The Greatest Story

Bill Walker

wildbill6807@yahoo.com

The greatest story ever told or written.?  Some says? the Christmas story is the? Greatest Story, while others say Easter.? ?  What is one with out the other??  I think both together are the Greatest Story ever told, or written.

If you go back and look at the times, the place, the thinking of the people? of the times, and even of the present day Jewish people who never accepted Jesus.?  Things were in a mess then just like today.?  Nothing really changes. Just the actors in the play.

You see the people were asking once again for the leader to waltz them out of the mess.?  They were looking to the sky for the man with the sharp sword in hand, and also a sharp tongue of a sword to take care of the problems.

Instead they got this guy walking about teaching of things like peace, good will, and talking about the Kingdom of Heaven.?  Just who needs him and his peace, good will, and right now we are worried about the Kingdom here on earth.?  Things in one big mess.

Now this fellow,? he seems? to have a small group following him about.?  He never seems to have much in way of world goods.?  Just enough to make it maybe through the day.?  Sometime the group stands? on the street corner and talks.?  Some times they find a house to have a get together.?  I would think maybe they are preaching the over throw of the government.? ?  Maybe we should call up the CIA, The FBI, and the Homeland Security Gang of the day. Might find some Liberals in the robes. They do talk about feeding the poor, and giving a cup of water to the needy.

I have never figured out this Greatest Story ever told.? ?  That is you have to have Christmas to give you Easter.?  So what is one with out the other?

I think the Greatest Story has to be Christmas, and Easter, and all the Bible tells you that happened between those two dates.

The Bible tells of a humble birth.? ? ?  The power hungry was looking for a step right out of the Sky King to come in and take them to? a new high.?  The devil with this man of poor birth in the back alley of some Inn in some small burg.?

The Bible many a place, tells us of this man and his travels about. Just a walk from one place to another.?  Kind of like that old song.?  Just a walk with Jesus. Then just like today.?  People wasn't going on no walk, they was looking for a ride.

The Bible tells us of his talks with people of about all kinds and classes.?  I noticed he talked to every one.?  Rich, poor, in betweens.? ?  A few Saints,? lots of sinners.?  Saints got mad and walked away or in most cases road away in the Caddy of the day. Those told how pure they were, and just who is this poor bum on the street corner any ways?

The thing is the Bible told many places about this man coming, how he would come and what was going to happen.?  It is there in black and white. In PLAIN SPEAKING. One doesn??™t need the latest washed out rewrite of a rewrite King James to understand.

The problem then just as it is today.?  People don't read.?  I have said it many times. Better look out Mr. and Mrs.,? and Miss Saint.?  And this goes for preachers of all types.?  You never know.?  That poor person standing on the corner, was that Jesus you just passed by with out a second look?

Now I know? I jumped off of the path...?  The thing is the jump off is what Christmas and Easter is about.? ?  Jesus came here as very humble, died a sorry death.?  He rose and is alive today.?  He talked, do un to others as you would have them do unto you.?  All this is what Christmas and Easter is about.? He came, walked and talked, and died on the cross? for you and me.?  He is no longer on the cross, nor in the grave,? did the Bible also fore tell that before he came.?  Remember one thing.?  God so loved the world, he sent his SON to save your soul...?  I think the word is,? HE SO LOVED YOU? AND ME,? BROTHER AND SISTER.?

Mr. Fix-It

Sharon Bryant?

Once upon a time.........

I used to date a guy who was a cabinet maker.?  When I went to his shop, the smell of sawdust was overwhelming.?  Yet I saw some beautiful pieces of wood.?  Had I been into wood crafts then as I am today, I may have borrowed some of that gorgeous wood.

I then dated a truck driver.?  Now there's a profession that's interesting if they do over the road hauling.?  I just didn't have the heart to tell him I grew up in tractors when my dad drove truck.?  So when I rode with him, I acted excited when he pointed out a huge hawk nest in a tree on I-94 going into Chicago.?  Come on, a HAWK'S nest??  Give me a break.?  Of course, I didn't date that guy very long.

With my luck, a date would have been sitting on the side of the road counting how many hawks flew by.

Today I'm married to a fix-it man.?  He's a welder/electrician.?  He's also been in the food business like I have for years, so we combined our knowledge of what we both knew and it works.?  I cook and I clean the dishes.?  He sits in front of the TV and works the remote evenings.?  I break a plate, I yell, "Help, I need you Mr. Fix-it man."?  Here he comes with that handy little kit of his.

Yesterday? was the ultimate fix-it.

We have one of those coffee pots that has the timer on it. ?  I am always up when the coffee is perking.?  It sort of gives me a lift to sit and watch the news on television, smell the aroma of hot coffee perking and pour myself a cup with my Coffeemate Irish Cream.

I woke before hubby.?  I got my cup out of the cupboard, sprinkled my Cream into the cup, then lifted the coffee pot.?  I heard the little snap.?  I was in the process of pouring the coffee when I heard the noise and instantly saw my coffee pot begin to lean towards the counter.?  I grabbed a potholder to catch the pot before I had it all over myself, the counter and floor.

I then saw that the little black plastic piece that hooks the handle to the glass had snapped off.?  And with a coffee pot that is 13 years old, I knew to find a pot to match it would be about impossible.?  Hubby walked into the kitchen as he saw me pouring my coffee holding the hot pot with a potholder.?  He asked what happened and I told him the pot handle? broke.

"I can fix that." he said.?

Good old JB WELD, a little package he keeps handy in the house for those small jobs.?  I told him I thought that was for metal and he said no, it holds glass, plastic, many other things.?  He should know, he fixed his dentures with JB Weld two weeks ago and they're still holding!

He gets out his little kit, mixes his two "welding"? tubes,? and tells me it has to sit overnight.?  I said fine.?  Meanwhile I went on the computer trying to find a replacement pot for the model number of West Bend Coffee makers.?  Naturally, our coffee pot is no longer made.?  Sigh......

This morning the coffee was perking.?  He had put the coffee pot in place on the coffee maker? before he went to bed last night.?  The pot was almost full when I got up.?  I picked up the pot, turned it downward to pour into my cup, and SNAP, there went that piece of plastic again.?  It irritated me that I would have to buy a new coffee maker when ours works just fine, just because the pot is outdated.

That's another thing.?  I hate buying appliances.?  I mean, when I buy something, I want my money's worth.? ?  Coffee makers SHOULD give us at least? 15-20 years of service.?  After all, grandma had that old dryer for over 40 years and it was still working when she gave it to me.?  Of course that was a Maytag, the best there was in those days.

Today I wished Maytag made coffee makers.

So.....back to this morning.

Welders and electricians carry all kinds of gadgets.?  Chalk line, tool kits, rolls of welding rod, and heavy duty string.?  Of course the string was mine from ages ago when I was flying kites for the kids. ?  After I got one of the kid's kites stuck in that old tree house by the neighbor's that one year, I bought heavy duty twine after that.?  Hubby put it into his tool box long ago.

Today was the first time I'd seen it in years.?  Amazing how many years twine will last, isn't it?

Mr. Fix-it took that twine, tied it under the lip of the coffee pot, wrapped it around the rim of the pot, and tied it to the handle.?  It's really taunt.?  It worked!

The only thing I have to figure out now is when someone comes over and sees the coffee pot with a string around the whole top of it and asks me what the string is for....I think I'll say, "Gee, at my age, some of us get forgetful and? I have that string there to remind me to have my coffee every morning."

Fruit Inspection

? Joyce C. Lock

If we believe we are called to be Fruit Inspectors, then might we also have been watching for imperfection in? Jesus, in His day, too?

By? human observation, Jesus did not pass the test.?  Among other things, they said He was gluttonous and a winebibber;? being that he befriended both publicans and sinners.?  Luke 7:34?  No doubt, others have looked to find flaws in your ministry, too.

Maybe you were slain by someone offended by your poundage, who'd forgotten that bodily exercise only profits a little.

Perhaps? the determination of your? faithfulness is based upon 100% church attendance, when you work third shift and can't keep your eyes open through every meeting.

They thought? God had caused Jesus' affliction due to his own sin, without ever having? considered that people? might actually? be suffering? as? a result of the? sins of others.?  Isaiah 53:4-5

Apparently, if we look to see error, we will find it; real or imagined.?  That being the case, why don't we give others a break and get off? their backs?

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Matthew 7:20

It isn't by our inspection that we shall know them.

It is by their fruit that we shall "know" them.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.?  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.?  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.?  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:22-26

The Cost Of War

Tim Kevin
-
T'will only cost 50 billion to find WMD's
And send a few thousand boys overseas
It was all over they celebrated and said
Of course that was long before 2000 dead
-
And now, seems they changed the story
Our people sacrificed in doubtful glory
To bring democracy to this feudal land
But nothin' said about oil below the sand
-
How long will our troops be forced to stay
Chained to the insanity of this winless fray
Someone is paying the terrible cost I fear
Alone and silently, with a mother's tear

The Mystical Journey

Eileen Wood

The mystery of life waits

For our souls to find their way

Upon the moon and stars

We seek to lift the veil

To see beyond our visions

And know what our future holds

The mystery of life waits

The journey must begin

We see the truth

The eagle flies

Freedom

The mystical journey

Is ours to know

To become

One

Our beliefs and knowledge

Leads us on the path

To where we must go

The journey

Mystical, magical

Connecting with our soul

To know who we are

Through our eyes

We see deep

Searching, Finding

Knowing

The mystical journey

Begins now

Readers Feedback

What suspense...I am traveling right along with NormieLee.?  I am anxiously awaiting part two.?  God bless for sharing as always Leona

As always awesome and wonderful writings shared Dear Carol Roach our WinteRose? ?  hugs to you from the 'Ole Lady who is still "Dancing With Life" and waiting for another miracle healing, as she also appreciates and thanks all for their prayers for her and her son Walter and her hubby of soon to be 51 years Charles (Charlie).Leona

Dear Carol,

Thank you so much for publishing my story? "Innocence Lost" as a special treat on March 10th.

I hope what happened to me never happens to anyone, but if it does I would want my? story? to enable? that person? to know where they can go for help and for them to know they are not alone in their ordeal. Hence the reason I provided resources at the end. If only I had sort help sooner, I would not have had to suffer needlessly for over 10 years! ? That is? another reason I wrote of my rape; so that if this does happen to someone, they will know to seek therapy as soon as it happens...

Again, thank you, thank you so much for publishing the true-account of what happened to me all those years ago!

Sincerely,
