Do You Wonder?

Bill Walker

wildbill6807@yahoo.com

Do you wonder why? Why things happen? Why some seems to live so good and well, while others has bad things to happen? Is it because some? is so good, while others is evil? Why some people has sickness, while others never seem to have a cold even?

We see pictures, we hear about all the storm damage, the lost of life, the stories of people, animals in bad need. Why is this? Is all these people, is all these animals evil in the sight of God? Where was God when all this taken place? Did he send all this onto these people, these animals for a reason? Just where was God? Was he taking a day off from his job of running this world? Did he leave some new guy on the job? Or was this a wake up call?

Was this because New Orleans is a so called Sin City. What with all the gambling places, the Party time. Was this the reason this happened? Then what about all the people that lived along the coast? Is all these people gamblers, Party time people? How can people judge?  people that just like it there? Most were born, grew up there, a lot are just good every day people.

Most anywhere in this land people can drive say a couple hundred miles, spend a day at the gambling tables. A lot of states now have gambling in stores, and other places. Called the lottery, put a buck on some numbers, spend the kids piggy bank on getting rich fast.

Years ago, I remember Sunday. I worked 6 days a week, Sunday was a day off.?  We lived at the little town of Lexington, Missouri.?  Every thing was closed, about the only thing open was the churches. We might get in the car, and drive the 40 miles to Kansas City. Every thing there for the most part was closed. Swope Park was open, and the Zoo. Could spend the day there, lots to see. Katz Drug Store was open,?  could spend a couple hours there, it was big.?  Get? a bite to eat. Could spend a couple bucks there. Could go see a ball game, baseball?  that is. Baseball played by some of the all time greats of baseball.? Ones who played the game and made great sums of money. Great sums of money. Maybe 3, or 4 thousand dollars a year, or in most cases a few dollars traveling money. One? was named Satch.? The?  greatest pitcher of all time. Ask Joe? DiMaggio, he said,? ? "the best and fastest pitcher I've ever faced". His pitching was amazing and his showboating was legendary. He was known to have walked 3 weak batters, load the bases, no outs. The heavy hitters was up.?  Satch stand there looked like it is a bad day for the home team. The Kansas City Monarch's is in trouble, going to lose this one. He might even throw 3 balls miss the plate by a mile each pitch. Then swish 3 right down the pike. The batter stood there, never seen a thing, The ump didn't either. Ump said I think the ball was? right? in there Mr.Batter, your out. ? The next two might get the same treatment. That was Satch Page, the greatest pitcher of all time, also the most under paid of all time.? These today couldn't carry any of those guys glove or bat. Those was the all time greats of baseball. Did it for a little grub money, worked a job some where, maybe shining shoes even.

That was Sundays then, have you looked at Sundays today, every thing is open, sin cities and all, all over the country. You can get any thing you want to spend your 40 hour week dollar on, on a Sunday. From a party girl to gambling to booze to name it. Is people in Omaha, or Kansas City,? better people then in New Orleans in God sight??

Martin Luther King jr.?  His wife asked when their bady died, "Where was God?"?  He said, "Same place he was when his Son Jesus died on the cross."?

We can't answer why things happen that is bad? to some, while others seem to just dance through life. Maybe we only think they are dancing though life. Maybe we should walk a mile in their shoes.?  Remember only a fool would blame God for what happened.?  I believe in his best selling book the BIBLE, it is told things will and does happen.?

One Good Turn ??“ Write Up About Roger Dean Kiser

This is Reality TV with a twist??¦no vicious infighting, no wacky competitions, no being voted off the island. Instead, One Good Turn is a half-hour, real-life series, set in the fifties?, that will bring a tear to your eye and a glow in your heart.

Because there??™s nothing more comforting than a feel-good story. Part parable??¦part fantasy??¦universally loved. That??™s the glowing-in-the-gut inspiration that has readers misty-eyed and glued to millions of Chicken Soup tales. In One Good Turn, this experience soars from the page to the small screen, telling the heart-warming story of how an eleven-year old orphan, named Roger Dean Kiser, enhanced dozens of lives. These same stirring stories have graced many pages in the best-selling Chicken Soup books. And persuaded award-winning actor Edward Asner to act as the series??™ executive producer.

ONE Orphan

Alone from birth, Roger continually ran away from the cruelty of his state orphanage to seek a better life. Astoundingly, he was able to surmount the nearly daily abuse and trauma, and embrace the world and people beyond. Although inevitably sent back to his institutional home, Roger changed the lives of many he met on the outside.

GOOD Stories

Like Gerald Winters, a thirty-something man whose fears for his disabled son, Seth, were suffocating the boy and crippling his family. Seth??™s condition worsened, Gerald lost his job, and his frustrated wife threatened to leave. Then one day, Gerald gave in and took his depressed youngster to a nearby park.

Roger, on one of his escapes, noticed the little boy alone in the sandbox. In a few moments, they were happily building sandcastles and trading jokes. Roger asked his new friend if he would like to fly. Seth shook his head. ???What I??™d really like to do is to walk and run, like all the other kids.??? Roger whispered into Seth??™s ear.

TURNing Lives Around

The little boy shimmied onto Roger??™s back. Before Gerald could object, Roger was racing in circles, with Seth flapping his arms as fast as he could, yelling, ???Watch me, Daddy. I??™m flying! I??™m flying!??? At first, Gerald tried to stop them, but after a few seconds, he stood still and watched. And learned of the joy and capability of his beautiful son. And started to let go.

This is just one of hundreds of poignant and triumphant tales in the remarkable story of Roger Dean Kiser. Like The Littlest Hobo before him, Roger slipped in and out of many lives, acting as a catalyst, helping people to discover their own humanity and enhance themselves through One Good Turn.

Hang On!

Joyce C. Lock

? ? ? ?  God is love and He dwells within you. When you truly love, it is God loving through you. Therefore, it is never wrong to love.

? ? ? ?  Love means you love enough to do whatever is in other's best interest, meeting the needs of their heart.Sometimes, that is easy and wonderful.Other times, it is very hard and painful. But, love never fails. It will always accomplish the purpose in which God gave it.

? ? ? ?  In any area of service wherein God calls you to love, yet doors are closed, it becomes a heartache and longing within. You may even learn to be content. However, your soul will never, otherwise, be complete. As it is God who lives within you, it is God who prompts your heart to love. And, He doesn??™t stop calling just because someone else disagrees, Ro. 11:29.

? ? ? ?  Additionally, if your heart condemns you not, you have confidence toward God.

? ? ? ?  But, if man condemns you for following God (Jb. 40:8, Ro. 10:3, Ph. 3:9-10), holding you spiritually captive, hang on.Joy comes in the morning, I Pe. .

Water's Edge
Christina Hymes

On the water's edge, I cast three stones.
Each skimming the cool surface,
rippling each course of destiny.
Ringlets dancing in rows.
The suns glare winking in delight.
A calm breeze caresses my face,
Lost in a breathless state.

DEW
Christina Hymes

As the dew latched on my feet,
A few tears fell down my cheeks,
And as the sun began to rise,
I told my bad dreams to fly.

As they escaped like ravens do,
The black mystical shapes diminishing in view,
sorrow left my heart, if only momentarily,
but long enough for me to switch my lens and take a shot.
