A Lady, Name is Pat

Bill Walker

wildbill6807@yahoo.com

A lady name of Pat, never met her, but I hear about her from another lady. I think this Pat is a story. I know very little, but what I am told. I think what I am told is something all ladies should think about.?  You see Pat is a smart lady.

Every so often she sees her doctor, there is one thing that is checked. Now I am not going to say what is checked, I might say the wrong words. But this is a check for cancer, seems that is a thing that women is troubled with in this part of the body.

Pat is lucky, lucky she does this every so often.?  The cancer was found, and in the early stage, it can be taken care of by? small surgery? and with treatments should be cured.?  Therefore Pat is a story. If she hadn't had a check up every so often, the?  cancer would have got a good foot hold. So I guess Pat's story is ladies see your good doctor every so often, and get this checked before it is to late.

Now Pat also has faith, a up beat outlook on this.?  She may have talked to God about it, I think she would be a Christian lady, being how she runs with this lady that told me Pat's story. I hear they have a lunch date every week, one day. Do the girl talk, something like men do.?  I think the girls talk about men.?  Men talks about the girls some too.?  Anyways these two has a get together. Pat told she was going to have this done.

I do believe Pat talked to God about her problem. God answered?  the problem a long time back. He gave a doctor the schooling to care for such.?  I hear of people that says take your health problems to God, and he will cure the sickness.? ?  That may be, but he may have gave you the means of? treating the sickness by a good doctor, ever think about that??  The doctor I go to for my eyes, says it this way.? ? "I? am trained to do the work, do the best? I can, God does the cure.?  If it is in God's will your sight will improve." I am talking of surgery here.

I think Patricia has faith.. Faith in three things. God, and her doctor, also she has faith in herself.?  Without those three things, nothing will work.?  She is not down, because cancer was found. She is up beat, thank God we found it now, not when it had? both feet on the beach head.

A man many years ago said. "The only thing we have to fear, is fear its self." This lady had put her trust in God and the doctor God gave her. She has no fear of doing this operation. She could have missed?  her date to have lunch with the lady that told me about Pat. She could have been feeling sorry for herself. But? no these two had the weekly lunch date.?  My friend had a gift for Pat.

I understand Pat is going to take her gift to the hospital to read in her stay there. I think there is a story or two in the gift, about the Boys trips to see their doctor.?  Tink might be like Pat in this? case "OK I am here, lets get it on."

Good Luck Pat, May God Bless.? ?  I may have said the wrong word there. "Luck."?  Pat don't go with the luck.?  She puts her faith in God, and the doctor God gave her.

WHY ARE YOU SMILING?

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

? ? ? ?  "Why are you smiling?", my daughter asked me the other day. It was too complicated to answer her right away. I had been lost in thought. I had been thinking about my life and all the blessings that I had been given by God. I was thinking about the first time that I held my daughter in my arms. I was thinking about just recently giving her a driving lesson. I was thinking about all those joyous and priceless moments in between. I was thinking of my two sons who in spite of their handicaps and learning difficulties had taught me more about love, kindness, and bliss than I could ever have hoped to learn on my own. I was thinking about my family and friends and about all the joyful support they had given me over the years. They had helped me to grow into the person I am now.

? ? ? ?  I was thinking too about how wonderful it had been to grow up in these mountains of my home. Their natural beauty had touched my soul daily. I was thinking as well about how delightful it had been to have so many dogs and cats all through my life. Their love so freely given was a constant source of joy for me. I was thinking most of all, however, about how much God must love all of us to bless us with so many opportunities to choose love and share joy in this life. I was thinking about all of these things so naturally my face and soul were smiling.

? ? ? ?  Life is so wonderful. Life is so beautiful. Life is such a glorious gift from God. It is full to overflowing with people to love, wonders to enjoy, and good things to do. Even its most painful moments and most difficult times can lead us to greater growth, learning, love, and oneness with God if we let them. Be thankful for all the blessings God gives you in this life. Think of them often. Let them fill your heart, mind, and soul. And then when people ask you why you are smiling all the time, you will know what to say.

The Great Texas Shootout

Mark Crider

You wouldn't believe what I got into yesterday. I'm getting sooo slow on the draw, but I did make it up on the second draw getting the best of my adversary, a woman somewhat younger that me.

There is this drive in eatery near my office, been there
since I was a small child and I make it a point to eat
there at least once a week. Best tacos in the world, bar
none.

This woman and I were standing at the counter placing our orders when this barefoot little girl, maybe five years old, pushed between us putting, I think, seven cents on the counter, and asked for a coke.

Before I could get a breath or think, this woman said to her, "Oh sweetie, cokes are free for those that are shorter that the counter height today" as she tapped her finger on her order ticket signaling the cashier to put it on her ticket.

Now I may be slow, but I've got the big guns as I drew mine.

"Sweetie can you read? That sign there says hamburgers and fries are free too for that same reason, would you like one"? as I tapped my ticket to signal my shot.

You haven't seen a bigger smile and brighter twinkling eyes lately as that little girl sat eating and drinking her coke with the lady that owns the restaurant. When she finished the owner got her an ice cream cone.

She went skipping down the street barefooted towards the housing addition, I guess, where she lives.

She left a lot of smiles in the restaurant too when the smoke from the shootout cleared and you could see. And I didn't even know who it was I was shooting at, still don't.

~ Land of the Free ~

Joyce C. Lock

? ? ? ?  "God Bless
America" is a well-known phrase throughout the land.?  The Bible tells us how to receive His blessings.?  Yet, America is running in the opposite direction.

? ? ? ?  By their example, our forefathers taught how to make
America great.?  Our nation was founded "Under God" for the purpose of freedom in worship; a privilege that brings God's blessings every time.?  Our coins are a reminder of their heart, "In God We Trust"; where God always looks first.?  The Ten Commandments were their moral guideline; the system set up by God for a better way of life.?  Men believed so strongly that they fought and died for the cause of America and Pilgrims risked their lives to be a part of it.

? ? ? ?  Yet, today, we see a new breed of ???would be??™ forefathers who; vote their wallet instead of their conscience, dictate what we should believe to justify their lifestyle, look the other way rather than stand for Godly values, wear as many faces as it takes to reach prominent positions, and attend church to make further business contacts.

? ? ? ?  If our forefathers could see us now, they'd surely think they'd served and died in vain.?  The shame that has been brought upon
America is heard and seen in the news and is coming into our neighborhood and homes.

? ? ? ?  For every occasion we remain silent, indifferent, or divided (due to religious differences), we have nobody to blame but ourselves.?  It is a myth to expect God's continued blessings when our faith is a joke to Him.

? ? ? ?  Instead of asking God to Bless
America, perhaps we should be asking why He would.?  If we don't care enough to stand, then why should He??  Mt.12:25-30, I Sa. 12:16.

? ?  It makes no difference whether in our home, school, church, job, community, state, or country ... wherever God is excluded, Satan has free reign (I Ki. 18:18b).?  In our land of the free, we have set Satan free.
