TAPESTRY The Newsletter
devoted to spreading love and cultural awareness throughout the world ? ? Today??™s Announcements: ? Today we welcome Paula Booher, as writer # 287, for Storytime Tapestry.? Paula has much of her poetry already distributed on poetry.com and she is simply thrilled to join our team of poets and writers.? Please email her and let her know what you think of her poetry.? She is a doll. Now on to the good stuff.......... ? Today's Queue Stories ? THE AMAZING BIG TIME LAWYER (November 2005) BY: Georgewaters Ojeigbe ??“ gojiegbe@jhplc.com ? About six years ago, around 1996 to 1997, I worked in legal
chambers, a well-known law firm in Nigeria, especially to those who witnessed
the twelve-two-third era; a term used to describe my principal partner. ? I
was his personal assistant.? He is well read and respected in my country
as he was once the Chief Justice (???CJ???) of the Federation in the defunct
National Party of Nigeria (???NPN???) government of the late 70s/early 80s.?
He named his law chambers A??¦ & Co, Solicitors and Advocates but I named it
the Lions??™ Den.? ? Before absorption into this firm, I had never heard much of him
or seen him before.? The few words I had heard about him were from my dad
who also was in politics but in a different party called the Unity Party of
Nigeria (???UPN???) and this was when I was about 9 to 10 years old, as
dad-in-quote used to discuss with friends the CJ??™s misconducts.? ? In the days of working for the ex-CJ, sometimes in the office, I
remember those words of my dad about the ex-CJ and I brush them aside saying to
myself ???what a world we live in???.? Supposed dad was told in the past that
I shall one-day work for the CJ, I think he would have disbelieved it.? ? ? I am yet to find anyone that had worked in the chambers who
hadn??™t complained about the ex-CJ and his daughter??™s brutality.? She being
the managing partner worsened the environment by her constant bullying of
staff.? A rigid lady fond of harassing people??™s lives, putting terror in
the staff??™s daily existence.? Life was like hell in the chambers!?
This is just the truth, but to me, I found them amusing instead of being
solemn.? They became my amusement park as it used to amaze me each time I
see old people like him screaming, nagging, and hitting the desk out of
anger.? Like sometimes He would say, ???I will fling you out of the
window???.? For God??™s sake himself is not able to walk properly due to old
age talk less of him flinging even a dead rat out of the window.? So you can
see why I say they amuse me a lot.? His daughter was always abusive and
jumping like a Karatian in a Kong Fu fight whenever that nut misses a place
somewhere up there.? Sometimes he looks comical in attitude and words,
although the daughter is a beautiful lady but sometimes also look
comical.? I just couldn??™t really understand if it was due to something up
in the brain or what but they were just like that. ? He always proves himself pure and brave until one of those days
when a friend of his who they had both served in the defunct government came
from a far state in the south-south of ? Immediately, the visitor sighted his glasses he bent to pick it
from the table when my boss shouted, ???no, no, that is not your glasses they are
mine???!? My boss immediately grabbed the case and pocketed it.? His
friend knew quite well that the glasses belongs to himself but had no further
comment than to plead us to forward back to him the pair glasses when
found.? Few hours after the visitor had left; my boss got into his usual
law research and needed his own eyeglasses.? He put his hand in his pocket
of his native attire, brought out the case, opened it and took out the pair of
glasses.? He put it on his face.? Next, he screamed ???oh dear me,
these are not my glasses.? G-E-O-R-G-E where are my glasses????? All
these while, I have been watching the scene from my desk next to his as we were
both sharing the same room before I was relocated to his office entrance on the
corridor.? Well, I cannot describe the scenario to you through writing, it
was so funny.? His facial expression was very funny, knowing that he had
done what he would have accused others on.? ? He somewhat has a forgetful memory due to age but he never
accepted the fact.? Instead, he will pass the blame on someone else in the
person of George.? Well, he is fond of that and I hardly agued with him
whenever such arose in the office.? I always had to accept since he was my
boss, a superior BOSS, a lawyer who was arguing a case in the Hughes on behalf
of his country??¦ ? It was fun and a great experience to have worked for such a person.?
I enriched with experiences that couldn??™t have been bought in the market
place.? I got to understand some things from him and was straightened
harder in the secretarial field.? A real principled and intelligent man
otherwise his bullying attitude was on the high side.? He is still
practicing up till this very moment. ? THE END! Georgewaters Ojeigbe gojiegbe @jhplc.com BIO-DATA I was born on ? ~**~**~? ? Poetry Section ~**~**~ Here are two poems
written for me in regards to my sister??™s death.?
I cherish them greatly.? Norma
Liles, provides the first one and a very new writer, Paula Booher, provides the
second one.? Norma is my internet
surrogate mother as you may well know and Paula and I have become good friends,
almost over night, it is magic.? Paula
believes that it was destiny; we were meant to be drawn together, and I agree
with her. Message from God
hoopla214@yahoo.com Norma Liles is a
retired data entry clerk/supv who is 76, a
native of and still resides
there. She is very outgoing and loves to
make new friends! Her hobbies are: writing poetry and stories, living for
Jesus, reading, her computer.Her
ambition is to add pleasure to those who
read her writings as well as sharing her
faith. She enjoys Southern Gospel Music
and loves to sing. a senior writer for Storytime Tapestry. ? ~**~**~ Her Precious Smile Paula Booher ? Sweet Jesus has collected another precious
one to His side No? more will she suffer these worlds??™
woes, As we are left to continue on here without
her precious smile It's us who must onward forward? march
in rows. One by one we will one day enter that gate If we too have made the Right decision
to? choose Him, Our prayers are with the ones left behind to
wait I pray your chances are not made in vain or
slim. It is said our journey here is short and
temporary Yet it's still quite an extraordinary
adventure to walk it out, Some will walk it in peace and quiet and
uneventful While others will leave it with a shout! There are others still whose lives are
filled with much pain It's as if there walk is an uphill struggle
all the way, We might wonder if? it was worth being
born at all you'd say Yet only God knows the mysteries of each
day. We choose our path? by our own free will Though predestined to 'be' we choose it
still, I believe there are two? potential
outcomes? to fulfill In each life that leads up that hill. Christ laid the groundwork an example to
follow And this is all I can say, As long as I breathe and have life in this
body Each moment He teaches me new ways to Pray. ? In Jesus Name Amen I will never leave you
nor forsake you says the Lord. ? Our prayers are with you Carol. ? The Booher family. ? love, Paula ? wrappednword@yahoo.com ? ~**~**~ ? Writers Feedback That was sad George!? I can not imagine the pain of the little girl.? But I know about fires.? My house burned down and I lost my dog in the fire in 1963. Prayer Requests and Updates ? Dear Carol, ? I am so sorry to hear of your sister's passing.? ? What a
shock that had to be for all of you.? ? I am sure you will miss her
dearly.? Please know that you and your family are in my prayers in your
time of sorrow. ? May your grief? be? consoled by the memories of
your sister, and comforted by the arms of God's love and grace.? ? ? ? Thinking of you, ? Ginger Boda ? ? Carol, I am so sorry.? :-( I am glad? she is at peace, at last. My prayers are with you and your family. ? Love & Hugs to you,
I'm
so sorry for your lost. I hope you fine peace and understanding by celebrating
your sister's life.My prayers are with you.Suzanne Gabriel My
Dear Mrs. Roach, ? ? ? ? ?
I am so sorry to hear about your tragic loss. I know this sounds cliched, but
your sister is now in a much better place than we are.? I don't wish cancer
on my worst enemy. My mother went through a similar ordeal with esophageal
cancer that later metastasized into lung cancer. We went through every
emotional rollercoaster imaginable. She was in remission? for 18
months? when her doctors determined she had six months left to live. Her
battle lasted about 3 1/2 years. ? ? ? ? ?
It is so ironic how your sister? died. I guess it goes to show that doctors
don't always have all of the answers and sometimes they encounter unexpected
situations. It has been my experience? when most? people are
making? positive progress toward recovery, something adverse happens and
they? don't survive.? ? ? ? ? ? ?
God bless you and keep you and your family in His loving grasp now and always.
Please know you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. ? ? ? ? ?
Lynne Stevenson Oh, Carol--- I am so sorry about your sister.. I know this is a hard time for you and your family.. I am thinking of you.. Tobius... I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, but it seems that this was a long painful journey for both your sister and your family.? Please know that you'll be in my prayers tonight. Good luck and God bless. Greg ? God bless you and your family,
Nat Carol, may the Lord be with you and comfort you at this difficult time. Janet Hi Carol, So very sorry to hear about your sister.? Please know
that my thoughts and prayers are for you and your family.? How old was
your sister? I am so very sorry for your loss. Love and great big hugs, Kath ? SENIOR WRITERS Chief Writer: Sharon Bryant ? ? Agee,
