Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural
awareness throughout the world. Special Treat – Chris Petry, the 16-year-old son of
Dianna Doles Petry I was so impressed when I read this
young man’s work, that I asked Dianna to allow me the honour of publishing it
here for all to read. Carol My Chris wrote this after his
hospitalization. I thought I'd share it with you. Chris just turned sixteen on October 25, only a
few days after he was released from the hospital. We celebrated his birthday
big time since he came very close to dying before we got him turned around. It
will be an honor to see his work in the Tapestry. Hugs and love, Dianna Doles Petry My Thoughts Chris Petry My mother took me to church as I grew up, I heard that "God never gives us more than we can bear," But I find that hard to believe most of the time now, I'm tired of being ill and he doesn't seem to care. I have a lot of plans for my life, So many dreams that I want to pursue, I guess I wonder why bad things happen to me, I'm sure that most people probably do. God, I want so much to believe in you, You are supposed to be full of mercy and love, Children are suffering all over the world, How can you watch this from heaven up above? Why not take away the killers that walk the streets? Or the people who start wars as though it's a game? I only want to grow up and explore the world around me, I think most people my age only want the same. My mother can't always find the words to say, She reminds me that life is not easy and I know she's right, There are many people with nothing but broken dreams, Many people without a pillow to lay their head on each night. I know that we can't always have it easy, Babies are born, people get sick, people die, I'd just like to know how it's all decided, I guess I still have that need to ask "Why?" It would be much easier, I guess, if life followed a script, If we knew what would happen from scene to scene, We would never have to make a choice of who to love, You would know who was good and if someone was mean. It just wouldn't be life. Chris Petry 10/2005 http://diannapetry.tripod.com |
