Norma Liles ? As a child, I was
very close to my family being raised in a christian atmosphere where marriage and
family and morals was a high priority. My parents were excellent role
models which I respect more and more as I get older. At the time that I
speak we, eleven us to be exact including my parents, lived in a small village
which afforded us many tools for my parents to support our needs and whatever
comforts they could afford. Times were tough but we didn't know it as my Dad always
raised a big garden & Mother preserved the bounty as well as the fresh produce
which is bountiful in our area during the peak growing season of not ever remember
being hungry or cold. As I grew a little
older, we moved closer to the city. I found life to be so different than what I had
been used to. I met a girl next door to our new home. After we got better
acquainted, she informed me that her Mom had a new boyfriend. I was shocked
because I just assumed that her Mom was a married lady. She informed me that
her parents had gotten a divorce and that
she rarely saw her Dad. That was a new awakening to me as I had never heard
the word used before much less knowing someone that was a part of such a
thing. As the years
passed, I grew into a young lady and I fell in love with the man that was to be my new
husband. As you know, love is blind and in my immaturity, I did not take the
time to see the forest for the trees. There were tale tell signs as I look back but I
ignored them thinking that tomorrow would be a better day. In time, we had a
darling little girl but as sweet as she was, she became a party to a dysfunctional
home. I regret my haste now as this did not lead to a very happy life for her so I
found it necessary to follow the path of my friend's Mother, to get a divorce.
There was not another man in the picture for me but my soon to be
ex-husband had a love that I could not surmount, the bottle. Yet today, he still
holds a special place in my heart; a man who was physically abused as a child who did
not deal well with his upbringing. In later years, I
became friends with a young neighbor girl who attended my church, too. She became
very upset with the pastor when he preached on not being unequally yoked together. I
assured her that he was right in his theory as our Bible tells us: "Do not be unequally
yoked together" This is where I had crossed the line as when I married, I was a christian
but my new husband was not. It was my prayer that this young lady take heed to the
pastor's message which came from our Lord's Word. "Be ye not
unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians ?© NormaLee Liles NormaLee Liles ?© hoopla214@yahoo.com Norma Liles is a retired data entry clerk/supv who is 76, a native of and still resides there. HEAVEN By: Joseph
J. Mazzella ? ? ? ?
The leaves are at their peak here in the mountains of my home. That means that
every single tree is a gift from Heaven. The forested mountains are awash in
wondrous colors shimmering in the sunshine. I took a long walk this evening
just to take in their beauty. There were trees full of flaming red leaves. The
were trees full of glowing orange ones. Some trees were shining in beautiful
gold and bright yellow. Some trees were overflowing in rich burgundy and warm
crimson. Even while some wild flowers were still blooming in the ground it
seemed that every single leaf had become a flower as well. I had never seen the
world more beautiful and I remember thinking that this must be a glimpse of
what Heaven must look like all the time. I walked back home thanking God over
and over for the glorious beauty of Autumn??™s leaves. ? ? ? ?
Even at their peak, however, Autumn leaves still have nothing on us. I have
seen human souls so full of the color of love that they light up the lives of
everyone they meet. I have seen human souls so full of the color of joy that
they bring the beauty of an Autumn forest to every single day of their lives. I
have seen human souls so full of oneness with God that they brighten the world
around them with the colors of Heaven. ? ? ? ?
The great thing too is that each one of us can live as these souls do. Each one
of us can be full of love, joy, and oneness with God every single days of our
lives. Each one of us can be like a glorious Autumn that never ends and forever
share our true colors with everyone everywhere. Each one of us can make this
world a better, brighter, and more beautiful place just by being in it. The
Choice is ours to make. I hope that you choose wisely then and make your own
life one that is full of the colors of Heaven. Joseph J. Mazzella

was completely unnecessary.? According to the doctor, it's very common
after chemo for the blood count to jump higher than usual and it's too soon to
think the leukemia isn't in remission.? Are you all ready for
this??????? Nikki just got off the phone with me crying her eyes out...
she said,? "Mom,? I get to come home at the end of the week for
a two week break before I have to go through the chemo again!"? ?
She was crying so hard I could barily understand her, but she gets the break
they were hoping for.? David and Sierra was with her and I could hear David
crying in the background too.? God has worked a miracle to have carried
that child this far, and I'm praying her next steps will go better than this
one did.? She will have the next chemo in about three weeks and the
transplant to take place after that.? She was saying when she got home
that she wanted David sleeping on one side of her and Sierra on the other
side... She wanted to be enclosed by their bodies during the time of this
break.? David's boss, who has been so kind and understanding throughout this
whole ordeal is giving him the two days off work to stay home with
her.? ? After that, Nikki will be spending time with her family and
our family until she has to go back.? God bless everyone of you with so
much love, Al ? ? SENIOR WRITERS Chief Writer: Sharon Bryant ? ? Agee,
