Special Treat ??“ From Me!

Oct 12, 2005

This piece was written back in July when I was having a lot of difficulty with a certain person who continued to negatively criticize my work. This continued for a long period of time. This piece is a stream of consciousness piece reflecting my feelings at the time. Since then we have reconciled; he does not comment on my work anymore.

How Can I not react?

Carol Roach

I am not in the mood to write.?  I am very down.?  I am fed up with X attacking my work.?  I have asked him over and over again not to read my work if he hates it so much.

Here is his last comment:

I AM SICK TO DEATH. on 03-Jul-05 at
...of these extravagant, hyperbolic and obviously untrue statements!

Every soul is beautiful. Every soul has something to offer.

Right away I think of Hitler, Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

I? know it is easy to say forget about it and move on, he is but one voice.?  That to me is hyperbole at this moment.?  This man continues to read my work which he has stated he doesn't like and leaves vicious or just plain ridiculous comments.?

I have already? written how I cut him out of my life as a friend.? And I have asked him not to comment on my work.? He won't listen. He is like the paparazzi hounding me.

The secret of life is to ignore people like that. I have tried. He still won't leave me alone. It is bigger than him.?  The secret of life is to cut these people out of my life.?  I have tried. I even wrote a letter to the site manager to see if he could? block him somehow from commenting on my pearls.

I am left with two options as I see it, either stop putting up my stories and he would have nothing to comment on, or leave the site and stop writing them altogether.

Right now I am angry, because I have done everything from the beginning which was to explain to him how I did not feel his comments were helpful, to now.?  His answer to me was ???grow up!???

There is no reasoning with this man which by the way was one thing I considered to be a secret of life - the ability to work things out. He is a prime example of how it does not always work.

What is the secret of my life now, in light of this nuisance that I cannot shake off; short of curtailing my own activity on the site??  I don't know.?

Sometimes in life you don't always have the answers.?  The only secret of life I know is that whatever way I choose to resolve this issue, there will be a consequent, what that is, and whether positive or negative at this point I do not know.
