Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural
awareness throughout the world. Special Treat – Saskia Nienna Streidel Our Little German writer Saskia is
getting married and she is delirious. I
have never known her to be happier. She
is so happy that she has written a book, love poems and stories for her
American finance, David, and she wanted to share her joy with her Storytime
Tapestry Family by writing a three part column.
Here is the first in the series. May I introduce myself? Sassia Nienna Streidel May I introduce myself? I am a woman in love. Probably you do not see this as something
special, but it is. Everybody who is in love creates something special.
Everybody who has love growing in the heart gives the world dreams and hopes
and the taste of a better future for all of us. And for me it still seems a bit - hm, let’s
say unusual – to use those words: “I am in love!” I remember a summer afternoon a few years ago.
A friend and I were walking through the city when a young couple passed us by.
They were walking arm in arm and seemed to be very happy and lucky. But still
the guy turned his head to look first at me friends legs and then at my
breasts. I laughed, my friend blushed. The couple kept on walking, still
holding each other. One more time the
guy turned around, just in time to catch my laughter. Then he looked at his
girl who smiled at him. I remember the way my friend asked me this
stupid question which would become the start of a long discussion between us. “Who would you rather be? The girl in his arms
or the girl he stars at in the city?” I knew my friend would love to be the girl in
his arms. And we both knew I would not. Now, a few years later, my friend is still a
single. Her heart got broken at least three times since then. She did not have
much fun as far as I know and she feels lonely. I had quite a bit fun in the
last few years, I never felt lonely and I fell in love. I moved into a new
house with the man I love and I will get married soon. I have no regrets and I
can still look back with a smile in my face. I do not think that I missed
anything in my life and I am looking forward to spend the rest of my life
together with the man I love. Who would I want to be? The woman in his arms
or the woman he stars at? Both! But the difference is that I am the woman in
his arms. And of course I want to be in his arms, because it is HIM, the man I
have chosen. He has my love. The other guy in the city was just a guy, a
stranger, a face that passes by. I enjoyed it that he start at me for a few
seconds, because that was like a fresh-baked cookie for my self-esteem. But
then I just kept on walking without thinking about him anymore. My friend did
not. She saw in almost every man her “could-be-my-love” dream. I think that
this is why she is so lonely now. I cannot remember how the guy in the city
looked like and I do not care, because today I am in the arms of my lover’s
arms and I am A woman in love. Saskia Steidel
