The Journey of Soul

By Surinder Jandu

surinderjandu@hotmail.com

It was 1997, when I used to travel on the bus from Coventry to Leicester once every month to get an injection for flu, on private. I had tried for years on National Health Service but it was not going. My sister Inderjit suggested getting injections from her doctor, which I had to pay for. Her Indian doctor claimed he could cure me. My sister would send her son or husband to pick me up from the bus station in Leicester to take me home. After some refreshments, she would phone her doctor to visit her house for the injection. It was always on Wednesdays.

One day, after a usual chit chat about our personal lives and day-to-day problems, usually problems on my side, I started telling her my dream of the previous night.

I dreamt that I was in India and my mother and I were walking out of our village??”alone. It was an evening time??”the time when the sun could disappear quickly leaving total darkness behind. It was a deadly silence and we had our heads bowed down. Our eyes and ears expected nothing to see or hear in this strange quietness. My mind body and soul were scared of something--something un-expected to happen. We walked very slowly as if against our will??”towards the grave-yard.

There at the grave-yard, we both sat down on the ground, waiting for something to happen. It was getting darker quickly and we could just see the shapes of each other.

I looked towards the sky and saw the white clouds forming into shapes and becoming pure-white angels with wings. Two angels descended towards us. They filled my mum??™s head-scarf with lots of dried fruit and nuts and mine with fresh fruit. They spoke as they filled our scarves, ???You eat this and you eat this.??? Then they flew back towards the sky and I woke up.

As I finished telling my dream, I asked my sister with a heavy voice, ???Do you think I am going to die soon, because I saw the angels of death?

My sister said she also saw our mum in her dream the same Tuesday night. My sister told me that she was very frightened in her dream and started screaming at the top of her voice. Then she heard some voice saying, ???There are lots more screams coming your way.???

We both sisters cried together at the unknown. My stomach felt strange tightness and the body became tense. ???Who knows, my husband might kill me sooner than I thought.??? I said

The next week, we both received letters from our dad in India with the bad news. Our dear mother passed away on the same Tuesday evening when we had dreamt about her.

How strange we thought. Her soul must have travelled to see us for the last time. We were the youngest ones of the six siblings and left our parents nest the last to go abroad. She had missed us very badly. It was not financially viable in those days to visit India often and she had not seen us for many years. We heard that she used to search for us in crowds of children coming from school; children playing outside and girls laughing together.

When my dad died in 1980, my mum came in my dream again to tell me about my dad??™s death. I saw her lying in bed when my dad??™s body was being taken away. I asked mum to get up and come along, but she refused. Then I woke up.

Now since my son had passed away, I have seen his face in my troubled times and happy moments. I feel comfort and warmth. I feel he is always with me. I have hugged him and talked to him in my dream

I believe that the departed souls can see us and can communicate with us through our dreams.

Power of Prayer

Surinder Jandu

I had my heart by-pass operation in 1997 where both my legs were badly infected. A nurse called Jane used to come daily to my house to change dressings.

One day--as I sat with both legs stretched on the sofa--? feeling really depressed about my condition and life without my son whom I lost 2 years before, I poured my heart out to the nurse.

"I wish my son was here today", I sobbed as I missed him terribly.

The nurse Jane was very sympathetic and advised that I should see her friend who was a psychic. She was? on holiday in Australia at that time and Jane gave me her phone number to find out when she was back.

I kept trying until she answered the phone. I mentioned Jane's name and asked to see her if she did not mind. She agreed and I went to see her as planned.

She sat me down and started telling me about several people from my family crossed over to the other side, but I was anxcious to hear about my son. She told me about a man wearing turban and holding a white flower for me and was very happy to meet me. I said he could be any one as there were so many members crossed over to the other side.

However after a while she said, "I see a man about 5 feet 10 inches tall, very handsome, slim built and he is holding his chest as if it was painful. It seems he died from that problem".

Tears started streaming down my eyes as I said, "Tell me more about this--man--." as my son had died? of big tumour in his chest. Doctors could not operate as it was close to his heart, lungs and other vital parts. He was given chemotherapy and radiotherapy etc.

She said, "He is saying that he used to love to make people laugh but during his illness, he could not do this because he was in so much pain. He could not tell his mum this to make her upset."

"This is my son" I cried. She put a big box of tissues in front and I kept throwing wet ones down quickly.

She said, "He is saying that he was lucky to have you as his mum and you should rejoice that you both had so many years together."

I told her that my son wrote me a poem saying that when he flies away, I could see his face in flowers and drops of rain and he would be there by my side in my days of darkness.

She said, "Your son is right there with you now. He is standing by your side and you can ask anything you want from him"

I said, "Is he happy where he is."

"Yes he is." she said, "He is still doing his music and angels are teaching him things." she said.

"Can we do anything for him while we are on this side?" I asked.

"He is asking you to remember him in your prayers every day. He is asking you not to cry and that your other two sons need you and love you very much." she said.

She said, "Your son Raja was there with you when you "Died" during? your heart? operation because the veins taken out from your legs were not strong enough and they bust when the heart pumped blood. He helped you to come back for your two sons.

I cried so much that I forgot to ask anything else.

I felt warmth--I felt closeness as if I could hug him--I felt--I felt and I just felt. And I could only say--"I miss you son--"

She brought another box of tissues as first was emptied-- and I was trying to calm down.

After a while I asked, "Is my son gone?"

"No, he is still hear with all the other members. They are not rude to leave you like this. They will only go after you have gone" she said.

Did I want to leave him----?

"Good bye my son--I will always remember you in my prayers--every day-- and always."

And this is what I have been doing---and still am---and keep on doing until the day I die."

This clearly means that power of prayer reaches beyond this world.

About Me:

I have just retired at the age of 60 after working at the Senior management level for the local governments in Coventry/Warwickshire, Leicestershire and London. I have also had a heart by-pass operation in 1997 and still carried on working, partly to earn the living and partly to help the unfortunate ones as my job was to help sick, disabled and poverty-stricken to get benefits and services from the Local and National Governments.

I was born and brought up in Rani Pur, a village in Distt. Jallandhar in Punjab, India and graduated from the Punjab University Chandigarh. I came to the UK after marriage in 1967.

After my three sons went to school, I started college for various academic qualifications and training courses and I completed my Masters Degree in Computing just two years ago.

I am an Education Secretary for the local Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) to run and manage a Punjabi School for children and adults. I also manage various outings for children and Senior Citizens. I volunteer to help out others as much as I can.?

I have a hobby to write since my childhood days and most of my writings and poetry are in Punjabi Language. My sons want me to write in English, so that they can also read it.

I am writing a book in English, although feel that I could have done a better job in Punjabi.

Please accept me with my mistakes.

Hi Carol:

Here are a couple of stories for your contest. The first is quite short, while the second is significantly longer. They are both taken from my new book: "Glimpses 2" It Could Happen To You!?  I would appreciate it if you could make note of that when they are published in your newsletter, as well as where to get the book: http://www.sagabooks.net and my web site at: http://www.freewebs.com/paranormalbooks

I hope your readers enjoy them!

Michele Grew Up With Spirit Visitors

It is amazing just how many people live or have lived in a haunted home. Some people beliive that the spirits of those who once lived there have decided to stay for one reason or another. It could be anything from a spirit who died there, was killed, simply feels attached to the place or passed over and

doesn??™t realize he or she is dead.

? ? ? ?  Michele Stableford has lived in more than her share of haunted homes. As a child growing up in Hamilton, Ontario, she often saw the spirit of a man who lived in the attic of her home. She says he often visited her room, which initially frightened her as a child. But it would prove to be the first of many spirits to enter her life and something she would become quite accustomed to seeing.

? ? ? As a young mother, Michele had just put her children to bed and was finishing up some laundry in the basement. Fighting off tiredness, she also attempted to finish some other chores before she retired for the evening. From the kitchen, she suddenly spotted the basement door from the living room slowly opening. It opened completely and Michele was stunned.

? ? ? ?  ???I think my mouth dropped open and I went quiet for a moment,??? she said.

? ? ? ?  When she heard her mother asking what was wrong, she replied that she??™d just seen the door move on its own.

? ? ? ?  ???There was no way anyone was down there, since I was the only one on the main floor of the house and my kids were all upstairs in bed.

? ? ? ?  Gathering up her nerve, she moved toward the doorway with her dog in tow, but the animal wasn??™t having any part of it.

? ? ? ?  ???She got to the door and growled and ran behind a chair. I thought how grateful I was to have such a good watch dog,??? she added with a laugh.

? ? ? ?  Holding back tears, Michele looked through the doorway and saw nothing but blackness. Had it just been her imagination? She really wanted to know, so she asked the next-door neighbor to come and check things out. To her surprise, the basement door appeared to be locked when he tried to enter. He just could not get that door open and the strange thing was that the door had no lock!

The following weekend, Michele, her sister-in-law and a friend decided to hold a s?©ance to find out what was going on in her home.

? ? ? ?  ???We gathered around the kitchen table with candles going and the light from the sky just starting to fade, with our hands joined.???

? ? ? ?  Michele had dubbed her ghost ???Joe,??? so they began by asking him for some sign that he was present. They continued for about an hour, when the phone rang.

? ? ? ?  ???On the phone was a male asking for Joe! I was speechless.???

? ? ? ?  With that, they concluded their s?©ance and moved into the living room. In that room was an antique clock and as they talked about the evening??™s events, it began to chime. Thirteen times, the old clock chimed, but it was only Of course, that??™s not so strange, but the fact that the clock had no working parts sure was!

? ? ? ?  Today, Michele lives in a bungalow style home on Hamilton Mountain with her husband and five children. Late one evening, she found herself deeply buried in work at her computer in the living room when she heard her six-year-old daughter, Samantha, call to her. She turned to look down the hall toward her bedroom and saw her in her nightgown running into her room.???

? ? ? ?  Michele wondered where she??™d been, since she hadn??™t heard her get out of bed.

? ? ? ?  ???I quickly got up and made my way down the hall. I stopped at the door and looked in, only to find her snuggled up in her bed. I went over to her with expectations of her rolling over and smiling at me.???

? ? ? ?  But Samantha didn??™t move. Michele tucked her daughter in and she still didn??™t stir. She was fast asleep.

? ? ? ?  ???I took a step back when I noticed she was wearing a set of pink pajamas and not a night gown!???

? ? ? ?  The next day, Michele mentioned the incident to her husband. That??™s when little Samantha piped up.

? ? ? ?  ???She commented that the little girl was probably her twin, that I had miscarried during her pregnancy. My husband and I both looked at each other with our mouths open.???

? ? ? ?  They realized that their little girl was probably right!

? ? ? ?  This would not be Michele??™s only phantom visitor in her Hamilton home. And over the years, the now 42-year-old also learned that she has psychic abilities, as well as a spirit guide named White Feather. Her psychic abilities often drew spirits from beyond to her the night before she planned to give a reading to someone. She related what happened one evening before such a reading.

? ? ? ?  ???I had gone to bed and seemed to fall asleep quickly. I had done a few readings that day and felt quite drained of energy. My spirit guide had told me to rest, as the next day would prove to be stressful.???

? ? ? ?  That night she was awakened when her husband got out of bed.

? ? ? ?  ???I saw him walk out of the bedroom and into the hall. When he re-entered the room, he didn??™t go around to his side of the bed, but came to my side and was reaching for something off the dresser nearest to me. I saw him in this white haze that made him look very spooky. I tried to blink over and over to see him clearly, but I couldn??™t.???

? ? ? ?  Michele continued to stare at this hazy figure, when she felt her husband??™s side of the bed move, as if someone had just gotten into it.

? ? ? ?  ???My heart began to pound and as I turned to look, I saw my husband as if he had never left the bed. I quickly turned to see who it was that I had been watching on my side of the bed when, to my surprise, there was nothing there!???

? ? ? ?  In the morning, her husband couldn??™t find his brush, which he??™d left on the dresser. When he asked Michele if she had moved it, she related the events of the night before.

? ? ? ?  ???I told him it must have been the spirit I had watched during the night reaching in that direction.???

? ? ? ?  She also asked the ghostly figure to return the brush and after a few days, it mysteriously reappeared at the same spot from which it was taken.

? ? ? ?  Michele, who is now a professional psychic, clairvoyant, paranormal researcher, certified Usui Reiki Master and practicing Wiccan, said spirits have also awakened her many times by whispering in her ear. At first, she could only see a fuzzy, white light at the end of her bed, but now she sees a full spirit form.

? ? ? ?  ???They get a bit louder and usually stand at the end of my bed, as if waiting for me to say something. I have to tell them to come back when I am awake or when my client arrives, so they can be heard and give their messages. Most go away until morning, while some will stand there looking very antsy. I assure them they will be okay to wait and please go away.???

Haunted Pub

? ? ? ?  Michele, who calls herself Destiny Moon, has also taken part in a few haunting investigations in and around Hamilton. The most impressive was a trip to the Microbrewery Pub & Cask Aile House on

Augusta Street
, which was built in approximately 1843. The site used to house ship??™s captains and their families and then became a private residence in the ???70s. It later became a coffee house and in 1979, opened as the Winking Judge. The site was then closed for 18 months and reopened in 1998 as The Augusta??™s Winking Judge Microbrews Pub.

? ? ? ?  On her web site at http://www.magikcauldron.com Michele notes how, along with another psychic friend named Mary, she made her way up the front steps to the vine-covered building.

? ? ? ?  ???It wasn??™t hard to pick up the spirit energy right away, as we walked into the pub, because it was quite powerful to both of us.???

? ? ? ?  The pair began their investigation on the main floor. Michele pulled out her EMF meter to determine where the spirit energy was and began taking pictures. That??™s when she saw a spirit of a man sitting near the bar.

? ? ? ?  ???He was dressed in a dark-colored uniform/suit and wearing a hat, although he took no notice of us. He was the only spirit we detected on that floor.???

? ? ? ?  They then moved up the stairs to the second floor Judge??™s Chambers, which is now used as a darts and game room.

? ? ? ?  ???As I got closer to the top stair, I felt a little nudge against my shoulder making me slightly trip on the one stair. I laughed and said that someone was in a hurry to get up there before we did. Mary immediately picked up energy in the far left corner, with a cold breeze felt only in that area.???

? ? ? ?  They checked the windows and looked for vents, but no drafts could be found. As they continued to investigate, Michele thought she heard one of the owners come up the stairs, but no one was there.

? ? ? ?  ???It was then that we both felt and saw the vision of a young person (male, late teens) moving around us in the hall area. Mary saw a woman in a long dress, but she quickly disappeared. We said that we just wanted to look around and not to bother them.???

? ? ? ?  There next area of investigation was the attic. While there, Michele sensed a positive family energy and felt that children were running about. The pair thanked any resident spirits and headed toward the stairs. As they approached them, Mary said a small spirit passed by her very quickly and nearly made her fall. She felt it might be the spirit of an orange/tiger-colored cat that had been seen by others in the pub on many an occasion.

? ? ? ?  When they checked out the basement of the pub, all seemed in order. However, Michele said they picked up on the energies of two mail spirits and she heard one of them laugh as they looked around. After making their rounds, Michele and Mary sat for a while enjoying a cold drink and review what they had found.

? ? ? ?  ???Mary jumped up to get a closer look near the front door, where she saw the image of a man standing there. I took pictures right away, but he was quick to move out of the way. He may have been one of the gentlemen from the basement that we felt.???

? ? ? ?  The Hamilton mother is also a practicing Wiccan and on her web site, she notes that the craft is generally misunderstood.

? ? ? ?  ???Wicca is a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of thinking and (offers) a life which promotes oneness with the divine and all which exists.???

? ? ? ?  Originally known as ???The Craft of the Wise,??™ witchcraft in all its forms sprang from those who were in tune with the forces of nature, had a knowledge of herbs and medicines, gave council and were valuable members of their village or community as Shamanic, healing leaders.

? ? ? ? ?  On her site, Michele offers visitors a list of herbs and their healing power, such as Aloe for protection and luck, Coconut for purification, protection and chastity, Basil for love, exorcism, wealth, flying and protection, and nutmeg for luck, money, health and fidelity.

? ? ? ?  On her web site, she also discusses crystals, which can be used for such things as healing, divination, meditation and personal growth. These include such stones as Agate for protection and healing, Amazonite for clearer thinking, Amethyst for vivid dream and relieving depression and Chrysocolia to soothe nervous tension.

*Who celebrates Halloween?"

Norma Liles

We did, we did!!

As a youngster, I was always so excited when it came to celebrating

Halloween or as my special needs sister calls it, Hodoween. We never

gave it a thought that in some religious organizations that it was

considered evil or as a work of the devil. We looked forward to

'dressing up' in old clothes possibly borrowed from our parents,

brothers or sisters.

? To hide our faces, we wore what we called

at that time, false faces. Today, they are known as masks.

Nevertheless, we had a gay old time going from house to house

with our paper bags or our pillow cases hoping that we would

get a full sized candy bar not just a few pennies.

We used to

take empty spools that had held thread; cut knotches on the

ends, tie string around it which we knotted; allowing ample

string to hold in one hand and the spool in the other. When

we would hold the spool to a window and pull on our end of

the string, it would make a rickey tack toe sound. We

thought we had invented a fun machine.

We never did any

damage such as 'soaping windows' but we would gather at

a friend's house after the house calls to share our goodies and

where we would have a contest to see who was the ugliest,

the prettiest or the funniest. Those were the days of a wholesome

way of life with memories included. Not withstanding, we dined

on donuts and apple cider.?  (Care for some witches' brew?)
