The Angel: Chapter One

Christina Hymes

It was a November day, cool and soft scented. You know the way it smells after a slight shower. It was drizzling now so I decided to take out the old watch that was passed down to me by my Grandfather and polish it. Polish it so it shined like the top of a silver teapot..)

I admired my hours of labor and slipped it into my pocket. The sun was out; I grabbed a book and headed for my favorite
Willow Tree in South Park
.

"Mom, I'm going to
South Park
, I'll be back in a couple of hours" I yelled as I headed out the door.

Something inside, a voice perhaps said,

"Beware...be careful..." and it was not mom.

The words dragged inside like a cannon stuck in a barrel. I had an eerie
feeling so I took precaution. As I arrived at
South Park
, I stood there wide mouthed and tacit. Fear came over me.

"Watch out, watch out, watch out" said someone or something.
Thinking out loud, I said, "Watch out for what?"

Then someone snuck up behind me grabbed me.

"Loser you'll die loser you'll die".

Terrified I ran until I couldn't catch my breath. A million thoughts ran through me.

"Why? Why would some one want to kill me? What have I done wrong?"

A raven perched on my shoulder and said,

"It's alright I'll protect you".

You are a bird! How can you help me????

He answered saying, "No worries Daniella, I will help, I promise I will."

Still shocked and trembling I said "I'm afraid to go home, afraid of other
people.???

He answered in an assured way saying "Please don't worry.... I will help,
you'll see."

Assured I move on home, down the dark alley.

"Danger is coming, pet me".

???Wondering why I say "Why? Why should I pet you?"

"Just do it, don't question me, do it quick.???

I hesitated no longer and quickly petted him.

"Oh my... Oh my goodness.???

There is a shimmer of light around him... a sort of blinding light.

"Too bright too bright" I say while closing my eyes from the distant light. When I open my eyes, he is handsome! Tall, about six feet, three inches with brown hair brown eyes and a good build.

He says, "Act like I am your boyfriend.???

I trust him and say "O.K".

As we walk further down the alley, he says,

"Just stay back if anything happens.???

Then out of nowhere the boy from earlier comes out yelling,

"Traitor! Traitor! Why did you leave me for that trash? I'm going to kill you Daniella ... I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

???It's Brad my ex!" I whisper to the bird, I mean boy.

He then comes over and introduces himself, "I'm Marco, Let me handle this."

While Marco handles the situation, my watch starts ticking. I look at it.

"Marco I should be home by now!"

He had wiped Brad out by now; he lay there like sick puppy unconscious.
? Marco turned to me and said, "Alright lets go".

We walk fast, terrified - worried hoping that Brad doesn't wake up, hoping no one had seen what had happened and hoping no one else would come next to attack me or grab me.

As Marco walked me to the door, he whispered, "I will always be with you ... always".

He kissed me. It was soft and intense, almost angelic. Then he pulls away,
slowly, and gently. So slow, it seems like a few minutes. Then we stop; we
look at each other with surprise and worry; both wondering what is next. We gaze in to each other's eyes. He is glows a dim yellow light, like an angel. We lean in and kiss again.

Then he whispers "I am with you, when you need help silently whisper Marco and I will be there.???

Amazed with what has happened I say, "Ok Marco... Thank you.???

We kiss again and he whispers, "Good-bye Daniella ... Good-bye.???

His voice drifts off and all the sudden my watch! It ticks! It ticks ten
times and I am awake.
