The symphony of love

Saskia Nienna Steidel

I just read a story about an unhappy young woman who tries to find her place in life and a love of her love to give her happiness and safety. This young woman is very confused about life and about herself. She has nobody to claim to. Her father is far away, living with his new young lover. Her mother just died. Her grandmother is what she calls a “good catholic” and does not talk about love, sex, relationships or anything that has to do with feelings. But one day her grandmother gets mad with the young girl, because the girl told her that she fell in love and she asks her grandma if she felt the same way when she met the grandfather. And the grandmother says:

“You young people did not invent love!”

BAM!  YOU DID NOT is the message. But is it true?!

I think it is true and not true at the same time. Of course love was there long before us. I am sure that love was there before life even started, because I do not believe that any kind of life can grow and succeed without love. So love was there long before us. Love is an old and powerful melody which calls our souls to the earth, to life. Love is the old and powerful melody and gives us rest and peace. Love is the base we can always come back to. The old powerful melody is wise and soft and always there. It is something we can trust on.  And of course everybody knows this melody. Everybody knows this feeling. But is it not different for everybody? I am sure that every couple invents love again. Or let’s say: They compose it!

If love is the old and powerful melody we all know and which has always been there, then it would be just one simple melody holding the world up. But there are many different ways of love. Every couple composes their own love’s melody.  My great-grandma did when she fell in love, my grandma did, my mom, my grandpa, my brother, my uncle….. We all do! I and David composed our own melody, because our love is different just because it is ours. Your love is different then mine and everybody else’s, because it is you and you are different.

So, was the grandma right to tell her granddaughter that she did not invent love? No, she was not. Of course the grandma felt love long before her granddaughter was even born. But this was the grandmother’s love. She never felt the love her granddaughter feels in her heart and in her soul. Her soul sang another song. Her heart composed a different melody.

This is the great thing about love.

There is this one old melody that holds us all and gives us a base to come home to. But we all compose our own melodies. They all fit perfect to each other. They lay over the old melody and make it sound even sweeter and stronger.

There is not just this old melody. There is a whole symphony! We all compose this symphony and we all are a part of it. So this symphony grows with every kiss, with every touch, with every love-filled laughter and with every single tear which falls in love.

This is the power of love!

Saskia Steidel loves the "Playing with words" and the "Letting the thoughts live on paper". She loves old fairy-tale books, columns and Bio's.

In
Germany, where she lives, she worked on some poetry-projects and an art-calendar. 2003 she published her poetry book called "Am Ende der Nebel" (In the end the mist). She also publishes articles about child development and creativity and kids. So far she worked just in Germany. But now she also has a monthly column in a Canadian magazine. The column is called "Food For Thoughts".

Under the name Ivy Brown, Saskia writes children's books.

Saskia Steidel went through quite a few jobs - salesperson in a shop, secretary in a lawyers office, ticketmanager for a soccer club, nanny - till she finally understood that all she wants to do is to write and to work with kids. This is what she does now. And she studies again: musictherapy and learntherapy.

Saskia lives with her (soon to be) husband and their three indian-walking ducks Fred, Grace and Marilyn in a small small village in the woods of the South-West of
Germany.

Interests: children's books, poetry, creativity and kids, parenting, animals,...

~ A Way to Escape ~

 Joyce C. Lock

Have you ever stumped your toe and the most fowl words hung on the tip of your tongue?  Maybe, when a gorgeous babe walked by, you caught them checking you out.  Perhaps, the dry cleaners ruined your outfit and a few choice words came to mind.  Suppose a check was delivered to you in the mail, by mistake.  Consider if someone set out to hurt you and the perfect opportunity arose to get even.

Have you ever found yourself in a position where, if you just keep your mouth shut, you will receive the credit?  Perhaps you observe the keys in another's car.  Maybe you're in a different town where no one would notice you visiting the local bar.  Or, you're on vacation, at the beach, where church members will never see how you dress.

Have you ever been tempted, when a store clerk doesn't notice the extra item in your cart?  Maybe you think a tranquilizer really would calm your nerves.  Suppose you ran across a girly magazine and it kept saying, "Just one look." Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Satan couldn't tempt us if there wasn't some small, secret, part in us that wanted the temptation.  The same advice we give our children works for us.  Just say, "No."

When we come to the place we no longer want the temptation, we don't want that path, we know it will hurt us, and we wish the temptation to forever go away ... then God says, "Your wish is my command," or words of like meaning.

Instead of asking God to help "us" with our temptation (works - II Ti. 1:9), we can ask Him to forever remove it. Committing it to God makes Him the Divine Keeper (II Ti.
1:12, I Pe. 4:19).  What God does is a done deal and that's a load off our backs!

He made a way to escape, I Co. 10:13.

Now, that's Good News!

When we kissed.....

Dianna Doles Petry

I felt the love your heart had to share.

When I looked into your eyes...

It saw tenderness patiently waiting there.

When you touched me...

I felt a comfort deep inside.

You held me in the middle of the night,

I felt so at ease with you that I cried.

You say our destiny was written long ago,

Before our time on earth had ever come to be.

I think our first kiss was always planned,

I think that you were born to make love to me.

When you kissed me...

I knew my life was forever changed.

When I looked into your eyes,

I knew my future had been arranged.

When you touch me still...

I feel complete and safe in your arms.

Love is so much more.....

Than a physical need or charms.

You say our destiny was written long ago,

Others would never understand but I think it's true.

We met for a reason, you and I,

Now spending my life with you is all I want to do.

I am a lifelong resident of the state of West Virginia. I am the author of Memories...Stories of real life in the mountains.

I am a member of the West Virginia Writes and the West Virginia Poetry Society.

I very much enjoy sharing my short stories and poetry with others. My work tends to tell you the way it was, or is, or should be. I can sometimes be brutally honest and embarrassingly funny but it is the only way that I know how to share this journey through life with my readers.

I appreciate any and all feedback on my work.

HEAR MY CRY LORD!

Barbara Williams

Hear my cry Lord.

Please Lord, hear my plea!

Hear my cry Lord.

Lord, please listen to me!

Hear my cry Lord.

As I humbly come to you!

Hear my cry Lord.

And please Lord, make me new!

Hear my cry Lord.

And please take this pain away!

Hear my cry Lord.

As I ask you to please heal me this day!

Hear my cry Lord.

As I lay myself at your feet!

Hear my cry Lord.

Relief from this pain would be so sweet!

Oh Lord the pain sometimes is just too much!

Oh Lord I truly need to feel your healing touch!

I lay my body on your alter of healing and prayer!

For I know, Lord, that your love for me will be there!

I ask, Lord, that you please take all this pain away!

Yes Lord, I ask for a healing please from you today!

I love you Lord so very much and my life belongs to you!

Please, Lord, make my soul and my body today brand new!

As I was awakening this morning I was praying this prayer. I know for you sometimes the pain gets so very bad also. We have many things that we must do in our lives and I will not let satan or his demons take away any blessing the Father, Holy Ghost or Jesus has for me each day. Yes, sometimes the pain is almost more than I can bare but I know as long as I stay in Jesus and let the Holy Ghost live with in me I can win any battle Satan puts in my way as I walk on the path God places me each day. Pray and believe and you will see many miracles that are just for you to see. God is a God of love. He did not give you the hurts and problems that you may have but He can and will be with you as you are being healed. No matter what battle you are fighting be it drugs, cigarettes, weight loss or pain know that you are never alone. God has placed others in your life to help you through these things. Jesus is your Saviour and He loves you so very much!!! Just lay all your hurts and problems on His alter and you will have rest.

I love you and pray you will be healed in the name of Jesus. If you are not healed I pray you will walk daily with the Lord until you are and be with Him when He comes to take us home with Him.

I love you and you are always in my heart and my prayers. Yours in Christ Jesus, Reverend Barbara J. Williams February 27, 2006

May God keep you in His loving arms and I pray Jesus walks beside you as you walk the path way God has placed you on today. And I pray the Holy Ghost fill you with the Wisdom and the Knowledge to complete all God has placed on your plate each day.

Readers Feedback

Some comments that were sent in for the April Fools Contest:

I know I'm voting hands down for Fred Skills "Most Embarrassing Moment" Aprils Fools story for at least one of my votes.  I could see that poor man standing there with his face as red as an August apple...but That's not Why I'm voting for his story.  I'm voting for his story Because anyone who can bring Such joy to the two ladies is Truly a gift from God!  Laughter is the best cure for anyone's day and April Fool's Day is the best day of the entire year to just Laugh at ourselves and enjoy the moment.  This sweet man was under so much pressure to present himself perfectly and in a heartbeat his expectations were totally dismantalled.  Apparently he has a Great sense of humor for he had the grace to tell a most humiliating story that happened to him...made Me laugh.  Thank you Mr. Skills for sharing your story with us, I personally Needed to know that someone else has those embarrassing moments when everything just seems to fall in your lap, so to speak, when you feel So exposed and vulnerable...yet you Had the good sense to use it to your advantage.  What a Rush!  That shows great character to me.  4 thumbs UP ^^^^.

April Fools in October: AH! Pan de masa con fresas mexicano y a
pochito cibollas tajadas- breakfast of champions.
Whad'I'say? Sorry, an old south Texas mestizo breakfast: cornbread,
mexican strawberries (pinto beans) with chopped onions. Doesn't get any
better than that.
Thanks

NAME THAT SONG  BY SHARON BRYANT:  Poor grandma!  You made her rejoiced only to find out it was April Fool!  Ah, ah, ah…  I could just imagine grandma’s position that faithful day.  Anyway, since you never told her your prank on her I shall report you to her.  AGREE?  Your deed was very FUNNY…  GEORGEWATERS OJEIGBE - LAGOS, NIGERIA

APRIL FOOLS IN OCTOBER BY CLARICE HINSON:  It is interesting to understand that there exist differences even in the same United States of America

Thanks for a wonderful contest!!!  I enjoyed all the stories immensely but know we have to pick 3 of the best.

I loved the story, Toni.  It had a lot of humor in it and I could imagine your mother's dilemma finding a skunk stuck in a jar. Examine how the policemen felt! Love, Millie

The Day I Met a Semi-famous Person (This event took place about 1981) by B. J. Cassady:  Your story about John Belushi is so real and touchy.  Many of his type lived such as Elvis Presley.  MJ Wako Jaco is a living.  They have the whole monies but no true friends.  It takes the grace of God for them to continue existing.  Most of them always ended in frustration and committing suicide. Only if they could cling to the cross of Calvary – salvation in Christ Jesus is the key to true happiness.  GEORGEWATERS OJEIGBE – Lagos, Nigeria
