 Have You Seen Jesus, Today?

Joyce C. Lock

The Spirit of Bondage

 And they say ...

You act like you think you're God!

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken.  John
10:35

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.  Mark
1:22

Yea, and why should we believe you?

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.  Isaiah 53:2

If you would get things right, God would heal you.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  Isaiah 53:4

Well, that's your opinion.

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.  John 7:16

When your own church and family doesn't receive you, do you honestly think anyone else will?

And they were offended in him.  But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.  Matthew
13:57

So, why would God speak to you?

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.  John 3:34

And, just where is your proof?

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  Romans 8:14-17

The disciple is not above his master: but
every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Luke 6:40

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.  What shall we then say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us?  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?  It is God that justifieth.  Romans 8:29-33

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh.
For if they escaped not who refused him that
spake on earth, much more shall not we escape,
if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven.

Hebrews 12:25

He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me ...

John 13:20

Do You Know Who I Am?

Sharon Bryant

I saw her walking down the long strip of pavement that took you up to the stage area, if you were interested in going there.

I knew she was my age.  I remembered her singing my long ago favorite song.

No one told me she was going to be making an appearance that night.  But I was sure she was, otherwise what was SHE doing here?

She had on a cute outfit, a flowered skirt with a cute white blouse.  As she got closer to me, I noticed that cute glint she always had in her eyes whenever I saw her singing on television.

I watched as she passed by me and walked over to one of the amusement rides on the site.  The tilt-A-Whirl.

I saw her talk to the man who was operating the ride, shaking his head no.  I wondered what she was saying to him.  I saw her wave her hands back and forth and in the air, and I watched as the man pointed in my direction.

She began walking towards me.

"Excuse me, do you know who I am?" she asked.  "I laughed and said, "Yep."

"The man on that ride said you could get me on for free, is that true?"

"Hmmmm.....I'll make you a deal, how's that sound?" I said.

"What kind of deal?" she asked.

"That you sing a song for me when you get on the stage tonight."

"Sure, what song do you want me to sing?" she asked.

"Rock Around The Christmas Tree," I said, "Even though it's August."

"I'll do it." she said.

And that is how I got to meet Brenda Lee at the state fair that year.

And she kept her promise and sang the song.

Vision
Christina Hymes

I saw you across the busy street,
under the glow of city lights,
neon green shown in your eyes,
electrifying my soul.

I lost my train of thoughts.
Sweat dripped from my forehead
down into the palm of my hands;
I shook it off.

Your brown hair fell soft on your shoulders,
stood there waiting for a cab,
I crossed the street leaving my troubles
behind and joined you.

I felt your warmth radiating underneath
your wool coat, and the warmth of your hand in mine.
Ten years ago we started at this very same spot;
I still love you.

As quiet as the dew
Christina Hymes

As quiet as the dew,
She went when the sun rose;
And flew into the sky.

No longer cold, and wet with tears,
Her petals wilted when the heat came,
And dew no longer felt her lashes, and
Salt no longer clumped in the corners.

In the sky
Whereupon white lilies play,
And sugar puffs drizzle down below.
Rainbows jumped like dolphins to and fro;
Her face no longer cold, cheeks not white with fear.
Hands now warm with love, in the arms of another man.

Writers Feedback

I am still wiping my tears after reading the story by Jaye Lewis, Welcome Home.  What a wonderful, well written story of sacrifice and knowing the grace of God.  Blessings, Sharlett Hunt

My name is Linda Bowling.  I am Marge Cline's daughter.  She forwards the
story time tapestry to me.  She thought I would be especially interested in
the last one.  I, too, am a poet and have submitted a couple of poems to
poetry.com.  I have also been a member of "The Poets' Workshop," for nearly
a year.  I have submitted several poems to them.  I can't say it has been
smooth sailing with them.   Being locked out of my site for several months
was just the beginning of a long bad experience with them.  And I can't see
much difference between Poetry.com and The Poets' Workshop.  They both offer
the same chance to be published (for a price) in their anthology.  And all
the hype about the big cash awards and prizes that can be had is very
tempting.  I just can't help but think that everyone who submits a poem to
them becomes one of the greatest poets they've ever read.  If it is all
legit and on the up and up I would be surprised.  However, I do submit my
poetry to them for the reviews from the other poets on that site.  I don't
intend to let them discourage me from looking for the "right" place to share
my poetry.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this situation with others.  I bet
we're not the only ones who have had this experience.

Take Care,

Linda Bowling

When I first started writing poetry I made the mistake of hooking up with poetry.com, one of the biggest scams going on the Internet.  They used several of my poems and I never bought a book or attended their conventions but, dummy I was, I continued to give them my poems to use in their books.  A friend of mine sent me many comments telling of their deceit.  They use your poems to make money.  Simple as that.  As I go along, I am learning a lot about this writing business.  There are crooks out there. It is sad but it does happen, a lot, I am finding out.  I just had a book published with Publish America.  There are pros and cons out there but if your dream is to be a legitimate author, they are not the one you want.  They deny being a vanity press yet all signs point in that direction.  They will publish anything to make money from the list of friends you give them before the book is in print.  Then you supposedly get 8% but some say they got nothing.  I can't join The Writer's Guild or any of the writer's organizations because they don't consider PA a legitimate publisher, from what I am told.  They recently got nasty with me in an email because I wanted them to change and add on to my book as they had made mistakes that were not caught before it was printed.  Some authors are suing.  I am considering this.

The thing is, always research these companies before you let the stars in your eyes block your common sense.  They can certainly stomp on a dream.  God bless, Sharlett F. Hunt

God bless my friends and I hope they somehow know how much I enjoy their shared talents...hugs Sharlett and thanks for your kind words and encouragement and also Carol.   Leona

I am tickled pink for Leona!  What a writer and such an inspiration to others!  She is living proof that you can do anything in life if you really want to.  It was a long time coming but congratulations on the book!  I hope she does have many more and somehow, I think she will.

                                                                                    God bless, Sharlett
