A Wise Preacher

Joyce C. Lock

Because the preacher was wise, he taught the people knowledge; yea,
he gave good heed, and sought out, and set "in order" many proverbs. Eccles. 12:9

Let all things be done decently and "in order". 1 Cor. 14:40

When passages are explained or even quoted "in order",

as per our understanding (in our own language),
their original intent cannot be missed.

~ To the Suffering Church ~

Turn Down the Oven

1 Corinthians 12:18, 22-26

Just because one's comely parts have 'no need' does not mean those, whose service seems less comely, do not have purpose, too.  In fact, when one's gift shines above another, that was God's doing, not ours.

Those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are NECESSARY ... not only for reasons yet to be understood, but because, also, God hath tempered the body!

When Jesus warned that forbidding others 'trying to grow in service for Him' would cause suffering (Matthew
19:14), fruit inspections were not a given option.

When one member suffers, the oven temperature goes up; wherein, all members are made to suffer ... because the degree of being tempered has to make up for another's lack in being able to fulfill what God has called them to do.

God tempered the body so there would be no schism, but that members would finally realize 'having the same care, one for another,' is not negotiable.  We're to have the same care for the custodian as the preacher, the same respect for the follower as the leader, the same love for the sinner as our most cherished friend.

Therefore, those members of the body whose service we think to be less honourable ~ upon these we bestow more abundant honour.  And, once we do so, we will begin to discover one shouldn't have thought more highly of themselves than they ought (Romans 12:3).  But also, ministries will begin to flourish wherein all members will rejoice!

Is not this the fast that I have chosen?

to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens,

and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Isaiah 58:6

Until then, we mourn for The Suffering Church.

BEAUTIFUL WORLD

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

Even though it got off to a late start, Spring this year is more beautiful than I can ever remember it. The trees on the mountainsides are rapidly becoming a thousand shades of green. The fields are a glorious sea of golden Dandelions. Red, white, and yellow Tulips are coming up in a hundred different yards. The Cherry, Apple, and Dogwood trees are full of flowers as well and their blossoms are filling the air with sweetness. Countless butterflies are floating peacefully though the air. Birds are soaring through the brilliant, blue sky and singing songs of love in the tree tops. The sun is blessing the world with its warmth and the rain is bringing new growth and new life everywhere. Every time I go outside I feel my heart filling with love and my soul overflowing with joy at the beauty of this spectacular Spring God has given us.

I think that the reason I am enjoying this wonderful world and this glorious Spring more than ever this year is because I am now seeing more clearly than I ever did before. God's creation has always been a perfection of beauty greater than any words can describe. The problem has been that I haven't had the right eyes to see it. As I open myself more to God's love and joy, however, my eyes are slowly clearing with Heaven's light. I am seeing through the eyes of my soul and am beholding more and more beauty in this world and in the hearts and souls of those around me.

Don't let your own eyes remain clouded to this beautiful world around you then. Let God clear them with His love and open them with His joy. See the Earth through the eyes of Heaven.  Choose love, share joy, and grow in oneness with God everyday. Help to make the world around you even more beautiful by being the person you always wanted to be. Live your life so that you always see beauty and you always bring beauty. Make the Springtime in your soul last not just for a season but for all eternity.

Walk On
Stella Thompson

smtompson@yahoo.com

I walk in a row
Two by two
Little steps at a time
Reason now escapes me
Original purpose clear
To move out of here
Over to Spain
Live and write in the sun
In Istanbul an ancient city
Where friends abound in plenty
Time will come to - walk on - out of here
Permanent place in the sun - Lord hear our prayers!

CRASH

Stella Thompson
smtompson@yahoo.com

Walk in the light
     No fear
Hold my hand
     Shed tears
On the way up
     See me
On your right hand side
     Look free
Help is at hand
     Crash
Mixture of themes
     Abstracts win
Access to all
     Deserted once
Never again
     Friends around
Even at night I am not alone!

Readers Feedback

Just a note to tell you that I think the books are a wonderful idea. I never grow tired of reading and I broaden my horizons in ways that I cannot do any other way. I would much prefer to receive a book for Mother's Day than to be cleaning up crumbs from my bedroom for the next two weeks, not to mention that I never have figured out if that one bowl they bring me is thickened gravy or overdone oatmeal!  Dianna Doles Petry

Carol,
It is so good seeing you getting part of your book out on storytime.  I
know that your readers will enjoy it.  Wishing you every joy, Joe

Mary Dee's story about the little girl is precious.  Jene

I sure do enjoy Bill Walker's stories. He has such a unique way

of putting his stories together. Jene

Dear Carol, I am writing to you for the first time. I enjoy this group! It transcends me to some other world when I read the stories! I liked your article given below on life after menstruation. Although, I am 32 but I agree with you and I know I will think on the same pattern when I reach the ‘silver’ age!! It somehow makes me recall the story by Joseph J. Mazzella – LIVE IT. I don’t understand why we always ponder about our raison d’etre when it is standing in front of us in full view – TO LIVE!!!!! That’s the simplest of reason!

Please continue the good work.

Lots of love.

Charu

April 27th – Bill Walker’s Story the Few, the brave…I've met Yeager and Scott at a get-together in Santone years ago.

I did the same thing as Scot only in Africa in the early seventies
trying to help those hard working people save their families and
country. There was no support from the U.S. and the effort failed,,,,
sadly. Now look at it. Everyone is starving or getting killed/murdered
by their own fearless leaders they thought would lead them to
prosperity. They had prosperity before. Work, health care, plenty of
food, you name it, they had it.
Thanks
Mark Crider

April 26 - Boy, could I ever relate to Joseph Walker's story, Car Pool 500! I have really become more aware of my own driving habits since my son got his driver's license. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Linda Ann Henry – Poem about Nam - I'm not one to condemn or castigate, so if there's a cooler place in Hell I hope that JFK, LBJ and R. Nixon get to share it for their place in history on the NAM issue.
Thanks
Mark Crider

Grandma's Afghan struck a place in my heart too as did the poetry by Joyce Lock, Janice Finley and Paula Booher. This was a fantastic issue!

April 25 – For administrative Day – Hart Dowd - We're taking all the ladies out to Johnny Carino's for lunch Wednesday. We'll go early to beat the mob. (Mark Crider owns his own business).

April 24th comments:

My most sincere thanks to Ellie Braun-Haley for all that she does in the fight against cancer. She and her daughters are the kind of people that make a difference for those of us touched by cancer either through dealing with it ourselves or watching a family member struggle with it.

Richard Sims story reminded me of an incident many years ago.  I was standing in front of two men, my husband was standing next to me.  There was a lot of background noise and hubby didn't hear what the one guy said.

The man said, "You're really big."

Hubby thought he said, "Your wife is a pig."

POW.....hubby knocked the guy on the ground, jumped on him, and I was yelling, having no idea what he hit the guy for.

Then I heard hubby say, "If you EVER call my wife a pig again....."  and I yelled, "He didn't call me a pig...he said you're big."

Talk about someone turning red.

Prayer Requests and Updates

Special Prayers Please

for Peggy's brother, Joe

"My brother Joe was admitted to the hospital yesterday.

He had gane green in his foot over a year ago.

They had to remove some toes.

Well he is now not getting circulation in that foot or leg.

They are going to try to do a bypass first.

If that does not work, they will have to amputate his leg.

If that happens, hopefully it will be below the knee.

I am asking for prayers that the bypass works.

There is so much power in prayers.

You all have always been here for me

and I thank you all for that.

Hugs and Love,

  Peggy "

Just returned from a month's hospitalization and a nursing home stay.

They amputated my right big toe and a chunk of my netatarcil arch.

Between this amputation and my prosthetic left leg, walking is tough.

I must be in kidney dialysis for 5 hours each Mon-Wed-Fri.

Diabetes is bad
