? Dream Symbols - Mouth, Lips, Tongue
Parthena Black
?
Words can harm as
well as heal. They can be pure and honest and can be cleverly manipulated to
disguise the truth. It's been said that the tongue is the strongest muscle in
the body because it has the power to break a heart.
Our mouths, lips and tongues are the vehicles through which our emotions and
thoughts find expression. Physically, we use these organs to convey affection
as well as to inflict pain and pleasure. ?
Dreams where the mouth, lips or tongue is the central symbol might symbolize a
need to express yourself or regret about something you've recently said. You
may have recently been on the receiving end of harsh words that you may have
taken to heart.
Dreaming of a deformed mouth or kissing someone with bad breath may symbolize
lies, foul words or a toxic person. Have you been unkind or less than honest?
Do you suspect that someone has been lying to you?
Perhaps a part of your personality needs to find an outlet for expression.
Since the lips and tongue play a part in sexual interaction, your dream may
reflect your feelings about this aspect of your life, especially if the dream
involved oral sex. Of course, Sigmund
Freud saw
the mouth in dreams as a symbol of the female vagina. He also felt that this
symbol could represent unresolved childhood issues that have manifested in
immature behaviors such as biting and verbal aggression.
Is something going in or coming out of your mouth? Taking in a pleasurable
substance symbolizes physical, spiritual or emotional nourishment. An
unpleasant substance in your mouth or vomiting symbolizes something that you
reject or want to get rid of.
If your dream involved words, could you hear them? What were they? Remember
that the unconscious is quite fond of giving us word games and puzzles to
solve! If you can't readily determine a meaning, be sure to jot them down in
your Dream Journal
for future reference when waking life gives you the clues you need.
The spoken word also has the power to create our experience. For instance, I
realized that I was repeatedly saying that I was sick of dealing with a certain
situation. Every time that situation came up, I felt sick!
So, be conscious of the words you speak and focus on words of self-love and
positive intention for the coming year. May all your dreams come true!
