle took his father's hand and led him to the balcony. Once again he climbed on the stool and waited while his dad adjusted the telescope.

???Let me look into heaven. There's the brightest star. Some people call it Sirius and some call it the Dog Star. I think it's your mother. Would you like to look????

Lowering his eye, Kyle gazed through the telescope. ???Daddy, I think it's Mommy. Look how bright it is. That has to be her! She promised she'd be there watching me while I slept.??? Pearls of tears dripped from his eyes. ???I miss her, Daddy.???

John hugged the boy. ???I miss her too, Kyle. Now, let's get you to bed.??? He tucked Kyle under the covers.

???Pull the curtains open, Daddy. I want to see Mommy.??? Kyle rolled on his side.

The curtains parted, giving a view of the starlit heavens.

???Good night, Kyle. Sweet dreams.???

???Good night, Daddy. Good night, Mommy.???

Just for a moment, Sirius flicked a little brighter than normal.

~ Religion ~

? Joyce C. Lock

? ? ? ?  Mahatma Gandhi once said, "I believe in the fundamental truth of all great religions of the world.?  I believe that they are all God-given and I believe that they were necessary for the people to whom these religions were revealed.?  And I believe that if only we could all of us read the scriptures of the different faiths from the standpoints of the followers of these faiths, we should find that they were at bottom all one and were all helpful to one another."

? ? ?  "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,? or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.?  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence,"
Co. -18.

? ? ? ?  There is at least some truth in every religion and things that are not true about all religions.?  Religion changes with every generation.?  And, with the huge multitude of religions, it seems absurd for anyone to think they have all the answers.

? ? ? ?  Many churches have become any of the following: cold, dead, legal, stuffy, and or a social club.?  Often, they are so very educated that they no longer get their instruction from God (acting like they are God).

? ? ? ?  And, even some of the most spiritual churches appear as if they know everything God believes, everything He thinks.?  They don't even have to ask Him, as they already know all the rules.?  They decide who is worthy to serve, who the right gender is, and who has all the right stuff.

? ? ? ?  Some worship their leader, or their religion, instead of God.?  Others just find it easier to believe whatever they're told to believe.

? ? ? ?  Even scripture bears record that God does not always answer the same way.?  He decides matters based upon the heart.?  Those He chose were often misfits, who didn't have all the skills but would depend upon Him.?  When people are spiritually held captive from serving God, it isn't God's doing.?  There are a lot of Pharaohs out there.

? ? ?  "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world," Ja. 1:27.

? ? ? ?  So, unless our religion is pure and completely undefiled, maybe we need to be listening for God instead of telling Him what He believes.

? ? ? ?  Perhaps it would help us all to consider that (anytime we are not listening for the Spirit, walking in the Spirit, following the Spirit) we are sitting on God's throne.

Jesus preached the Kingdom of God, not Christianity.
